Ok! Soooo excited you did this. I also own the very expensive Norwex laundry detergent. I like it to clean my microfiber towels and clothes, but NOT bathroom towels. It doesn’t get the smell out and I had to wash my towels twice in vinegar to get the smell out. Also, a great example why I do not use my Norwex towels or any microfiber to clean the toilets. Clorox wipes only! Thank you for your videos. I always look forward to them.

You are so welcome! I think it is a great detergent just a pricy one!! I agree, for my toilet I only use disposable wipes or spray with paper towels. I am glad you enjoy my videos!!!! 😊

Since the dryer seems to be removing more of the bacteria than the washer, can you test the dryer versus hanging the cleaning cloths on the clothes line to dry?

I use this on my Norwex cloth. So this is good to know. I've debated whether to buy more because of the expense right now. I also have the liquid instead of the powder and use that on my Norwex cloths. So I wonder how that compares. Lastly, I have no working dryer right now so I have to hang everything. I wonder after that 24 hours after having washed how that would compare with any bacteria left over after the wash. Thanks for doing!

I haven't tried the liquid detergent and I don't know if I will test it... I find Norwex to be a bit too expensive for me, I get lots of Norwex requests but have a hard time justifying the cost. I do have a video about drying other cloths in the sun, but do not have one for just air drying in the home yet. @@FieldOfFocus Thanks for responding! :) for sure it's too expensive! I only reserve the Norwex washing liquid for my norwex cloths lol I use otherwise Nellie's or more recently True Earth as I don't use chemicals. I think I saw those two videos already a few months ago. :) Thanks for doing all this!!!

Love it thanks! Q: I'm wondering what might disinfect a butcher block cutting board (or any cutting board?) best - isopropyl or H2O2? Have you performed this?
@FieldOfFocus
@FieldOfFocus Жыл бұрын
This is a fantastic question! We are currently building a house, and we chose butcher block countertops. SO once I am moved in there my kitchen counter tests will be on my butcher block counter. I do need to research a bit to learn about care and dos/don'ts for butcher block counters. Until I move in and test, I cannot say yet! I do have a nice wooden cutting board and haven't conducted any testing on that yet, just lack of time right now but I will add this to my list of items to test!
@themikeroberts
@themikeroberts Жыл бұрын
Usually wood cutting boards are multiple pieces glued together so I would not use isopropyl (or any alcohol) on it as alcohol is a good solvent and might dissolve the glue. I don't know enough about h202 and wood though.

Do you think the size of the load effect how clean things are getting? I’ve heard HE washers shouldn’t wash just one or two items since the friction larger loads allows the clothes to be rubbing together to actually do a lot of the cleaning.
@FieldOfFocus
@FieldOfFocus Жыл бұрын
Very possible that the size of the load impacts the cleaning. HE top loaders have a different way of agitating the laundry without the use of agitators. Years ago I read somewhere that the pressure from the spraying in the washer is also contributing to cleaning the laundry. For this video I only wanted to wash the cloths alone since I was conducting a test. I didn't want to swab every towel for a larger wash. Thanks for watching!

That's really interesting. What heat setting did you have on the dryer?
@FieldOfFocus
@FieldOfFocus Жыл бұрын
My dryer was set to the "Towel" setting so that is high heat.
@kimberlindy
@kimberlindy Жыл бұрын
@@FieldOfFocus did you receive instructions with your Norwex cloths that say to dry their cloths on high heat? I found two videos by Norwex on youtube on how to launder and they don't specify the dryer temperature and I can't find anything on their website either. Everything I've read about microfiber says since it's basically plastic/nylon that the fibers start to melt together at high heat, and the highest heat setting to use in the dyer is low heat. Dried on low I would think less bacteria would be killed. When they start to melt all the little strands start to melt together, and then they don't have all the little pockets to pick up bacteria.
@FieldOfFocus
@FieldOfFocus Жыл бұрын
@@kimberlindy my Norwex package says “Launder microfiber cloths with other lint-free laundry using a Norwex laundry detergent. Do not use bleach. Do not use fabric softener or dryer sheets when laundering microfiber as these additives cost the surface of the fibers and reduce the microfiber’s ability to clean effective. For best results, machine dry. Can also be hung to dry. “. So Norwex doesn’t specify a temperature I asked a Norwex rep and she said any temp in dryer should be fine. They are told to boil them in water for a deep clean so didn’t think high heat was an issue at all.
@kimberlindy
@kimberlindy Жыл бұрын
@@FieldOfFocus I did learn that at some point that Norwex stopped telling people to boil them because that melts the fibers as well. I assume the rep you talked to got her instruction before they changed their guidance. In one of the two Norwex how to launder videos I watched, which appear to be the companies own youtube and not a sales reps, I did see someone ask in the comments about what dryer temp to use and Norwex didn't respond, but I did see Norwex respond to other comments. I also just asked the same question to both videos in the comments; if I ever get a response from Norwex directly on dryer temp I'll let you know. But since all microfiber is made from polyester/nylon/polyamide of various filament thicknesses, I would think they would all be suspectible to melting at high heat, and especially if its super-fine strands which Norwex claims to be. All the youtubers I've seen who sell or advise on microfiber say to not use high heat. I would assume if for some reason Norwex microfiber could handle high heat they'd advertise that.

Is it possible the heat killed the bacteria as it was drying?
@FieldOfFocus
@FieldOfFocus Жыл бұрын
I think we can see a clear decrease from before washing, to after the wash, to after drying.. so yes I do think the heat from drying removes any residual bacteria that is unable to be removed from washing alone. 😊
