Maybe the Sleepy Swagman wouldn't poison, but have a heal blocking effect on hit. It would essentially give the enemy an equalizer/back scratcher effect that blocks any healing from a friendly medic or healthpack for around 20 seconds. It's not a movement speed decrease and it's not a damage over time, so it doesn't really interfere with the enemy's ability to play, it just puts them at a disadvantage. Maybe to offset that power, the gun itself would only do about 20-25 base damage so you would have to rely on teammates or your other weapons for killing power. Getting a headshot would be more to maximize the duration of the effect rather than pick someone off. I'm personally a fan of support-focused sniper primaries so I'd be down for this.

Here's an idea for a Sniper secondary: *The Blighty One* (Derived from WW1 slang for a wound that got the soldier sent home) (i) Takes the appearance of a mortar shell with a team-coloured nose. It is thrown similar to Jarate or Mad Milk. Stats are based on Jarate. (+) Deals up to 120 damage in an explosion when it hits, and a minimum of 40 at the edge of the explosion. Deals 30-50 self-damage. (+) Deals significant knockback comparable to a rocket (-) -30% explosion radius (Jarate radius is enormous, way too big for an explosive weapon) (-) Does not inflict any status effect (i) Has a 20 second recharge time In short, this weapon fills a mobility/spam role, sacrificing some of Jarate's killing power for mobility - currently Sniper has not a single mobility option in his kit.

Nice to see people are still taking about weapon ideas. As a frequent pastime of mine, I love looking up other people’s Ideas. I do however want to throw my “2 cents” in. I’ll try to keep this short. The unscoped rifle: I get the feeling it would be super easy to get godlike with this. As snipers main handicap is that he gets tunnel visioned making him easy to kill. Besides thats the bow’s whole game. The flaming galah: let’s face it, this is just a razorback with extra steps. (Though the name is great) Boomerang: solid, we all have an Idea for it. Though I don’t think it should recharge, as it would become rather spammy. Force the player to either resupply or fetch it, adding an extra layer of strategy and risk. As for my own ideas, I think sniper needs at least 1 new SMG perhaps a new Melee or maybe a new throwable, but no new rifles. I think we have a good selection of primaries. My current Ideas, for those of you who are interested are listed bellow “The Aussie’s annihilator”/ “The ANZAC Automatic” - 1920’s tommy gun with increased mag size. Rate of fire increases whilst firing, but Accuracy decreases whilst firing. Kinda makes sniper a pseudo heavy. And gives him the ammo to hold down a point. “The compact killer” - Mac/uzi/CZ scorpion style SMG (preferably held like a pistol) with a faster deploy speed and move speed on kill. But less accurate, and a high melee damage vulnerability on wearer. A panic weapon that leaves you vulnerable if you miss your shots. But that can grant mobility, and when chained well can make sniper a pseudo scout. A weapon for reaching cool new vantage points. Or just running away. “The surplus sidearm”/“The survivalists sidearm” a sten or similar designed SMG from WWII (there is a beautiful lanchester mkI* on the workshop) that drops a small health pack on kill. But you receive 50-75% less healing and ammo from medics and dispensers. An SMG that really embraces sniper’s “don’t rely on other people” attitude. A weapon that allows you to be more independent but forces you to look after yourself. Other concepts. “The big game backup” A sawed off shotgun (short barrels, no stock) mad max style. Similar in use to “the compact killer” with knockback rather than move speed on kill. An inaccurate panic weapon for dealing with close range targets but with heavy punishments for missing. An unscoped double barrel hunting shotgun designed for killing jumper classes (like the reserve shooter) I do however think that this has been preposed on the workshop before. And kinda would rather see this stat as a new AA gun for heavy. “The Rangers revolver”/“The scoped six based off the hunting revolver from Fallout New Vegas A scoped revolver with a 6 round magazine and a Lower attack interval than the rifles. But with less base damage and the need to reload it. Perhaps one round at a time. (I must say that I came up with it after decideing that the best way to rebalance sniper is probably to decrease his RoF, by giving him a longer animation between shots. Something like 2 - 3 seconds while he cycles the bolt and hand loads a round) A grappling hook for melee, throwable to let you get to new areas...dunno could be WAY OP, or just bad A pistol...please valve....please? Well that was way longer than I expected. If you managed to read this far then you have my thanks and respect. Yeah, that's why I made it a "secondary idea" I have always thought of it as a pipe dream, but stranger things have happened. I've fallen in love with Ashe in Overwatch so the first weapon sounds right up my alley, though I do worry about how easy it would be to deal 150 headshots up close. I think it'd either need reduced overall damage while still critting or increased overall damage with mini-crits instead. I'm also curious how charging would work. The backpack would be overpowered in a competitive setting and would most likely get banned. Also, the idea of a weapon that tricks enemies by looking a lot like another weapon isn't a good idea imo. TF2 is fairly fast paced so it's important to be able to instantly identify weapons so you know how to react. For a Spy to take a gamble on getting punished for doing his job sounds annoying lol. I like the thought process behind the Boomerwang but it would probably be better off as a secondary with a cooldown like the cleaver. For the crossbow I was thinking of something like a cross between the Machina and Huntsman. +On full charge: Arrows penetrate players up to (x) amount of players. +On full charge: Arrows can ricochet off walls (x) times -Ricocheted arrows deal less damage and cannot headshot -(x)% slower reload speed You can fire the crossbow without scoping in but the arrow would behave like it was ricocheted. So it's deal reduced damage (maybe around 60 or so) and couldn't headshot. But it could still fire instantly like you said in your idea, after a hefty reload though.

For the sleepy swagsman, it could deal 5 damage uncharged, 50 full charge, but then slow them down and deal after burn damage (but poison) at a slightly slower rate. The more charge=more poison damage, and getting hit with 3 uncharged shots or 2 fully charged shots will stun them.(if the enemy is still taking poison damage, it will stack to the “stun meter”) It should head shot, just so it could deal with enemy snipers, but it deals 15% less on a head shot so you can’t one shot 150 health classes.

Charles R Hayden I know it’s nowhere close to being the same thing, but the Classic is an already existing example of basically no scope while still being able to headshot from long range. I know that the weapon described really isn’t like the Classic at all, but I think the lessened zoom and falloff stats can kinda use a bit of what the Classic has as a guideline, since this would still have more zoom than a no-scope Classic shot (not mentioning the other Classic stats). I’m not trying to argue one way or another, I just wanted to say this.

@@envisci_bi Well, the reason the huntsman doesn't do well at long range is more to do with the fact that it has a projectile that is decently easy to dodge. This weapon would be hitscan, though, so it would really be closer to the Classic than to the Huntsman. In fact, if you were to remove the damage at range penalty, it really just looks like an objectively better version of the Classic.

Maybe the boomerang would stun enemy’s on hit for 0.5 seconds and if it hit twice it launches the enemy towards you for a easy melee kill downside is you have 25 percent less normal damage and you can’t hit for 0.3 seconds after it comes back there’s also a 20 percent chance to hit yourself and be stunned

Fun fact, that weapon is kind of like the hunters rifle that was in the original team fortress to the beta. Varian had a weapon, called the hunting revolver, which removed the scope, but gave them the ability to ADS, but made them a very good close range combat sniper thing. 2:51

So, for the sleepy swagman. I came up with this. Charging the sniper allows for up to three darts to be shot in one burst with individual clicks. What I mean is this. Charge is divided into three sections if uncharged you shoot a dart that is hitscan (or almost if you want to be more realistic). When shooting only one shot reload time is normal. (Basically same fire speed), if you charge up two or three shots then shoot, you can shoot at the fire speed of a normal shotgun. (Idk how else to phrase it but point is you can shoot them faster than normal).Each shot deals 40 damage and poison acts like bleed and slows the enemy similar to the current sandman slow. Enemy is poisoned (same as bleed)for 3seconds total for 5 points each each second)Totalling in 55 damage per shot. If hitting the same person, poison time does not stack. If you headshot someone the poison lasts for 3 seconds still but does 10 damage per tick. This gives a total of 40+30=70 damage per shot. Initial damage does not increase. Headshot poison damage will do normal time and not be cut off by normal poison. What I mean by this is if you headshot a person, then body shot them. They will still do the 10 damage ticks until the three seconds is done. But (I just thought of this now) headshot poison damage does stack meaning if you hit one person with two headshots then they will take 6 seconds of 10 damage ticks this will do a total of 40+40+60=140 damage. I think this would be great mainly cause I just thought of it. This might have sounded very confusing but I like it a lot.

The reckless rifleman in my opinion is: +Better then classic +Hitscan Huntsman -Stuck to mid-point blank- (My mistake, it will deal 150 damage each headshot, bad for quick picks on good snipers) Overall: Greatly balanced. The Flaming Galah in my opinion is: +Straight upgrade from razorback +Backstab attempts nullified unless lost -Take around a possible -40 DMG -Dead ringer may nullify this ?Possibly worse then Razorback incase Razorback does not refill with ammo n stuff *Possibly addable* *-Take more damage then spy* *-Spy is knocked back to safety with fireball* Overall: Possibly straight upgrade unless you are lucksmanning aggressivaly The Boomerwanger: +ohgodohfuck,png moments when a scout or anyone comes infront of you are destroyed +Direct upgrade from stock for good snipers -Possible lost damage -No crits meaning no funny *Possible changes* *+Enemies are slightly slower* *-Marked for death while holding which will wear off after you unequip for 3s* Overall: A bit unbalanced depening on the knockback Please tell me if you think i got anything wrong Give me some ideas for what i should change boenus conepct +upgraded huntsman +I MEAN ITA -cant spam -cant fire while reloading BUT IT HAS A 1/1 CLI- Overall: upgrood frum hansmen

I don't think I worded that right. What I meant is that with the bow you can fire a weaker shot if you are caught while pulling the string back but with the crossbow you wouldn't be able to do this. I'm not sure of a good way to word this.

Lever Action Primary Ammo 10/50 Alt-Fire ability: A rapid shot that increases in speed each shot. One of the upsides would be that there will be an increase in fire rate. But the downsides being a major decrease in damage.

I actually had a similar idea with the Reckless Rifleman. The mechanic was that it would reload and scope faster while only having about 1.25% magnification while scoped, plus it would deal 20% less damage as a whole. The idea stemmed from a backpack design that would give you one "Supplies" for every kill you got, and you could throw "Supplies" to teammates for a small health/ammo kit. The hunting rifle or Reckless Rifleman would have the small buff of giving two "Supplies" per kill instead of one.

5:58 a cool downside can be that you need to catch it by using your melle butto again and if you fail you get hit by the sharp end and it causes bleeding

That bear trap is a really good idea. I've long thought that a Sniper setting up trip wire across a corridor would be a cool, thematic "hunter-trapper" thing - a bear trap is that with a load more convenience piled on top.

For the sleepy swagman, I'm not sure if it would be balanced even in the slightest, but maybe at full charge the poison (takes away 4 health per second just like stock afterburn or bleed) can last up to 60-90 seconds, but it doesn't kill enemies and just leaves them on 1 hp until they either get healed from some source (which always cancels the poison) or the timer runs out

I made my own set for Sniper-junkrat set: -scope grenade launcher-without scope shoots like demoman's launcher, but with scope fires strait. Has 5 rounds magazine. -bear trap-you can place it on floor or walls for trap enemies. -road sight-when enemy less than 50% of health hit minicrits

Having an auto-chamber primary such as a Carbine would be very cool as you could have a faster fire rate but less accuracy or maybe no ramp up so it always does 150 for headshot and 50 for body

One idea I was thinking of for a rifle was one that prioritizes knockback or somethin'. One that may stun them for a couple seconds but at the sacrifice of a 75%-100% damage penalty. And the level of zoom equates to the time they're stunned. 0-25% = 1 sec, 25-50% 2 sec, 50-75% for 3 sec, and 75-99% for 4 sec, and 100% for 5 sec. There could also be a slower zoom buildup, so it makes waiting all the more worth it. The general look would be a rifle with a fat barrel that just shoots a big rubber bullet or a ball of sorts. Idk how overpowered it could be, but its just somethin' I think could add a different playstyle to sniper. Although I think it might have some of the same issues as the sandman

Here's my ideas for this stuff: -The flaming galah should be crafted using he razorback and gaspasser -The boomerwanger should be crafted using the conniver's kunai and refined metal or something idk -The crazed crossbow should be crafted using the fortified compound and the hitman's heatmaker -The sleepy swagman uses the sydney sleeper and the crusader's crossbow

Suggestion for the Boomerwanger Goes like a normal boomerang (the oval) - If hits wall, then you have to get another one + Induces bleed - 50% chance of getting extra damage dealt if missed shot/hit wall Suggestions for Sleepy Swagman + Spreads as disease - Can only be spread to teammates with 1/4 of their HP gone - Chance to gain immunity for a life (Unaffected by poison) + Headshots invert movement & firing controls (e.g w to go back instead of s and RMB aiming the sniper rifle) - Poison enables friendly fire - Poison has symptoms + Poison symptoms show after 1 minute of being poisoned + No indicator that you are poisoned + Rife says its a level 5 stock rifle

I like your idea for a Primary, but I think the stats could be more suited to a Classic buff. Though, changing the classic would probably be pointless, given it's meant to emulate the OG Sniper in TFC.

The dart rifle could apply the slowness effect to make it easier for you and your team to hit the target. Similar to the Sydney Sleeper, it would be more of a support weapon. The downside would probably be no crits on headshot (but headshots apply a stronger/longer slowness effect). With those stats alone you might as well use a normal rifle to kill the target instead of slowing them, so it should also have a fast reload speed so you can hit multiple targets. This way you could potentially eliminate multiple targets faster but only if your team is there to finish them off.

An idea I had for sniper would be modelled off of the lee Metford carrying more ammo ( around 30 ) having a 10 round clip that loads five at a time, does not charge, does 100 damage bodyshot, does not random crit and uses ironsights of the lee Metford which are harder to see through than a dot A taunt kill I thought off could incorporate a bayonet, either using it like the steb steb steb or could be modelled attached with a fast taunt kill stabbing and raising the body before slamming it down Making it better at med and very close range but not good at closer range as it could have a slower fire rate At one point this was given to British commonwealth soldiers and the sniper being Australian would have a reason to have it and the name could be a reference to this It offers more reliable damage bodyshotting with it only one shotting big earner spies and headshots could do mini crits instead of full crits if it seems a bit too op

I liked your idea for that one Sniper weapon that allows a Sniper to be more self aware but I also had a simular idea for the Sniper to have a weapon called The Mad Minute (Reference to the Lee Enfield as I think it be cool for Sniper to have a Lee Enfield looking weapon) that allows him to headshot enemies without having to charge up a shot or zoom in at the cost of headshots doing only mini crits or completely removing charged shots and he could have a rage meter which would drastically increase his firing rate or just allow it to shoot a bit faster at the cost of having an actual reload which could take a few seconds leaving the Sniper vulnerable every 10 shots kind of working like a Sniper/Huntsman hybrid that doesn't suck like the Classic. I think your Boomerang idea is almost perfect heck I wonder how I never thought of a Boomerang weapon for Sniper but a good tweak to stop it from being too overpowered is if your not having your melee slot out while throwing the Boomerang when it came back to you it would hurt you. I also saw a few mods in the workshop that replaces the Snipers SMG with a sten gun looking weapon and a good weapon name for it that I've been seeing for it is the Outback Defender which could either act as a reskin for the stock SMG or could have some stats related to its name like a bonus in damage while firing at a sniper who is attacking a enemy teammate but I don't think that would be as useful as using your Sniper so I'm sure a lot of you could come up with better stats or accept that it shouldn't probably be a stock reskin which is not a bad thing. Lastly but not least I thought of a good secondary for Sniper where it's like a ammo pack that he could throw at friendly buildings to heal them or something he could throw at his teammates to help them refill there Ammo or Metal so Sniper could have some more scinergy with the Engineer at the cost of not carrying a secondary and functioning simular to the Sandvich for Heavy.

The boomerang would have to be a secondary because that would mean that he could have no weapon, rifle (no ammo), backpack or smg (no ammo), and the boomerang (recently used)
