Professor Gulati, thank you so much for your recent Ted talk. I listened to you with full attention; you spoke with such truth on purpose in organizations that I could not help but identifying with your conceptions in the blink of an eye. Outstanding! A pitcher of refreshing water for the thirsty times ahead in modern organizations, full of challenges and needs for resilience and flexibility. After all, what are we without a purpose? Perhaps animated matter without spirit or meaning? Kudos for you!

Great talk! People are the lifeblood of organizations and having that re-frame to include purpose will help with both employee engagement (and in turn performance). Hope more business leaders/CEOs see this talk when thinking about operational excellence!

Thank you so much, Sir for this comprehensive talk with real life examples! 🙏 The key takeaways for me have been: - 1. The distinction you make between an Operating System vs a Compass while defining 'Deep Purpose' - I believe, we could apply this in both our individual and organizational contexts. 2. Reframing our jobs with a service orientation as you elucidate so so aptly with the story of the janitors at the hospital. 3. A coherence between our inner calling and our professional responsibilities without any compartmentalization of our lives or rather our complete selves. Curious to further read your book : ) 🙏

Very nice presentation. Your mother's words are very wise. I've already shared this with my children. I hope they listen to you better than they listen to me! 😀 Finding your purpose is the first step and then align yourself with it. It is easier to build education and experience around the purpose instead trying to find purpose in a job or career that was chosen without consulting your purpose.

Thank you for sharing the great story, and love your book on "Deep Purpose". Since the course at Harvard, this has been coming back to me every now and then when thinking about my future career and life. To find the deep purpose within oneself, and leverage that to find the right path. Meanwhile, as for organizational leadership, finding and leveraging the purpose of the company, and connecting it with employees, will also benefit the short-term and long-term development in a big way.

Great video! Deep purpose really homes in on the need to get the foundation right - Having picked up Ranjay’s book earlier this year and listening to this only reinforces that important role people play - and how if they can be aligned around a common and shared purpose, that isn’t surface deep an organisation can truly benefit! Great video and would definitely recommend reading his book Deep Purpose also!
