King is my favorite tekken character in terms of his story. An angry orphan taken in by the first King who unfortunately loses his life. The orphan takes up the King mantle but needs training from Armor King who also loses his life to Craig Marduk. King 2 attempts revenge on Marduk but sees that taking another man from his family is no better. Marduk eventually challenges King 2 again but loses once more and King 2 extends his hand in friendship and the two become partners. And there's even more.

I can definetly see the frustration from the perspective of Asuka players towards Lili when it comes to her story. But to be honest it's not like Asuka doesn't like to put her nose into the business of others. So I kinda like how Lili is returning the favor lol Lili is clearly a character of extreme, who is either beloved or hated. I personally like her. Yes she is arrogant and nosy and a bit of a brat but all these traits suit her charcter and make her somewhat likeable. Also I personally like the Asuka Lili dynamic.. Nevertheless really interesting and nice list😊 The more the roster grows the more difficult it gets to separate the good from the bad and see which ones are worth staying.

1:55 Being a Bruce main must be nothing but suffering. Imagine falling in love with the character in Tekken 2 only to see him immediately get replaced the very next game by Bryan. You finally get him back 3 games later with Tekken 5, things are looking up again, he gets more story relevance in 6 as well... And then he gets replaced AGAIN in 7 by Josie this time. And just when his fans start to see a glimmer of hope with legacy characters returning, including some like Marduk who had supposedly been replaced by new characters... Fahkumram happens and puts the final nail in the coffin. This guy didn't get replaced once or twice, but THRICE. 2:52 I like to imagine that when choosing the characters for Tekken 7 the devs suddenly realized "Oh crap, we've cut off about half of the female cast, what do we do ???" and they had to come up with female version of some of the males to try and even out the roster. 7:58 When you realize the entire Mishima feud could have been avoided if Kazumi didn't create a self-fullfiling prophecy... Not to mention that her being the one responsible for the devil gene existing now means that Jin's already shitty idea of starting WWIII in T6 was completely unnecessary and avoidable since it turns out Azazel had jack shit to do with gene in the first place. And while we're talking about things Kazumi brought to the table... Wth Akuma ? You respect her enough to keep your promise to kill Heihachi and Kazuya should she fail... But not enough to fulfill that promise BEFORE the conflict Kazumi was trying to avoid went on for 30 years ?! 12:30 My problem with Feng is that they try to build him up as this super threatening power house... But the games never allow him to become an actual threat to anyone. Starting from Tekken 6 his two rivals, Asuka and Lei, just move on because they've got to deal with WWIII and there's nobody left to care about what Feng could do because any attempts he would make at being a serious antagonist would immediately get overshadowed by the Mishimas playing "Who can screw over the entire earth the most ?". Hopefully they actually do something with him next game, but with Jin and Kazuya still around, that's not very likely. (Unpopular opinion, but I really like Chloe on paper for being a two-faced bitch pretending to be a kawaii neko girl for the masses. Though I really wish she had been implemented better and didn't have to royally piss off every Eddy mains)

Well Bryan became more and more of his own character since Tekken 4 with his taunt and and weird inputs. And the fans made him accidentally Iconic. The whole azazel thing is confusing. Like they never show a future where azazel does something bad so essentially we have no clue how dangerous it is. Also technically jin made situation only worse because azazel has now a human host. And also Kazuya also had the devil gene so he should have none what the fuck was going on. Feng is kinda like Bryan at this point where they just keep him for the gameplay but dont know what tf to do with him.

Also to add onto your tekken plans how about a shout out for the death of character specific stages? that extra layer of characterization was always so good like King's Church, Lei's Skyscraper, Jun's field, and so on. You could argue the whole "personalised stages" thing died in Tekken Tag 1 since while they were just the Tekken 3 stages with graphical rehauls, characters were never locked to those stages, which is likely because of the Tag gimmick and the fact not every character would have a unique stage doesn't help either, since Tekken 3 reused stages for the bonus characters. Plus the PS1 exclusive stages for Gon and Bosconovitch weren't carried over either, though I put that down to them not being in the arcade original that Tag 1 was mostly built off of, whereas the school, I think was in the arcade original, it just wouldn't have been on you'd have seen often. Really, it'd be nice had they gone the extra mile to create new stages based on the Tekken 1 and 2 stages with unique tracks for Tag 1's PS2 version, I'd have taken them over the variants of some stages like Eddy's being at different times of day, or Law's being at different parts of a shaolin temple.

To be fair, Asuka interferes in Lili's story just as much as vice-versa...Granted, Lili didn't have AS MUCH going on as Asuka could have had, but I'd also say that Lili lost more of her individuality than Asuka did when they were paired up. Personally, I like the Asuka-Lili thing going on, but I would have made it a side-trait of the characters, not make it their entire reasons for entering tournaments and all of their endings; like how Yoshimitsu is disappointed in Ganryu, but he always has a main story going on without him. I do, however, agree that Tekken's been downhill ever since T5...Like, I think T4 was the last good story in the series and T5 is when it started to get weird.

I'd wager that a bunch of people complained about Julia/Michelle's character being too stereotypical, that being Native-American women trying to save nature and all that. I can see why people wouldn't like that but I don't personally think there's anything wrong with it BUT I do think they can tone down the costume design. Michelle can have both Native and Chinese costumes as she is canonically half-Chinese but I don't see any reason for Julia to wear Native clothing because she was only adopted by Michelle and we don't know what her actual ethnicity is. Her design only makes sense in regards of her adopted mother/predecessor. But then again, stereotypical nature girl is definitely WAY better than twitch thot.

As a Dragunov main, I wholeheartedly disagree with your video. After his first debut in Tekken 5: DR, he appeared again in the next two games afterwards, becoming a popular and fan-favorite character among the roster (Lili as well as they are well-received thanks to their unique design and fun gameplay styles). Despite his storyline isn't really that fleshed out with the half-assed rivalry nonsense with Raven, he was still a genuinely interesting character and had potential to be in the plot but Namco wasted it in every chance they get, no fcks given and basically shoving a middle finger at us in T7; giving such terrible endings to side characters that aren't Mishima-related such as him. Its been three games of him reappearing in the main roster and he doesn't get any character development whatsoever. So removing him altogether in the next game after receiving such praise from fans throughout the years is just not the ideal option to do (hell, he's the reason I got into the Tekken franchise as of recently), and from what I could gather that most Tekken players doesn't want to see Katarina, Eliza or mostly dlc characters again in 8 since all of them are criticized for plentiful amount of reasons. All in all, your video is somewhat agreeable and subjective to the point. As long as they don't remove him and the others that became a staple character after their introduction into the series (Asuka, Lili, and characters ranging from Tekken 1-6) and avoid creating poor character changes like Julia in T7, then Tekken 8 would work just fine.

I agree with most of the things you said but except for few. I prefer Julia over Jaycee because Julia is original, while Jaycee is just her friend's identity who met with an accident and is injured and cannot fight, so Julia dressed as her friend and fought on her behalf. I also think Lili should stay but her rivalry with Asuka should be ended with a friendship or just go their separate ways to achieve their goals. Lars and Alisa should also stay as they have already progressed a lot in the main story. Cut Kuma because fighting bear just makes no sense. Cut Heihachi as well because he truly dies in Tekken 7 (And no "he is too strong for the volcano to just die and somehow survived for the 3rd time" shit this time please Namco). You can bring a student of Heihachi to replace him by giving his moveset though but I have no idea what his story would be.

I'm sure there is a Wasted Plotential in there for the Jack robots. For example, P.Jack has been a main of mine since T2. But, in seven games since (including Tag 1 & 2) what was he a prototype for? None of the regular Jacks ever resemble him. Plus why was he never perfected? I also really liked Ogre from T3. Not True Ogre, though. Ogre had a really good moveset that was a good selection of previous fighter moves. It is a shame each final boss became more nonsensical than the last after T4.

I laughed at the start when I saw Geese in "Ew Guests" and briefly confused him with Bryan, which goes to show who I would remove. I don't even hate Bryan or anything extreme. I just dislike that he's a one-note asshole who Yoshimitsu is unfortunately never going to be allowed to actually get revenge on due to popularity, which has always annoyed me since I realized it. So I would personally rather keep Bruce or even Fahkumram (or both) as "the kickboxing character" over him despite being utterly indifferent to them otherwise. Besides that, I agree with most of the keeps and the excisions even though Katarina and Gigas seem easy to drop too. The ones I'd change personally would depend on whether this dusting was for a reboot, like with the _Mortal Kombat_ one, or just going forward into _Tekken 8_ in theory. For example, if this was for a reboot, then I would keep Alisa's dumb self, if only as Bryan's replacement in the sense of "Bosconovitch experiment that goes horribly awry and screws over the Manju clan". I'd similarly keep Shaneen over Miguel in a heartbeat despite being indifferent to both just because Miguel is unfortunately tied to the stupid _Tekken 6_ plotline of "Jin starts WWIII like an idiot and somehow the Mishima Zaibatsu doesn't immediately get curbstomped by every nation on Earth and dissolved". I would definitely make Shaneen from literally any other Middle Eastern country though just because Saudi Arabia is too horrible to deserve even remotely positive representation.

I do like this list, but the only ones I'd have to disagree with is Katarina, she doesn't really bring much to Tekken at all, I would say Jaycee, but Jaycee and Julia are the same character, with just a slightly more varied moveset, but ultimately, I don't care too much about that. Bruce, I feel should still be in the game, because they never really wrapped up or followed up on that storyline of him wanting revenge against Kazuya, after being his bodyguard either for 20 years or 20 years after being his bodyguard, I don't remember. I personally think that it could open up Bruce to feuding with the other Mishimas, like Jin, Asuka, Jun if she were to return, Lee, and then those associated or that stand against them like Nina and Miguel. Also, I would rather Taekwondo Girl be Hwoarang's new rival instead of it being Jin, because despite it being a thing from 3 onwards, it's never really brought up in a story fashion again since 5.

There are things you can do with that but the only way something can happen with that plot thread is for the writing team to actually give a shit about anyone who isn't a Mishima and maybe a Tekken 4 sized cast of characters.

More on that later. 9:15 Considering Alisa was designed as Jin's bodyguard and since Lars wants to help Jin end the war, I would have kept them.
