Anyone can tell a story, but it takes a true master to have those who are listening to the story actually get invested in it, as if they themselves were witnesses to its events, and to form strong feelings for the characters in the story. This is getting darker after every step its like walking through a haunted house with untrustworthy people who representing themselves as cleaner than a Preachers sheets or a member of the Emperors Custodes! This is the story line that hooked me on the Warhammer 40K series, Kronan sparked the interest but this series got me! Although I believe that your Abundance Tertius story line would have also. As soon as it reached that point of the story and you said that name I thought Mordred of Arthurian legend, Camelot..which would make King Arthur the Emperor..and he had this sidekick called Malc I mean Merlin. This to my mind would make Tarquinus the holiest of Knights, Sir Galahad. And I'd bet my house on it that Sir Baldemort is aware...Tolkien did much the same :)
