I fell splat on my back getting out of the tub about 9 years ago. 62 yes old. It knocked the wind out of me and it took me a minute or two to gather my wits and call 911. I didn't try to get up until the EMT 's were there to help me. When you're older those falls take a "minute" to recover from. Looks like that's what that rider was experiencing. Glad she was alright. Apollo kept saying, "where's that silly horse who couldn't take care of his rider?!? Wld never happen on my watch! " 😊❤

I went splat on my back off my horse when he spooked 2 years ago. Knocked the wind out of me and was a shock to my body. I was on him bareback and didn’t se the spook coming so it was a surprise. I was 66 and it took me a few months to recover. I still haven’t ridden my horse more than 15 minutes at a time since. It’s hard to get my confidence back since my horse is very green and needs more training to carry a rider.

Very glad the lady was not injured and hope she rides again. You have to ride in a group to learn to ride in a group, but might have better to have a larger number of volunteers to assist and guide, less need to shout so much, and perhaps the beginners divided in to two smaller groups. Grey horse I think had Apollo's 'Go now please please please' but not so well-behaved, or perhaps just more stressed by it all...

That was some ride! I bet the next time you'll choose the "fast" group. 😁 I went off a horse once and landed on my tailbone. It took months for that to stop hurting me. I may have cracked it. Another time I was on the hottest horse at the stable and he unexpectedly took off on me and I slipped to the side. I managed to hang on for a good minute or two, riding on one side of the horse, one stirrup. If you've ever seen a Roy Rogers movie where he "hides" behind a galloping horse shooting at the bad buys, you have some idea. The horse finally got uncomfortable enough with being off balance he slowed down and I regained my seat. That was one wild ride.

Cometh the hour cometh the horse thinks Apollo, let a real herd leader get to the front, no more faffing around, no more stop starting, just a gentle pace so that other horses who can’t seem to control themselves or their riders see how to behave, as for bucking your rider off, what terrible manners, that horse needs a good talking to from their herd leader. Now I’m in front apart from a white horse who seems far too full of their own importance jogging along sideways, not wanting to be passed by an experienced herd leader who can be trusted in a crisis such as today. 🐎🐎🐎🐎 Very happy to hear the fallen rider was OK but I bet she was very bruised.

Glad the faller was ok. I kind of feel like this wasn’t a well thought out or planned ride. There should always be more than one person who knows the route, and there should be a plan incase of a fall. It was obvious that there were people in that ride that needed to go slow, and people whose horses were not happy with the pace. Whilst it’s good practice to teach horses to adapt, I think in this situation the ride should have been split to two groups.

@bethje302 жыл бұрын
You are so right Tara. The one in the front should keep the pace correctly. Because with the jogger in front there will be gaps that will cause all kinds of trouble for novice riders. The best would have been a calm horse in front, the group close together, two by two and a higher pace. Trotting, trotting, trotting and a canter. But for a group canter the riders will need to be able to control their horses.😵
