I really these ideas especially the sapper one! Would be cool if it needed 3-4 hits to remove from a building and it sapps all the buildings in a radius so that the team would need to come in fast. The gun idea was great too, but I think you can shoot 2-3 while disguised before you undisguise and then the enemy will also know from where the shots came from. Also a slower Forderung Speed while not disguised and a slower switchspeed. 3. weapon was a great idea too, but I think when you throw it away it should make 60-75% of the normal damage so no instant kill. It just weakens them so you can finish them off, they can still react in that time so it wouldn‘t be too op and after the knife is thrown it should have a 3 seconds cooldown, before you get it back

That’s not actually a terrible idea. Maybe give the backstabbed player friendly fire to their teammates, so that they might accidentally kill their teammates out of instinct of being shot. Would be hilarious in pubs

@@Don_Kedic you don't play much spy do you? Ask any spy if they would rather rely on disguises or cloak and they would always say cloak. A weapon removing access to cloak would have to have to be incredibly powerful to make it worth it (think dead ringer), and the proposed idea for the dress to supress is just not powerful enough to make up for not having a cloak.

Disguise kit idea: Name: The poker face Looks like a deck of playing cards in a small cardboard box. Opening it will pull out a card with a mercenary on it with a matching class number and color with black instead of blue. Has a killing taunt where spy will deal out the cards, and then flick one in that way where it can cut through wood. (this is the killing part obviously) Allows you to "bluff" with a primary or secondary while disguised, which mimics the attacking animation of whatever you're disguised as. This allows you to be much more convincing when being around enemies. The trade off is that to disguise you have to flip through the cards until you find who you're looking for, but the cards will always be in a set order. If you want a fast disguise however, you can "draw a card" which will disguise you as a random class. You can also press B with the weapon you're already holding to switch to mimicking its alt-fire. This is the only way to use melee weapons without breaking disguise, but you can't mimic the actual alt-fire of melee weapons that have it. You can't actually shoot people like this, and all projectiles will go through teammates and enemies. If you use the medigun it will connect a beam and the enemy will see the healer thing but no healing will actually be done. You cannot mimic an uber. With the sandvich using it will always throw it on the ground but it just disappears instead of healing when picked up. Jarate, the gas passer, and mad milk will still coat people but there will be no mini crits or life steal. The wrangler will give sentries the shield and they will aim where you do but only when it doesn't have a target. The moment it sees someone it will ignore you and shoot them. Trying to demo charge will make it look like something interrupted it very early into the charge. You can put sappers on your own teammates buildings and the teleporter and dispenser will look like they are disabled but the sentry will just have a not very convincing sapper on it. Cloaking while disguised as an enemy spy will make you still visible to enemies so you'd better make sure that you're really convincing if you try him. If you have an enemy spy's knife, attacking near a teammate will always do the butter knife animation even if behind them. Swinging a wrench at buildings will show healing particles to enemies. You can actually mimic other classes taunts, and you can taunt kill your own teammates. And finally, if YOU have the dead ringer (not your disguise,) then you can pretend to be killed by a teammate for the most convincing fake death. I might've missed some things.

@@slashbows If you want a specific disguise it will take much longer because you have to flip through to find it. And if anyone sees your attacks going through people that aren't them you're busted. You'd have to make sure that everything misses, which could also be a red flag.

Knife ideas: 1. Stalkers Stiletto + allows you to attack while cloaked - automatically activates cloak when deployed - 25% faster cloak drain on wearer 2. The deed + instantly activates cloak on backstab + makes no noise - prevents manual cloaking - forces you to wait out your cloak, and then refill meter before you can backstab again 3. The Viper + 25% faster move on wearer - Backstabs make you unable to cloak and backstab for 8 sek, and your target doesn't die untill the period is over, and only if you are alive by then. 4. The sacreficial dagger + refills your cloak on backstab - 50% less less cloak meter 5. Parrying dagger + attack at someone who hits you with a melee weapon to nullify the damage and disable their melee attacks for 0.5 sek. - cloak provides no protection 6. The big stick + 50% base damage - Does not kill on backstab, instead stuns for 0.5 sek and marks for death for 3 sek.

I could also imagine that the sap-porter when used on a teleporter entrance all the buildings by the exit also get stopped but on a much shorter radius and can not go through multiple teleporters, because the fact that a deal zero damage it would really help with spies going through back lines and finding a teleporter entrance

There actually is a weapon like the dress to supress on the workshop with more interesting stats, its called the Welrod and it has 1 shot, is silent and if you backstab someone you get "silent points" with these silent points you can shoot in disguise, another downside is that you take more damage in disguise

Yall do know that the welrod was a small caliber bolt action handgun with a integrated silencer firing subsonic rounds developed by the allies in world War two. The 1 round actually makes sense in this context as every shot the shooter has to work the action between shots. The other stats not so much

Sapper idea: Werewolf’s Bite (+) •Turns enemy buildings to a friendly team after a few seconds (-) •Buildings are downgraded a level when sapped-if level 1, they are destroyed slower than a normal sapper. (-) • If the “team transfer” is successful, the ghost building’s health is drained by 5 health a second while active. They can be upgraded by friendly engineers, but not healed. (-/+) The opposing engineer can build the building while it’s “ghost” counterpart is active, but if more than 2 of a single building exists made by that engineer, the oldest is destroyed. (To prevent a huge amount of buildings made by a single engineer, if a spy saps his buildings rapidly)

Remove the health drainage. That will make this sapper too weak for anyone to use it. However, if the Engie who built it changes class/disconnects, destroy all of his buildings including the Werewolf'd ones. And, he can take out the Destruction PDA and remotely destroy it.

For your knife, start off with one knife with one on cooldown. Can have up to 3 knifes ready at a time. 1 of those 3 is the one in hand. This means it will take some time to grab another knife. (.75 seconds?)

Maybe there can be a sapper called the “forgettable fiancé” which is a heart shaped box with a heart monitor on it and the idea is that like the gunboats you just slap ‘em on and forget about them while it pumps you full of adrenaline and makes you faster by 20% but after about 3 minutes if you didn’t die already, it will short out and you will have to find an ammo box to be able to fix it. Until then you’re moving at stock speed

I might add something like a slower than stock speed, maybe 90% or 85% or something without it and you suffer “withdrawal” without it where you slowly begin taking damage until you replenish it. This suddenly puts you in a panic as you search for an ammo pack and even while cloaked enemies can still see your blood.

Remember, this weapon doesn't disable buildings or deal any damage. If you don't have a team to shoot the sentry you won't be able to destroy it. Plus you can't spam the sapper in front of the engi's face because of the cooldown.

Example: A spy places the sapper in the sentry. The sentry doesn't desactivate or recive damage from the sapper, but is MARKED by it. A soldier throws a rocket to the sentry, dealing 140 damage instead of 100. After another shot, the sentry explodes dealing 50 damage to Engi next to it and 200 damage to the dispenser next to it.

How about a sapper where it has a -50% sap time on enemy buildings, -25% weapon change speed when going to/from the sapper, but it can upgrade friendly buildings to the next level. It only works once per building.

I like all of these ideas! Some thoughts below - The Dress to Supress is a good name, and the weapon-as-concept works well for casual. For competitive, it's hard to find a way to make the weapon work, due to small and consistent team sizes. A Spy's disguises only work for so long before the enemy figures out the interloper based on simple maths (do we have three engineers on our team? etc.), and in that interim a Spy would have to do more to accomplish something than some pistol shots. Still, it's an interesting concept that could work very well for casual. My take: + Can fire from disguise without breaking it. + No damage direction notification for struck enemies. - For 3s after firing, Spy's native movement speed is reduced to 230 HU/s - the same as Heavy's. This means that no matter the disguise, Spy always moves as slow as a Heavy. - Halved reserve ammunition pool. Spy can't fire indefinitely. - No random crits. Getting critted from a disguised distant Spy is just frustrating. - The Lobster is an amusing name, if admittedly one that practically demands an accompanying visual cue. I'll let a talented graphics modeller and skinner design a Spy knife that looks good, fits with the TF2 style and conveys a crustaceous theme before I recommend the name too much. The concept is very interesting but must be substantially balanced, with most of the suggestions in the video stacking up okay. My take: + On use: knife is thrown, arcing a short distance in front of the player. = Knife sticks in enemy player's corpses, and otherwise bounces or clatters off objects and surfaces. - Knife must be collected, or the player must wait 30s for another knife to regenerate, no help from ammo packs - After a backstab: No backstabs for 5s - The Sap-porter is a good concept, perhaps the weakest name of the group however as it sounds like it helps the Spy's teammates rather than simply diffusing a Sapper's usual work across multiple targets. Not sure what to suggest as an alternative - "The Network Problem" came to mind but it doesn't have a Spy-specific (Spycific?) pun involved so eh. I think the drawbacks listed are a little much, assuming that Engies and Pyros can still remove the thing with melee strikes. I wouldn't consider making the device indestructible to such attacks however, as completely shutting done a nest guaranteed for X seconds is too powerful. My take: + Spy can place this sapper on enemy buildings or neutral, non-team or objective-related surfaces (ie most walls and floors) + Disables all enemy buildings within a small-to-modest radius - Deals no damage - Spy must wait X seconds for another sapper to recharge, no help from ammo packs - The Crab-o-matic actually COULD work ... if you stop looking at it as a kind of disguise. Instead, view it as a modification to invisibility: a Spy could remain indefinitely invisible if they are stood next to a building, friend or foe, sort-of hiding INSIDE the building. Okay, so this is basically insane, but I find the idea of a Spy crouching underneath a Sentry gun or clinging to a teleporter as it whirls around funny. Make it an alt diguise kit or something, I dunno. - The Phaser concept is very interesting and definitely workable. It would have to work differently for disguised and undisguised Spies, for balance as much as for the sake of button economy (can't have too many right-click options). I'd have it as an alt-disguise kit that modifies the user's invisiwatch as follows: + While disguised: right click to phase all damage for 0.5 of a second + User has 3 phase charges, each of which takes 12 seconds to recharge - Phase charges also drain a portion of watch battery on use - Cannot cloak while disgusied = While undisguised: right-clicking activates a phase charge as well as cloaking/de-cloaking I quite like the name "Le Fantome" for the above. - Spy feigning attacks is a very-well-done concept by now, yet it still carries potential and interest. My take is it as an alt-revolver, styled as a lasery-sfx pistol that looks like a prop from a campy Bond film: = This weapon uses a battery and never needs to reload. + While disguised: Spy will feign a primary-fire action with his disguise's active weapon + Medigun disguises can lock on and feign healing a teammate, granting fake health that disappears on taking damage or real Medigun healing. - Most disguise shots drain 1/9th of the total battery, or drains the battery with 5s of continuous fire from Pistols, SMGs, Flamethrowers, Miniguns, Syringe Guns and Mediguns - Spy is forced to fully reload after emptying a mag from his disguise's weapon - Undisguised shots: 75% damage penalty, drain 1/18th of the battery My suggestion name is "The Swoonraker". - Creating a fake playerbot is one of my favourite ideas, and the implementation I've come to favour is as an alt-disguise kit. This diminishes Spy's ability to disguise himself in return for creating up to a small number of fakes running about, which can follow simply programming to attack, strafe, patrol or watchover an area, stand idle or so on. My take: + Disguise kit creates fake playerbots from default menu = Playerbots can be programmed from a number of conditional behavours, accessible by right clicking on the disguise menu + Different classes can have a different preassigned default behaviour + Playerbots take damage and can be killed and leave a fake kill feed notification + Spy can deploy a bot every 4s - Each playerbot uses one of 3 charges, each taking 30s to recharge - Spy must access alternative menu to disguise self - Disguising costs 2 charges and has a doubled duration - Playerbots cannot damage or affect enemies in any way besides as a distraction - Playerbot corpses vanish shortly after death - Playerbots die and disappear instantly from melee hits with no killfeed notification I'd call this "The Doubleteam". Edit: missed a concept! - The Poison idea is *very* difficult to work, but I like it and I think it's worth giving the good boy a shot. + Successful backstabs do not break disguises + On hit: inflicts bleed + Bleed lasts for 20s on a backstab, and the status and damage are kept invisible from the enemy + Backstabbed enemies that touch teammates pass on 10s of bleed, also invisible - Enemy Medics can see the Bleed status of teammates by mousing over them - No damage on a backstab - 75% damage penalty on a frontstab

Shpee gun idea. Prop Gun Does 20 damage max (not counting mini/full crits) Has disguise able to shoot phoney weapons that deal 20 damage. When shot with projectile based weapons, it takes on their attributes while still dealing 20 damage on direct hit at dangerclose range. Flamethrower will have a delay so 1 shot will look about 1 full second worth of fuel to others. If you can think of anyway to make this weapon more plausible, please leave a reply. ^_^

For the first one, I think another debuff should be a very high holster speed so you can't switch to knife quickly, due to how OP shooting while disguised is.

The silenced pistol sounds great. As does the disguise upgrade. Maybe a disguise watch that has a cool down similar to an inviswatch that allows no collision with enemies / projectiles pass through ect while active and firing a weapon while active fires your disguised weapon. Cooldown could be adjusted for balance as could increasing charge from ammo ect.

Zapper alternatives: (I know the names suck and details are messy, but same as video, mostly high concept ideas) 1. The explosive. > Builds a pool of damage over time, which can be released in a small explosion by using the zapper again once at least 50% of a buildings health will be removed. + Damages nearby enemies for 50% of the damage dealt to the building. + Does not automatically alert the engineer when used. - Does no damage untill activated - Does not disable buildings - Only one may be deployed at a time 2. The hacker + Redeploys building with ypur team colour instead of destroying them - 15% slower zapping rate - Is instantly removed by a single swing of a weapon that removes zappers. - new building can't be healed or upgraded 3. the right tool in the wrong place + can be remote activated at any time after it has been attached to a building if the spy is within range (like sentry range or so). + Cannot be seen or removed untill activated + makes all the difference in the world - only one can be used at the same time - Dissapairs on death - 20% slower rate of damage 4. The red herring + Can be applied at a distance + Cannot be removed - Buildings still work as normal, they simply appair to be disabled to enemies when not active. - Dissapairs after one minute 5. Sapper idea: Pros: This sapper cannot be destroyed by anything other than itself. This sapper has increased health. Sapped buildings are outlined, revealing them to your teammates. Cons: This sapper deals damage to itself instead of to buildings. Once this sapper is destroyed the sapped buildings become unsappable for a short time and also get healed for the amount of damage taken whilst being sapped. Weapon function: A heavily support oriented sapper, encouraging your team to make a strong push or eat shit once the sapper runs its course.

maybe to balance the lobster: you can still use it normal with mouse 1, and with mouse 2 you throw it with a cooldown, so if you throw it to take out someone from far away you can't use your knife for a couple of seconds.

For the Sap-Porter, there should be an upside of "No damage reduction on sapped buildings" meaning that you can have no damage reduction (for those of you who don't know, a Spy attacking a building that they are sapping will do less damage than normal) while sapping a building. Teixas then explain why sniper can break the class mold and spy can't, if sniper can the huntsman and have be able to do close range combat then spy should be able to do long range combat. Spy's game play is straightforward: go behind enemy lines by cloaking, stab closest/high priority targets with knife, use gun in needed/or trickstab them, cloak and run away, and repeat. Spy has the least flexible of the classes. Scout can use mad milk can be a semi-support class for the team. soldier can also be semi-support like with banners and be a team player. Pyro can becomes a pybro with homewrecker or a pyro shark in the waters when the maps have waters and they use the neon annilator. Demoman can be demoknight and cause trouble for his enemies. Heavy can go fat scout with a shotgun, simple enough. Engineer can go battle engie with the gunslinger and becomes a half offense half defensive class. Medic is well already flexible with the different type of medic guns and ubers, and then there's also battle medic too. Sniper can go huntsman and arrow people from short *and* long ranges. And what does spy have? Two of the same watches and a nerfed into the grounded Dead Ringer and Ambassador, both need a buff one needs to be buffed and nerfed in a different way (DR) and other needs its stats need to reverted (Amby) all of his guns, knives, and watches are pretty closely alike in play styles with nothing to change it up for spy. At most he can do is trickstab which gets boring after a while or get him killed anyways even when he should have just cloaked and ran away. A range knife would make it more interesting to play spy, a weak and not very flexible class

@@ZaTrapu since you mention sniper, he does make a significant trade off for the huntsman, he loses his hitscan garanteed kill on all classes in exchange for being able ot engage ni closer fights with the same threat, but now max damage is only 360 and subject to bullet drop and travel time. this means the huntsman sniper cannot one shot heavies and overhealed soldiers reliably anymore+ as the arrow use projectile physics now thet are blockable by physically standing in front of the target., this allows sniper ot paly agressively, but it huts his previous playstyle. this suggestion on the other hand is a straight upgrade to the spy playstyle in what his core does, assasinate and disable high priority targets. there would be n oreal reason to go back to the regular knife without a significant downside.

Lobster should have the hidden killfeed cause then you could pick off enemies without them knowing. Which would be a different play style too. The sapporter is also a great idea, maybe it should be like the gersh device from COD where it absorbed/disables anything (projectiles/buildings) for a short while. This makes the spy’s infiltration potentially more potent

Tbh I thought the building disguise concept was really interesting. It sort of reminds me of a mimic! It would be fascinating to see a spy warding people off for a little longer by disguising as a friendly sentry, or making them put their guard down thinking that they have a supportive sentry/dispenser near by. Lots of trickery to be had!

Invis watch ideas: 1. The fake double > makes you invisible, and creates a fake illusory copy that runs away. - damage to copy drains cloak equal to damage taken (copy is a bot which cannot attack, and which all character and projectiles pass through. It moves in a random direction and is supposed to act suspiciously so it can be detected) 2. The master of disguise > removes the ability to cloak, but serves as a hitpoint buffer that lets damage from enemies drain cloak while appairing to have no effect on you (counters spy checking), and lets you pass through enemies at the cost of cloak. For that idea near the end, you could call it the "Traitorous Toxin" it injects a health sapping virus (only when you backstab) that can be spread from player to player (cross-team too) by running into them. For downsides, i think Health Packs/Uber could get rid of it, the switch speed would be abysmal, and you'd get only one syringe per life. You could also only be able to backstab, and when the syringe is emptied, you just get a weaker version of the knife (it still looks like a syringe) that can't backstab.

I feel like the first weapon would be very useful for fighting engineers. Usually when you sap a building within a short distance of the engineer, they will start attacking you. And usually you will respond by shooting the engineer with your revolver since going for the trickstab can be unreliable, especially if you are not skilled at them. However, if the sentry suddenly becomes unsapped during this altercation, (either via a second engineer, a helpful pybro, or that weird technique from uncle dane's spy video) then you are suddenly within firing range of a sentry gun without a proper disguise and you will probably die. With the "Dressed to Supress" equipped, then you won't lose your disguise even when you're shooting and in that same worst-case scenario, you could probably escape to prepare a future attack. perhaps the best way to balance it in this case would be to have sentries notice when you shoot them or their teammates and respond by opening fire. That way you couldn't simply shoot the sentry instead of sapping it and you couldn't keep shooting the engineer even after they remove the sapper from their gun. which would tip the battle a little too hard in your favor. as for other downsides, they should be something that doesn't hinder you when combating sentry nests while still making the gun not equivalent or better than stock in other scenarios. perhaps the gun could have more damage fall-off than other guns or even have less accurate shots, making the DtS less effective at long-range combat, which isn't usually a factor when fighting engineers. this may not be entirely accurate to real life silencers, but remember that this is the game where brass knuckles do less damage than your bare fists (or bear fists). This has nothing to do with anything that this gun currently does, but obviously it should actually silence the revolver's shots, which could help for pestering enemies like you initially planned since it'll be harder for them to tell who's shooting them when they have trouble hearing where the bullet was fired from.

I think that when you disguise as a building, moving removes your disguise, but disguising as certain building gives you certain stats (e.g. dispenser greatly overheals you, sentry can shoot while disguised, etc.

I know this is very old but still Dress to Suppress - Can be shot while cloaked - Consumes Stealth Watch's ammo (Maximum 4 shot while full gauge) - No bullet trace - Damage drop off is 20% more - Each shot can not over exceed 40 damage(minimum damage of 15 according your distance with the enemy)

The suave syringe (name wip) It’s a syringe weapon and that’s bout it On backstab you don’t instakill but rather apply a poison effect that slowly kills the enemy at 6 dps. If they touch their teammate their teammate is also infected but only takes 4 dps. The effect can only be removed by resupply or medium health packs

Reason for the name and the frontstab mechanic: It is a reference to the knife used in "12 Angry Men" and the model would look the same as the knife in "12 Angry Men" as well. A proper stab form this type of switchblade would come from under-and-up, instead of the normal over-and-down we're used to.

This will take the sapper slot : A AOE cloke feild. How make everyone in a radius invisible, but this includes enemy's. And you won't be invisible as you would have your personal cloke watch, it would a stationary and only last 15-30 sec. It can be one shoted, it any one that fires wile in the cloke feild will become visable. And anyone in it can't be uberd,vor have any crits. Idk if this is a good idea but what ever

I got one a disguise kit he could turn into any prop in the game and can stil turn into the 9 classes or a Gun to slow your enemys down to eacape?

The dressed to suppress might be nice for finishing a weak but vital enemy without blowing your cover too hard

I think the Dress to Suppress should also have silent shots, with the caveat of reduced damage and a slower firing speed.

Here's an idea: A reverse sapper. Instead of sapping enemy buildings, you stick it on allied buildings to buff them. Additionally, if an enemy spy tries to sap the building, the reverse sapper acts as a shield that the enemy sapper has to burn through before it can destroy the building. However, the RTR bypasses this and leaves the reverse sapper intact until the building fully reverses.

Suppressors do theoretically make a gun “more powerful.” By increasing muzzle velocity (the speed at which the bullet leaves the gun) by about 1-2%

For the Dress to Suppress maybe the slow holster and deploy animations could be Spy putting on and taking off the suppressor, instead of him just very slowly moving it.

Here’s my concept for a spy melee: The prisoner’s préférence. This knife would just be a sharpened tool brush. Successful saps or backstabs (like the diamondback) start to fill your ‘Tromperie’ bar. Once your bar is full, you mimic the movement abilities and actions of the person you’re disguises as. For example, if the person your disguised as is a scout, you can now run as fast and double jump. Disguised as heavy, you move slower and take less knockback. This part is a bit dumb but you can also do taunts exclusive to the class you’re disguised as, such as “cheers mate” or “is anyone keeping tracks of the heads I’ve batted in? Bonk!”. You also get a marker towards where the person you’re copying is. The main downside is the knife can ONLY do backstabs, and the angle of backstab is decreased.

8:56 great idea for that, name Blinker, a watch. and you hold right click while disguised to blink. blink rapidly drains cloak meter. no invisibility with cloak. no cloak from ammo boxes or dispensers, because you could use it to phase into the dispenser.
