People say she’s being dramatic cause she wrote a 10min song about a short relationship but it’s not about how long or short a relationship is. It’s about what that person made you feel during those times. She fell hard fast and there’s nothing wrong with that. She was young. probably the reason why the 10 minute version isn’t boring to listen to and to watch the performance is that the song has a story to follow, it’s like taylor’s telling a story in a way that she’s just singing it out. not to mention the fact that the lyrics are damn painful and relatable.

Same! When I very first listened to this, I'll admit I wasn't as impressed. I guess I was expecting different lyrics. But, I watched the short film and ever since then, I can't stop listening to this version. It's almost like I can't listen to the 5 minute one, knowing how much added depth the 10 minute holds. There was so much left unsaid when it came out in 2012, and the 10 minute version somehow makes the song ten times more mature, and showcases more of what went on behind the scenes. I don't think I've ever heard a song so tangible. The tone of the song, and the way she sings it lets you actually FEEL the story and you can feel what she's feeling. And sadly, that tells me just how much worse the relationship was than we all thought before with the original version of the song.

People are simply comparing to their own taste in musical artists, humans like to argue by stating extremes. I'm not Swift fan, I think she's got some incredibly catchy songs that stick in your year. I was actually brought here by some comments about how no one but Swift could make a 10 minute song because no one matches her talent (insane claim, tons of 10, 20, 30 minute songs out there). Is she talented? Of course, no denying it. Is she the most talented musician ever? Of course not. Isn't the most successful musician of all time at this point? That seems like it should be enough for her fans to dismiss people saying she has "no" talent.

I was definitely feeling very emotional and melancholy after it. Well done to Taylor

I usually don't say that everything happens for a reason, but in this case I believe it did. Because if it wasn't for her dispute with her previous label, this version most likely would have never seen the light of day, the songs from the vault wouldn't have been released either, not to mention All Too Well perhaps wouldn't have got a short film. But instead all of her albums are getting even more appreciation and recognition than they did (meaning more people discover her music). It really worked out so well for her.

I think the live version has more emotions, but that’s to be expected. Any song holds more emotion when you preform it live as it’s not the person in a studio singing it dozens of times. It is also more impactful when you can see their face and body.

This song hits straight to my heart because the exact same thing happened to me. We fell in love and we were 9.5 years apart, 22 and 31. We were together for 3 months non stop and something (he said it was age as well) happened where he started to pull away. He finally did the no call/no show thing and we broke up. Then for two years he was in and out of my life until I finally said I couldn’t take it anymore. He is the love of my life but it didn’t work out. Every person he has ever been with since then has characteristics that are like me, almost like he is trying to recreate what we had. It has truly changed who I am as a person over the last 15 years and I wish I could go back every single day to who I was before I met him because the heartache is enormous. I think there are some things in life that you never get over and they hurt just as much at 100 years old as they did at 22 years old. ❤

I felt this. Same thing. I was 22. He was 31 and I was just so in shock that HE would want me that I was so submissive and would let him blame me for stuff that just didn’t make sense but he must’ve been right. We did the back and forth thing for 5 years. I forgave a lot of shit from him cause I just wanted him while he threw things in my face every chance he got. Tried to get me to turn on friendships he said weren’t real (still friends at 33) and just would shatter my soul. One thing about aging is that I realize I needed those lessons to know I will never make myself dim or small for anyone or not stick up for myself and speak up and not accept the gaslighting.

I'm not a fan of Taylor Swift but when I see her in this performance I realize that I am seeing one of the most important exponents of the last 50 years in music, you may or may not be a fan of the girl, but she has an innate talent, creativity and a lot of feeling and creativity, it is impressive.

I'm literally in the same situation. Happily married. But at 17 when your heart is broken for the first time, it's a pain you think you won't get over. You feel everything so deeply. She grasped that feeling in this song. I can go back to that time if I just close my eyes and listen.
