We document the data from our charging test of the Nexon EV Max and the BYD e6 electric cars. We document the the charging rates, the curve of the charging of these two cars and also see how many amps each car takes in! Let's geek out together and have some fun!

Byd e6 can charge at Max 80kw. BYD e6 is mature 2nd generation product with millions of kms feedback. TATA is at infancy in electric cars. Byd e6 can be charged @40kw via AC charger.

The size of the battery of byd is two times that of Tata nexon.

Not 2 its 4 times Nexon has 25kwh-31kwh i think E6 has 80khw

Basic law, power = voltage * current . Tata nexon presently uses 320volt architecture . Byd yses 600volt architecture . Kia E6 uses 800volt architecture In future EV are moving towards 800volt architecture to shorten charging time, lower current so less heat and faster charging, smaller motor and more efficient for the same power

Thanks for doing this test, at the same time as we explained the max charge capability of the cars, we need to explain what is the max charge capability supply of the charger. But a good test and proves that electric vehicles need to have some extreme engineering when it comes to batteries and charging. And being able to handle such massive currents is impressive and scary at the same time.

EV max takes about 32 kW for DC fast charging. This is about 0.8C. The BYD takes about 57.36 kW for DC fast charging. This is also about 0.8C.

can you guys do a comparison bw these two or any other electric CAR on hilly conditions , with loaded passangers , and test their performance in different modes, efficiency of regen ?

In US, electrify America charging stations use 500 amp peak currents which comes to 320-250kW charging speed

I was so much waiting for the comparison with real time charging speed. We need to have chargers with real time charging speed in kW, it is cumbersome to always multiply volts x ampere to get real time data.

Looking at peak charge rate on your graphs - Ev MAx 0.770kW per 1kWh of Pack , Byd e6 0.827kW per 1kWh of Pack , not a big difference in charge rate

So does it mean that the byd has a better BMS just because it charges at a higher rate without ramping down? There could be other factors as well.. a tata type of ramping down the curve is better electronically due to our inconsistent power conditions imo

For a charge test SoC should be from 20 to 80 % and the time taken on any EV

TATA product has 5 STAR rating . TATA is better than tesla. TATA is best car in WORLD!!!! My TATA TIGOR can charge AT 120kw charger as WELL. ANYONE WHO OPPOSES TATA IS ANTI NATIONAL AND IS A PAKISTANI TRAITOR

@@nimajji3517 I think you need to relook the safety features and score of Teslas. Tell me what happens when you fall asleep behind the wheels of a Tata car, driving on a highway at night at 90-100 kms/hr. In fact in any other car by Indian manufacturers. I think you know the answer. Besides, going on a long drive in EVs in India are full of anxiety. The infrastructure is all over the place: their software/ payment integration sucks. There are millions of charging apps with literally no route planning. The cars don’t talk to the chargers hence no in built router planners. Every time, I have to do all the back of the napkin calculations plus remain unsure “saala charger khaali bhi rahega kya? Charger chalu bhi rahega kya?” All this just kills the fun of owning an EV. Even globally, going on a long drive in a non-Tesla is usually challenging. I know Tata is doing great but that’s not enough. 😊 They have a long way to go in developing a great EV software and charging infrastructure and their integration. Its hard, Tesla aise hi nahi mara raha hai itne saalo se. Time, paisae aur passion lagta hai. Aise hi soch liya aur masters ho gaye EVs main. Engine nikaal ke, battery daal ke EV nahi ban jaata.. peace ✌️
