These sweet stuffed puris are a traditional Mauritian delicacy, often made for festivals like holi. The filling is made with ground channa dal flavoured with fennel seeds and cardamom. It's very delicious with some hot chai :)
Ingredients
Filling:
1/2 Cup Channa Dal (Dal Gram)
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Teaspoon Fennel Seeds (Gros Lani)
1/4 Teaspoon Cardamom Powder (Elaiti)
2 Tablespoon Desiccated Coconut (optional)
1/2 Cup Sugar
1 Litre Water
Tekwa Dough:
2 Cups Plain Flour
1/4 Teaspoon Baking Soda (Bicarbonate)
3 Tablespoons Milk Powder
2 Tablespoons Ghee
Yellow Food colouring
3/4 Cup Water
Oil for Deep Frying
**Makes 8-10 Tekwas

J'ai beaucoup aimé votre façon d'expliquer Shiksa Jharee. De toutes les personnes qui postent des recettes sur KZbin, vous êtes de loin la plus graçieuse. On top you have a very nice English accent despite being German. Keep up the beautiful way . I love it. BTW I tried the tekwas, they came out good. Warm greetings from Trou aux Biches, Mont Choisy.

Hello. Not in this recipe. You can skip it if you dont have it as it's just for flavouring. There's already elaiti in it 🙂
