Exactly. Normally agree with simon on things but he's being short sighted here. That £b could have paid for us to have the best stadium in the world, or it could have bought Lewandowski a few years ago, or kante, bale, kane, etc. Don't tell me we wouldn't be significantly better off as a result, of course we would. And now our income is going down without champions league and other prize money each year, the £50-100m we lose a year on average dividends and interest payments for glazers will actually make a very big difference. I don't even know if we're actually the richest club in the country anymore. Our budget (everything, wages, transfers, maintenance, everything) might actually be less than some other clubs now.

It may be that Salford City is cursed and doomed to play in the National League forever. They're not setup for the counter attack, they setup like a team that wants to control the game yet only have an average possession of 55% this season. @S. That's 2 different arguments though. 1 is, the utd training facilities aren't as good as City and other too teams. It seems that is a fact and I'll accept that. 2 is that having the current facilties is having a negative effect on performance. This I don't know to be true at all. Who's to say better facilities would equal improved performance? If City and Utd swapped training facilities, would there be any difference in the league table? That, I seriously question.
@danielgalea84992 жыл бұрын
@S. I totally agree with everything you said there, no question about it and I wouldn't say Utd should settle for second rate facilities just because it may not make any difference in terms of points on the board. I think Utd should improve that and I think Utds owners should do what Gary has said. But I think if they did every single thing he said, including improving the training facilties, they would not be any better a team on the field. Not even a single point better or even from an eye test point of view, even miniminally better. The problems on the field at down to the players, coaches and recruitment, I'd go as far to say, entirely down to those 3 aspects.

Yes it is a business, but the point is it absolutely shouldn’t be. People invest their weekends, evenings, lives following, talking, loving their clubs, they are peoples dear passions. These things shouldn’t be treated as if they were Tesco or Google and you can just drain it’s resources for a singular person or owner to profit from. it’s a football club, it’s number one priority should be being as successful as it can be on the pitch and if it’s falling short of that because the owner doesn’t want to spend this that and the other so that they can pull out it’s resources instead, then the owners are not fit for purpose. How can it be acceptable or justifiable in any way for a club like Man Utd to fall so far behind on the pitch, have bankers running the club, have a decaying stadium and training ground, not invest as much as they should in the market, spend poorly in the market, and put all this down to well that’s because it’s a business. No it’s not a business it is one of the biggest football clubs in the world and shouldn’t be being treated as a cash cow by vultures

What rubbish, united have spent more than anyone in the market. Its not through a lack of investment that they're uncompetitive, its how it's been spent. Spending £1 billion knocking down the stadium and building a new one might make them even less competitive as they'd have less to spend in the market. The problems have nothing to do with old trafford being a bit shabby or the training ground being a little less modern, or because the Glazers take £8 million a year in dividends. Neville talking absolute bollcoks

But the owners invest an extortionate amount of money into the club. It’s stupid to say they shouldn’t treat it as business as they have hundreds of millions invested into it. But I do agree, they need to understand that success on the pitch will bring success off the pitch

Manutd have too many non football guys running a club. I don't know what ability do Darren fletcher or Carrick have that makes them football heads at that club. They look like mere yes men who hardly have any ideas or footballing philosophy of their own.

Darren Fletcher played for Utd as did Michael Carrick the latter left Utd a week after Solksjaer departed.

There is one point plan. Hire proper board,football people DOF not ex players,especially without any experience. Hire DOF and build structure,stop focusing on social media,do not pay crazy wages and transfer fees

They didn’t just take £8m this year did they ffs. He should really do his homework. Two dividend payments every year and the latest was just under £11 mil of which glazers received £8m. On average the dividends they’ve taken in the last 5 years are £20 mil plus

United would never get in trouble with financial fair play after paying off the debt as they wouldent be making a loss, just spending money on players rather than debt and interest repayments.

Jim, why did you stop yourself from saying "look at Liverpool's facilities"? You nearly said it, but then stopped yourself and moved on to praising Chelski's facilities instead. Why? Liverpool recently relocated their training ground from Melwood to Kirby and have excellent, first-class facilities at the AXA training centre. Do you somehow doubt it?

Man U where the original buy your own success team, they started this with Keane, cantona, van persie, berbatov, Cole and numerous others, Fergie looked who the best player was at the end of each season and bought them, no rocket science or mystique but now others have money as well, that is all that has happened. Hopefully no way back for them. The fans are supporting a franchise because hardly any of them are from manchester, when the penny drops they will just start supporting city or Chelsea.
