Dude, I went to the dentist last Friday for teeth cleaning and found out there was another area where plaque was building up because I never flossed. It was behind the final tooth in the rear, that you mentioned! It’s a tough spot to brush unless you shift your jaw over left or right.

I have a question. Dentists seem to generally recommend interdental brushes, but they don't do all of what flossing does, right? They get the sides of the teeth where the gap is, likely better than flossing; but the brushes on top of that, also get the contact point between the teeth, and also get up under the gum line. Are those 2 additional things not all that important? I can't yet find the relevant information on this. The videos I've seen just don't address it. I see that you do recommend flossing as the primary method, and then if one struggles with that, to then move to another method, so that's making some sense there perhaps..

@@TeethTalk I don't have braces, but do have significant crowding. I'm starting a treatment for it soon, but what to do until then? Is there an alternative technique if there is literally no space between the teeth all the way down, to the seesawing motion is the only thing that works getting the floss down between the teeth, but then the side motion doesn't work, because there is no space for it, the floss is just stuck.

I recently had scale and polish and had some tartar build up I had it removed. Dentist told me to buy and electric toothbrush, floss. I went with a water flosser but even on the highest setting I’m getting the outer line of tartar that I had before annoyingly. I’m gonna buy some dental floss and interdental brushes and see if that is any better. So annoying I brush on the highest setting off my electric toothbrush and water floss in the highest setting and use alcohol free mouthwash and still it’s there wtf. I brush and water floss as seen in many videos so I know I’m doing that correctly it’s so frustrating.

Flossing doesn’t prevent cavities

Flossing is important for preventing cavities. While it may not SOLELY prevent them, it helps remove food particles and plaque from between teeth where brushing can’t always reach. Along with other factors like proper brushing, a balanced diet, and regular dental visits, flossing plays a crucial role in maintaining overall oral health. It's all about a combination of habits! Hope this helps!

@@TeethTalk Sure it may remove plaque which is a good thing if only for aesthetic reasons but its ability to prevent cavities has never been proven in the same way as fluoride toothpaste, on a population level. It may be more effective for gingivitis, that I’ve never read into.
