Ok, about evermore: it's a song about struggling, probably with mental health issues. She may be talking about the drama with the media/kanye that originated reputation, but I like to think about it as a song about the pandemic: being stuck at home, being down and depressed, and she even says "I was catching my breath", which makes me think about covid. Bon Iver sings about "the things that will be lost" and needing to handle too much at the same time, and then Taylor sings about finding someone who was there and saved her when the ship wrecked. And because of this person, the pain wouldn't be for evermore. This is one of my favorite songs of her career and it sums who Taylor is for me: someone who saved me and made this whole pandemic/depression/anxiety thing easier to deal with. "It was real enough to get me through the violence of the dog days."

Yes, it's about the pandemic and how badly the Rump administration handled it. It is her emotional journey and the US's difficult journey through the shitty year of 2020.

I might be wrong but I find the beat in the background represent chaos and struggle and anger. And I can't help but think this song is about when Kanye tweeted about how he is going to help Taylor get her masters back because Scooter Braun is a close family friend. I feel like this is her way of saying nah, I'm good, I don't need you. Hopefully I am right, but that is what I got from this song

also, evermore I think is written around the time of the election? I'm not from the US so I'm not sure if it is the presidential election or some other election. The beginning of the song is when she is feeling sad and almost hopeless with the political situation, and then the rhythm changes rapidly. This represents the changes happening, in a positive way. The last bit of the song the tempo went back to the same tempo as the beginning part, however, the lyrics is positive and hopeful. So I think Evermore is a representation of a turmoil in one's feeling towards something important. Hopelessness, change happening, and contentment / happiness.

6:28 I fell to the floor laughing at the gukgukgukguk😂. You described the instrumental very well. It's very hard to find a rhythm to sway to in closure. But it is something very new and interesting.

about closure: You wanting to just sway with the music and being interrupted by the beat... is the exact feeling she was having... she was doing new music a new life and then out of nowhere receives a letter (in my mind its from scott) who hurt her so deeply so profoundly that she is still dealing with the hurt, and he is asking to "be friends" "have closure" Like... HELL NO get away get out of here dont disturb my vibe!!

@alextuttle7762 3 жыл бұрын
Closure is the sound of the big machine breaking and is about the Scooter situation... apparently he wrote her a letter right around the time she was finally starting to move on emotionally.

I'm pretty sure this song is about Scott Borchetta. I can see him trying to reach out and disingenuously make amends.

YES! I loved these reactions to her 'evermore' album. You should react to her collaboration with Big Red Machine called "Renegade". That band are the same people who worked on these songs that are in this video reaction. But "Renegade" is a really beautiful song about anxiety and how that can impact a relationship.her 'evermore' album. Love your reactions so much!!!

Love the song evermore. Yes she changed it at the end. Go back and listen to the words of the bridge. Yes, this is about 2016 when she was at her rock bottom, depression, didn’t think she would ever come out of it. The bridge, She’s shipwrecked, she saw his face in the cracks of light, she thought of him, and that was enough to get her through, and she could have sworn he was there with her. So, the end is that she was able to climb out of the depression with his help, he was there, and the pain wouldn’t be for evermore. It’s lovely. She wrote this with her boyfriend Joe, who was playing the piano, and he was the one who helped her get through 2016. I hadn’t realized you didn’t finish this album! Omg! What else of Taylor to listen to? She recently put out Fearless Taylor’s Version, the first of her re-recorded albums. She was 18 when it was released, to me it’s country-rock, and I listened to it really first the first time and I really fell in love with this 13 yr old album! This won her her first AOTY. Start there!

Um no, it's about 2020, the Covid crisis and how badly the Rump administration handled the crisis. Justin's lyrics point to this. "Cannot think of all the cost, and the things that will be lost. Can we just get a pause, to be certain we'll be tall again". Evermore the song and album goes through a journey from Winter to Summer. From despair to hope 😊

@@emmavink that’s a valid interpretation too. I’m just going by what she said in her Apple interview and specifically mentioned July to November 2016 and when she was at her worst time of her life.

@@Starbuck-dr7yl oh ok, I read that she specifically said this song is about 2020. Maybe it is an amalgamation of the two difficult years. I think the Justin Vernon verse is definitely about Covid in the US tho.
@Starbuck-dr7yl
@Starbuck-dr7yl 3 жыл бұрын
@@emmavink She briefly and vaguely mentions the 2020 election as uncertainty about the future, but then goes on to more specifically state July to November in 2016 is about when she was going through the worst time of her life, in which she said it was a life altering event and she continues to state how it was a struggle just to make it through one single day. Justin's bridge was written by Justin so it could be about Covid, I really don't know what he wrote about since I haven't heard or read an interview from him. I can only state what Taylor discussed in her Apple interview, but obviously art can be interpreted in any way so if the song makes more sense to you if it is about Covid, then its about Covid.

I think the machinery sounds are the representation of anxiety and depressing thoughts which flow into calm piano when in public not to show the feelings

Some things I'm sure have been mentioned, but imma do it again 🙃 1) there are two more excellent bonus tracks on both Folklore (Peace & The Lakes) and Evermore (Right Where You Left Me & Time To Go). 2) Bon Iver (pronounced EEver like the French pronunciation) collaborated on both Folklore and Evermore. The lead singer Justin Vernon sang the Exile duet on Folklore with Taylor. 3) the song Evermore is her emotional journey through 2020's Covid crisis all-round crazy year. Fun video, thank you 😊

I do agree the sound effects in "Closure" are so experimental for Taylor that makes a little difficult to enjoy the story she's singing hehe... But I definitely NOT skip the song when listening to the album ;)

b.o.n.u.s. s.o.n.g.s. go do it ;) as for closure, i like the interpretation that the percussion is the person needing closure, trying to insert themselves back into her life, whereas she was fine without that interruption and doesn't need the closure.
