Hi! For the people who didn’t watch the intro and are just commenting haha- I’m not for sure moving here, there are other cities that are high up on my list and would make more sense but I have a video coming talking about all of that. This is just for fun to see places, I love looking at real estate and just seeing what’s out there in different cities. I loved the apartment you were interested in, but the lack of a tub to soak in would stop me from getting that one. The rent controlled was more me. But that's because I've lived in apartments and houses "with character" on the East Coast for decades already - haha. Which is what solidified my love for a NYC/CA modern and comfy (with a touch of beach-city living) style. Very minimalist too. East Coast homes were always cluttered to the hilt (hello anxiety! lol). I LOVE that you're being smart and exploring, while having fun at it. That's what life is about. The cost of living there does give you a lot less space, but a lot more to do at your door step, and most don't understand that. Here in CA, you have to drive everywhere. That's the ONE thing I miss about NYC, and the East Coast. They had more community spaces and access than you do here. But I love the beach, and dry air, and lack of trees and grass. Which saves me from serious year long allergies. Please keep exploring housing (apts and houses) everywhere you visit. I LOVE doing that myself. Before COVID, I'd hit the Open Houses in the area monthly and loved it. It really lifts your mood and helps with Dream Boards. Thank you, Taylor!

Personal difference of opinion, I would never go for the one with marble stairs. I immediately saw myself slipping and falling trying to walk on those with socks. And, as others have pointed out, very high probability of the basement flooding. You'd need to make sure you have good insurance, especially if that's where you were going to be keeping your filming equipment! I'm a big fan of natural lighting too, though. If price weren't an issue I'd go with #6, but to maintain a budget, I would go for apt #1

I lived in NY for many years and I would never recommend a basement bc of mice and rats. But another tip is to look around baseboards, pipes, cabinets and look for cracks. Ask for clear caulk to be added around the perimeters to keep out unwanted guests.

First floor/basement in the city is a huge no for a variety of reasons, however in this case it’d be very hard to walk away from that one. Also, having had my old apartment broken into multiple times through the fire escape, I’d never move into one without a locked window gate.

The one with the room on the street level would be a no for me! You'd need to have your blinds closed all the time, as you'd get no privacy (and it'd be really noisy at street level. I have to say, as a native New Yorker these videos are incredibly sad for me to watch. Many transplants may not know this, but those of us who were born here are unable to afford these rents and the rise of homelessness amongst younger generations is much much higher than what is being reported. Many residents are being pushed out of their neighborhoods, and many brokerage/realtor agencies will not work with individuals that live in specific neighborhoods. What is happening in New York is tragic. I thoroughly enjoy your videos Taylor, and I find you to be very informative and considerate - but glossing over the rent crisis that is occurring here by saying "it's just how it is in the city" is not representative of the larger picture. And it's not just a New York problem btw. This is going on in Chicago, Boston and many other communities in the US

These are fun to watch. Can't wait to see the other cities that you'll be in. If I do ever watch TV its always HGTV so I enjoy this type of content. NYC feels so crazy to me. LOL. I live in Winnipeg, Canada and I live in a small apartment but definitely not as small as these places, and most definitely not at those prices. I like New York for you, I think there would be so many cool opportunities for you there if you were to live there. I hope this is where you eventually end up! My fave was the 2 storey apartment, that was literally the perfect space for you.

What a wonderful and informative video. You always do the best research on everything you post a video about. My experience for natural lighting was to find an apartment with windows on the west side for the afternoon golden hour light. I wish you the best with your apartment journey.

I am so sad you couldn't get that Chelsea apartment, that was a great find!! I lived in Chelsea when I was living in NYC and it is such a great area. I loved when we went to go look for apartments, there was 1 I didn't get and I regretted it so much!! It was on the first floor, and had a private outdoor garden for just that unit. It reminds me of the one you just showed with the 2 floors. I know you haven't picked NY and this video was from a while back, but hopefully you will find something just as great when you look again

I've lived in NYC my whole life, but it always still shocks me how expensive studios and one bedrooms are in Manhattan. You can get one bedroom apartments for under $2k in Queens and you're a half hour subway ride from the city. Really enjoyed seeing what's available in Manhattan these days though!

This was such a fun video to watch! It's crazy how expensive rent is for such little space! I love NYC though and I think it would be fun to live there for short term. If I had to choose, I'd pick the apt that was staged and fully furnished! It was so cute! It's funny I say that bc it's a studio and I actually own a house in Austin, TX. It's a 4 bed, 2.5 bath 2800sqft and I live by myself! lol I love my space! Can't wait for you to come to Austin! I would love to run into you and say hi! I've been watching your channel since before you went on accutane. I love your content! It's unique, entertaining, and helpful!

I lived in the Bay Area for 7 years, and none of these prices phased me.😭 I now live in Northern IL, and my mortgage on a 3000 sq ft house is lower than what my rent was for a 1 bedroom 700sq ft apartment in uptown Oakland. My house is not a bad neighborhood by any means.. NYC and The Bay are insane.

Please do a video recreating this look and do more of these! Also, I rarely see you standing next to so many people, but your height is so adorable haha. I'm also 5'2'', so don't feel insecure.

Hey girl, I live in Michigan and it’s s so cold here not sure if or when I will move because all of my family is here but anyways those rain showers were so pretty I loved those. My favorite apartment that you looked at would be the one that had that amazing beautiful marble staircase going downstairs. It just seems like a big bang for your buck since you really want a living space and workspace. I loved that apartment it had style and character just so nice. Keep rocking it! I love your channel!

Apartment #4 is amazing, I love that it has a downstairs and upstairs which makes the space seem gigantic (and is perfect for your work space). The style is phenominal too! I do agree with some people the marble steps could be dangerous if wearing socks but on the plus side it looks very high end and if there were any alcohol involved with slipping down those stairs it would be a great story/ potential makeup video. =) -To be honest I kind of expect you to secretly apply for the apartment and have Anthony hold it until the rest of your travels are over so you can surprise us. =) Thank you for showing us what apartments are in New York and for taking us with you on your adventures! I lived in Seattle a few years and used to think it was so cool when you lived on Capitol Hill where my sister lives (and like everyone else I live vicariously through you traveling- that was such a big change and I'm envious of you taking that step)! In Austin I would love to see you show apartments and a few smaller houses- maybe a big colonial one for fun! Thank you again for being so interesting to follow and always being yourself in videos!

Very cool to see this stuff, would love to see houses in any city. So you're waffling on Chicago, huh?!
