Love how you cover the common issues that may come up. This was very helpful. My dog does sit or turn super slow cause he loses track of the treat. Getting on my knees and keeping things at head level totally did the trick.

Yay I was literally starting to teach my dog this yesterday but found that I wasn’t sure how to train him to do this correctly. Thank you!

Just was introduced to your "Spin Right, Spin Left" video today on-line by my Terrier's Agility trainer. Something to do with 'Sabrina Grace(ful)' during the Quarentine where we live. Fantastic video! Easy to watch, understand, you have a great voice and we'll be trying it out soon. Look forward to your every Thursday video entry. Thanks again so much for keeping us all in practice with our companions through this Pandemic period.

I just found you on KZbin. Wow! Seriously wow and this is only the second video I have seen. So I lost both my legs last October and now I just got an American pitbull terrier puppy about 5 weeks ago so well anyone that knows about pitties know that they're naturally very hyperactive and playful dogs. Anyway at some point training particular commands was ok. The simple sit and lay down was even ok but I want to train my pup to be a service dog even if it happens a year from now. I don't expect a miracle in a few weeks but my personal insecurities makes it hard for me to focus. Any suggestions? Am I better off going completely broke trying to get him trained professionally or do I have a shot to do this on my own? And please no rude comments from anyone Cause I am asking the trainer...thanks.

Hi! i was wondering if there are any videos with dogs that havnt already been trained for the activity? it's frustrating because i feel like a failure when my puppy does all kinds of things before getting it. I cant seem to find any videos where the dog is not already trained.

Great video! What about if your dog already knows spin? Just teach it again but with the command left and right? He can spin but not directionally. Love your channel by the way 😀
@McCannDogs7 жыл бұрын
So glad you enjoy the channel! If your dog already understands the spin command then it's really easy to teach right and left. You are exactly right (pun intended). Just take a step back and begin to cue the directional spinning behavior following the appropriate command! Happy Training!

What foods do you feed your dogs while trainings. I have a Westie and want the right snacks
@McCannDogs6 жыл бұрын
Hi Holly! We always try to have a variety of treats available when we’re training a young dog. Chicken, cheese, steak, as well as homemade tuna treats are the higher value treats that we’ll use. Make a list of your dog’s 5 favorite foods. Try to offer different rewards while training, to keep it interesting for your Westie. Here is a great tuna treat recipe that you’ll enjoy making for your dog. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6O5mHuCo9lnjZI

Hi Kayl our vizsla is 11 weeks. When I kneel like that she always climbs on the back of my legs. However when I stand it feels to high up from her. Any suggestion ?
@McCannDogs6 жыл бұрын
Hi there! At 11 weeks, having your Vizsla jump to you when you're in a standing position probably is too high. If she has an understanding of the trick while you're sitting and kneeling then it won't take her long to learn how to jump up when you're standing. But wait a few months before trying that. Puppies have growth plates in their long bones that are soft while they are growing. You have to be careful during this period that you don't do too much impactful exercise or play that can affect these plates. You can talk to your vet about your specific dog and find out when would be an appropriate time to start doing more regular impactful activities. It's really great that you have started teaching your Vizsla tricks. Your puppy will love the process of training, and you'll learn how they like to learn that way! ~Ken

Hi, do you use left & right directionals when rear crossing on course?
@McCannDogs6 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Good timing and position is a better cue for a dog during a rear cross. It is helpful to use directionals when you need to send your dog away from you, and you can reinforce your positional cue with your verbal right and left. Thanks for watching! ~Ken

The point isn’t to show the training process of the entire trick, it’s just to walk you through the steps you should do to teach your own dog. This is not likely to be accomplished in one training session.
