You don’t have to use the standard autopilot on a road trip, you can use it anytime. The $10k full autopilot is what you want to use on a trip if you have it enabled. I’ll upgrade to it in a few years but for now I just want to enjoy the features it has once I get it in May….hopefully it’ll be delivered sooner.

Is there an option to configure the screen where you have all vent controls, glove box opener, and climate controls, etc. displayed at all times to minimize the lack of practicality of having them in the screen?

Not that I'm aware of. They did change the interface recently so you can add and arrange shortcuts to those functions now, but it's not as quick or practical as other cars in my opinion. Would have loved to be able to adjust those controls without having to look down at the screen each time

Awesome review! I was wondering why it was recommended to just charge up to 90% for causal use? Also is there an option to only have it charge up to 90 when charging overnight?

Thanks so much! And yup there's an option to set the charge up to 90% or 50% or whatever percentage you want to set it to through the Tesla app or on the center screen in the car too. So charging to 100% isn't good for lithium ion batteries because it accelerates degradation and shortens the battery life quicker, so that's why Tesla recommends charging to a maximum of 90% for daily use and only charging up to 100% for when you need it like for long road trips. To really maximize battery life, we would charge to a maximum of 50%, but that's not realistic for most of us haha so I've seen most charge to 80% or 90%.

Enjoyed your review of your Tesla. I reserved the exact same configuration in mid October. Surprisingly my delivery was to be Jan. 11 thru Feb. 10? then second week of December they pushed it back to Feb. 09 thru March 09 How are you enjoying it so far? Was there any issues when you took delivery. Thank you

Thanks Joe and awesome to hear. Found a couple issues at delivery like a sunken in door handle on the back driver side door, but the rest of the delivery went smooth and Tesla fixed up everything later at a service appointment. Had my M3 for about 4 months and still loving it and driving it around!

Great review brother, I ordered a Model 3 Long Range in charcoal grey today and it should be ready for pickup in May which is my birthday month. The total price was $54,500 but the $2100 in sales tax caught me off guard but it is what it is. Ever since I drove my buddy's Model S back in 2014 I was hooked but $90k was just too much for me. My coworker let me driver her 3 that she brought a few years ago and it was dope. I was about to buy a Hyundai Sonata Hybrid to replace my 2015 K5 that was totaled back in December (loved that whip) but the stealership was rushing me to buy it so I backed off. I drive a 2017 Tahoe but these rising gas prices under that jackass Magoo in the White House is killing us and why in God's name did he kill the XL Keystone pipeline which helped us to be energy independent under President Trump and kept gas prices very low.....no more at this point. I hope I don't regret the buy but life is short and you can't drive these in Heaven.....Elon Musk has created some next level stuff and I'm excited to be getting this. (I did two tours on Oahu in the Army and loved it over there, met my wife and had our first two sons there.....HOOAH!)

@@Amar-ie9ve Nah, no need to spend the extra $12k for that at this moment which is sort of gimmicky and is not fully ready for “prime time”. My vehicle was delivered last Sunday and so far it’s been cool with just auto-pilot engaged and that takes some getting use to. Save your money and don’t buy FSD because if you sell your Tesla for another model you’ll have to buy the FSD option AGAIN and my God, it’s only a software update!
