Sure, there is lots of great stories written by fans. Lack of professional titles don't devalue that. I remember one guy talking about a JoJo fan project called "The Lighted Sage" by Cody Savoie and his wife. with a completely original plot, setting, characters, Stands, and artwork. There was another guy who expressed being impressed by a what-if story about Phantom Blood called "Until We Rest Eternally". The commenter called it a love-letter to the classic era of the work.
