Valeton just released a new offering that is a full size board meant for the stage... much in the same way the POD GO is meant for the stage. Is the GP 200 the best alternative to the POD GO?

It did sound really good, the SLO, Mesa and Engl were good tones and could be dialed in nicely. The pitch shifting was pretty impressive and it didn't really seem to have any DSP limitations to speak of. For what it is, seems like a great unit. Perhaps the GE250 would be more useful with it's tone capture through the app but overall, especially for the $349 price point, should be a great, inexpensive way to get into quality tone dialing.

Agreed. I think if you’re looking for something full sized though this might be a better option that the 250. I believe the only board with a full sized pedal mooer offers is the ge300 🤔

$350 isn't cheap for me. I wish someone would make a pedal that blows all these big names out of the water for super cheap. And fuck up all the other company's games... That would be hilarious and great for me because I could own a badass pedal finally. I won't ever be able to buy a $350 ever. Kinda sucks but do fies all the high as sky prices going on in the pedal world.

@@thefuneralparade You know it costs money to make devices like this, right? It's not a charity - they have to make money or they can't make anything. Anybody who owns an electric guitar and an amp isn't so badly off that they couldn't save up $350 for a multi effects unit. I mean, you're watching KZbin so you have a device, you have internet. Maybe you should just budget better. And stop complaining - that gets you nowhere.

Did they provide a pre-release manual to you? I haven't found one online yet, and I am curious to know what the MIDI functionality includes. I assume it can change presets with PCs, and it can probably turn on/off blocks with CCs. But can you assign a CC to a parameter and send a CC to alter the parameter value (like in HX Stomp for example)? Any MIDI info would be appreciated.

I definitely needed to drastically scoop the hell out of the mids and up the bass a lot on both the 10 band eq and global eq (bass on amp sim, not 10 band) and up the presence quite a bit. Also, i had to pinpoint a sharp zappiness in the lower treble frequencies and now it's really good. Still trying to get my noise gate perfected. Went with EVH amp and cab, going into my Peavey JSX.

Hello, I'm already watching your video and I still have not seen how this device reacts to switching between presets and channels. Is there a delay between switching from one channel to another. For me, this is the most important point. How can I get around the lack of a snapshot function on Valeton? I want to strum a chord on a clean sound with a flanger effect, and switch to an overdrive channel with flanger without delay, so that the chord and effect sound is not interrupted. Can this be done on Valeton, or not? It would be interesting to see such a comparison. It is very important! And this is not mentioned anywhere.

How does this tack up on dsp and the ability to arrange effects in a way you like? From my understanding the pod go suffers some dsp limitations and I know for a fact that certain blocks are locked in place like the wah. I'm essentially deciding between this, the pod go, and the mx5 as a budget floor modeler for both live and recording use so I'd really appreciate info like that

Dang! Glad I ran into this video. Been pulling my hair out trying to add and overdrive pedal into the FX loop of the Pod Go and the noise gate for some reason has no affect on the overdrive pedal and all I get is hiss. Works fine going into the input, but not the fx loop. And my Boss MS-3 has no problem doing that. And I need a good sounding backup with my preferred analog pedal so I'm gonna give the GP-200 a shot. Never even knew this unit existed. Thanks a bunch!
@christopherwalker2097

Why would you want an overdrive in the effects loop? If the effects loop was movable and you moved it to the front of the amp anyway? What would the difference be?
@emach07
@emach07 2 жыл бұрын
@@christopherwalker2097 I wanted the analog overdrive pedal to be "after" the built in digital overdrive in the Pod Go so it would cut through the mix (band) more. The GP-200 did the same thing plus the FX loop was not moveable but I did find that putting my pedal into the input of the Pod Go for some reason the noise gate then worked with the external pedal as long as it was not in the loop (kinda weird) and it still cut through very well although I'm sure not quite as much as having the analog pedal last in the chain (overdrive-wise) but it's for backup anyway so it works for me. My overdrive pedal costed almost as much as the Pod Go lmao so yeah, I wanted to get as much of the sound and tone from that as possible

I'm looking for a good looper on a multi effects board 180seconds is longer than a lot of them. That being said it's not long enough I'm doing 7 minute loops on my 65$ amazon looper and it's got 3 save slots but no way to copy those loops. For the price these multi effects boards cost they should have an infinite loop memory and the ability to save multiple loops as well as a way to download them.

I had the original Valeton GP 100 and hated the reverbs to the point I sold it. I then had the Nux MG30 and loved it but found it a total fax to dial in a decent tone when playing through an frfr cab. The disparity between headphones and the frfr cab was night and day. In headphones the presets, amp's and Fx sounded great. Through my Headrush frfr I had to totally redial in the patch eq and volume wise. I spent more time doing this than playing. Both the frfr and the Nux were sold. If anything I might just go for the Pod Go and send the amp out to the send of my Fender Deluxe solid state amp and see how it goes.

The main difference would be the pod go has hx technology as its sound engine. Ergo while it has fewer FX and Amp emulations the ones it has would be of a higher quality than that in the GP200. Are the FX loop ios on the GP200 stereo or mono? Perhaps more detail needs to be bought forward. Difficult to differentiate when all the sounds heard are on the heavy side of the street. OH I do have both units.
@LivinginLosAngeles-re5yx

I've heard Pod Go is the HX sound engine, but also heard it doesn't do parallel path stereo rigs, which would seemingly undercut the Helix sound engine argument, but my info could be wrong. I will say the Andersons shootout of Pod Go vs this unit didn't showcase the Pod Go very well at all, though this is budget as well. Neither is in the league of the big boys for sure.

Hi Taylor, Thanks for the presentation. As an old Death Metal shredder, the significant boss HM2 must of course be on board. I already have a few devices in my household, but the Boss HM2 is just never there. They load hundreds of amps on it and each one adds another 5 amps with the next firmware. But nobody has the significant HM2 with them. As a question in the round, is there any such board that has a reasonably acceptable HM2 in it? Except Kemper and AxeFX. Could they? cheers

Unless I've missed something in the few reviews out there, the GP-200 lacks the concept of "snapshots" or "scenes" within a patch, which allow you to toggle many parameters at once. As such, you have to rely on switching to an entirely new patch, which will kill your verb/delay trails and maybe even cause a silence gap of a few hundred milliseconds. So the GP-200 entirely blows the Pod GO out of the water on price (assuming $350 will stick), but lacks this functionality. I'd say that the Headrush MX5 was closer competitor (despite mismatched form factor), but that's been out of stock everywhere and NOW has a street price $100 more than it was a week ago!

@@TaylorDanley Let say your rocking a solo and you hold the note at the end, and switch back to the rhythm tone, will it carry over the extra effects over till you play again or will it chop it off? Show me the way Obi Won!

snapshot (line6's trademark "scene" feature) is life. it's eric clapton to angus young to randy rhoads in one patch/preset, each a toe swing away. absolutely an indispensable feature on stage. killer is a strong word, what's the point of let's say hypothetically a cheaper price and slightly better model sound if it makes your life harder going live?

Same models as the Ampero. Both Chinese. This one simply has more switches. The back panel is identical. Probably made same Chinese factory. Sounds terrific

did he say he wants more amp tweaking options to edit, and then say its hard to justify if the unit is more expensive than the pod go, the extra options aren't worth it? Also, did he ever talk about which one sounded better over different styles? Nope

I notice you didn't include a demo of any clean settings this pedal has as a preset. Is this pedal even capable of a clean setting? This pedal may be great at balls to the wall high gain settings how ever I happen play a more diversified styles of music. In my opinion it is a more biased review.

From this demo, I would not consider this in the same category as the Pod Go when it comes to sound. This could cost 50 bucks and I’d still recommend the PG over it if you play live shows.

Yeah podgo is awesome if you love the challenge of super limited DSP and reduced options
@NelsonBlakeII
@NelsonBlakeII 2 жыл бұрын
@@BobbyCulpepper.srv3fender I play fairly straightforward metal/metal core so I just need a good amp, wah, delay, reverb, gate, boost, EQ and compressor. It sounds amazing and through a power amp and Mesa cab, no one can even tell it’s a modeler. Form factor is much more important than DSP because I need quick, simple switching during fast songs while people are jumping around.

@@NelsonBlakeII i'm playing metal too, mostly trivium-ish stuff. Do you think PG would sound significantly better than say a Valeton Gp200 or NUX MG30? I just need simple stuffs like amp modeler noise gate etc. Thanks
@NelsonBlakeII
@NelsonBlakeII 2 жыл бұрын
@@jawara6263 Look up Leo Gibson's channel for an excellent comparison. I think the PG is the best choice. It already sounds great, but if you're going front of house, the ability to upgrade the cabs allows you to put those excellent amps in the best light. I have no complaints as a gigging metal player.
