I'm from the visayas (iloilo) and we do eat our sticky rice (ibos) with ripe mangoes or sugar if it's not mango season. Also sometimes if tablea is available we dip it in native sweet hot cocoa. Update as of Dec2019. I already tasted Thailand's mangoes and sticky rice with the sauce made from coconut milk. It tastes really good. It has a hint of salt mixed with the sweet. I love it.

@symbian74
@symbian74 5 жыл бұрын
Analogy is wrong as lumpiang shanghai wasn't a result of bringing foreign dishes back, it's a result of visiting foreigners bringing their dishes to the country. The more accurate analofy is it's like your cousin was raised by adoptive Spanish parents, and growing up had a lot of Chinese visitors, then his parents left him and for a short while he had American and Japanese babysitters before living on his own. :)

Both the Philippines and Thailand have versions of the food in this video. Thai spring rolls and Philippine mango sticky rice with chocolate. C'mon research people. Why buzzfeed? Both are southeast asian countries which share a lot of things in common. Another fact, Tagalog is one of the languages used in the Philippines and generally the basis for Filipino, one of the official languages of the country. English is the other official language. Other unofficial languages include Ilocano for Northern Luzon people; Bisaya (Cebuano is a dialect since it is a version of Bisaya/Visayan language spoken by people in Cebu. The visayan spoken by people in other islands is slightly different.) for Visayan people and a number of other languages like Pangasinense for province of Pangasinan, Tausug for Southern Mindanao people, and etc.

I remember this one time, it was my cousin's birthday and his mom, my aunt, prepared so many lumpia, i think it was about 4 to 5 big serving plates full of Lumpia, idk why she did that but she did, and lo and behold, it was still the food that got finished first among all the other foods. lmao

When hung VERTICALLY, the equilateral triangle on top, the blue field should be to the left, and the red field to the right of the viewer facing the flag (Remember R-R Red on the right). 👍

Thai here but have to give it to Philippines. Lumpia looks so yummy, I like mango and sticky rice but can’t have it often cause it’s sweet. A savory and crispy snack with sweet chili sauce would be a great comfort food.

I also have doubts for first time eaters, eating mango and sticky rice (in coconut milk?) the stomach might not like it and off you go to the toilet. It's risky unless you have strong and healthy digestive capabilities.
