Swapping in an electric motor is easy. The battery is the hard part. I'm carrying over most of the features of the Tesla battery, including the four large modules.
How did I get it all to fit?
Tradeoffs were made.

Hi Matt, I know this video is 2 years old now but it is still the best video about stripping and reconfiguring a Model 3 battery pack for any kind of classic car. Entertaining, informative and seriously well done. I've watched it several times! you really are awesome Matt!! I'm working on converting a 1957 Chevy Belair 4 door hardtop. I've gone through several rounds of different ideas for the power train configuration and none of them are particularly easy. The latest one is to build a custom chassis that the standard model 3 battery pack will fit into and then fit the Front subframe with motor and steering etc and rear subframe with motor into the custom chassis, then mount the '57 Chevy body on top of that. this makes it easy to do the installation of the Telsa parts and then just connect them up with the standard connectors. the tricky part will be to mount the body!?! The other option is to do what you have done and convert the battery pack to fit the original chassis. I've bought an entire Model 3 Dual Motor at auction for a ridiculous USD$2,500 and it has only done 2,000km!! a bit of steal really!! hope to start the project in a few month's time when I've finished my current work contract.

I have lost count of the times I gasped during this video... I am very much in awe, your practical and engineering skills are unmatched! While viewing this video, I felt like being halfway in the sci-fi movie and halfway being like Alice in Wonderland... I envy a little bit the possibilities you guys have in the US, I believe no authorities anywhere here in Europe would grant homologation to a car conversion with such extensive structural changes to the chassis... In any case, thank you sir for sharing this video! I believe I will be watching and rewatching it as a formidable learning material and a huge source of inspiration! Cheers and congratulations!

Note that, for a little Alfa, you probably dont' need a 450hp Tesla motor and 90kW battery pack. Take a look at the Hyper9HV motor, which would bolt to the existing transmission and give you 140hp, and it runs off a lower voltage, so you don't need to find battery space for 384V of batteries. 140 electric hp would be a lot of fun in a little car. I'm using it in an old GMC pickup.
