Teff flour is a type of flour made from teff grain. Teff is an ancient grain native to Ethiopia and Eritrea, and it has been a staple in the diets of people in these regions for centuries. Teff grains are very small, about the size of a poppy seed, and come in various colors, including brown, white, and red.
Teff flour is produced by grinding teff grains into a fine powder. It has gained popularity in recent years due to its nutritional benefits and unique properties. Teff flour is gluten-free, which makes it suitable for individuals with gluten sensitivities or celiac disease. It is also rich in nutrients like iron, calcium, fiber, and protein.
Teff flour has a slightly nutty and earthy flavor, and it can be used in a variety of culinary applications. It's commonly used to make injera, a traditional Ethiopian flatbread, but it can also be used in baking for bread, pancakes, muffins, cookies, and other baked goods. Additionally, teff flour can be blended with other gluten-free flours to create well-balanced gluten-free flour blends for different recipes.
