Wow just seeing this out of the box kzbin.infoUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

Here in Oz those Halcos are called a slug. During winter when the Tailor (bluefish) are running, they're dynamite in the surf. They're also good to throw at bait balls for trevally, mackeral and tuna. Sometimes it pays to use a wire leader. When Tailor are small we call them "choppers" and when they're bigger we call them "greenbacks". Great fun and good eating.

Just getting back from your area and one thing I learned is the Rocky Bayou in Niceville should be referred to as the Dead Sea, did not talk to a single person who caught a fish in 3 days. Even spoke to a charter captain and he said other then one time his daughters caught a fair amount of mangos off the ramp dock NADA. Beautiful weather though and got to break in my Native Watercraft Slayer kayak so wasn't all bad.
@sclikelly5993 жыл бұрын
Bama, Really enjoyed this Video. Coming from Long Island NY, I've always loved catching and eating Bluefish. You are correct in stating the Blues are larger on the east coast. My personal best is 21 lbs! Caught in mid Nov on a Wreck off LI. During the 80's we would on occasion fish off Montauk LI (OCT & NOV) in an area called the Cartwright Grounds using whole herring double hooked onto 6 - 8 OZ Diamond Jigs. We'd drop em down 80-90 ft and catch 10= 20 lb Bluefish till we were arm weary. It was pretty much a guarantee back then. You would have LOVED it! But the best eating Bluefish are those under 4 lbs IMO. You dont even have to bleed them.

Nice video good to see u back on beach side. You should try a flutter style spoon. Those flat side spoons don’t have much flash or action. I’m going to be down on the 21st can’t wait to try my west coast gear on the gulf. Would be happy to hand off some tackle that no one else throws in your area. Look at Dixie jet or little Cleo or crocodile spoons. Love the vids been a huge help as I gear up for Alabama

I've always wondered if you should throw a spoon like that (I.E. Kastmaster) with or without a swivel. I see some people think you should throw them without swivels because you get a side-to-side dance from the lure, without a turn. You use a swivel, is that from experience? Or just a preference?

Your desire to catch a big blue could happen! We should be seeing some 15 - 20 lbs blues coming past the pier I fish (Surf City Pier on Topsail Island) in just a couple weeks! If you would like to try a lure that's taking Bass Pro Shops, and a lot of other tackle shops, by storm,, you really need to check out Big Nics Fishing on Facebook! The Spanish Candy is a great lure that catches much more than spanish!

I spent a few years fishing SoCal beaches, and everyone was using expensive gear and jerkbaits called LuckyCrafts which were great, but $24....After losing 2 one morning from breaking off on big bat rays, I said Phuck It and opened up my old midwest tackle box. Had a Luhr Jenson Kroc spoon in roughly the same color as the smelt, and with in 1 hour I had 2 big halibut and another missed. I went catching one of the biggest Shortfin Corvina, my biggest Halibut, Corbina, perch, and croaker with them cheap things for the next few years. And ironically i posted a pic on a fishing site with it, and suddenly everyone was using them. But the funny part is they didnt know how to fish the spoon properly. There is a good technique to swim and jig them.
