Star Trek is an expansive franchise crammed full of stories and lore. Today, we'll be looking at that lore; more specifically the fact that some of it exists purely because of a glorious beard.

I somehow love the fact that they felt they needed to explain one character growing a beard yet absolutely nobody on-screen talks about the million times Starfleet completely changes its uniforms for seemingly no reason. Maybe they should do a Star Trek show about the branding consultants that Starfleet employs who feel like they have to keep changing things to justify their continued employment.
@GrimSwag
@GrimSwag 4 жыл бұрын
Governments change their military uniforms all the time, wouldn’t be surprised if the only reason uniforms are changed in the series is bureaucracy and admirals not liking current uniforms and changing them
@Mega-Brick
@Mega-Brick 4 жыл бұрын
One of the few things Discovery got right was when someone commented on Pike's uniform.
@cernanwinterfox85
@cernanwinterfox85 3 жыл бұрын
Its possible the changes arent that frequent but actually due to the federations size. Frome one side to the other of federation space is something like a year at max warp and 5ish at cruising speeds. So the uniform changes probably ripple through the federation leaving lots of ships that only get new uniforms when they pull into dock, which in turn only know about the new uniforms they got. Basically you end up with a ship that goes through multiple uniform changes in a couple of years, but they changes might represent decades of changes. No accounting for when they somehow magically go back to earth for a day, and all the uniforms match.

@Nastrael Rowe That's not an injury but a birth defect. During birth, Sheen's left arm was crushed by forceps, leaving it three inches (7.6 cm) shorter than his right arm and partially paralyzing it, a condition known as Erb's palsy.

I don't know why so many people complain about the princess leia being at the end of Rogue One thing. It's always been obvious that she's bullshitting Vader about the whole diplomatic mission thing seeing as how she gave R2 the planes right before talking to him, and admitting that you stole secret superwepon blueprints to a six foot tall murderous magical space samurai isn't something you'd do unless you wanted a slow painful death.

Add to that she was a politician, and what do politicians do when accused of a crime? It also explains why Vader suddenly went from mocking to furious, because he saw her escape with the plans and she was just flat out denying it happened.

I just wanted to point out what seems obvious. Riker's beard is hardly the only change from Season 1 to Season 2. Season 2 was the season with Dr. Pulaski instead of Dr. Crusher. As an aside, I used to downplay that season because of that change, but it's not warranted. Diana Muldaur was every bit as good in her one season as Gates McFadden had been in her first season, and her character had some good stories too.

A New Hope does not take place ten minutes after Rogue One. Ships in hyperspace cannot be tracked, and Corellian Corvettes were plentiful. Vader has to return to his ship, make a calculated guess on the general direction of Leia’s ship, then start hunting down vessels matching the description of the one fleeing Scarif in the area of space they expected to find that ship. Leia’s original destination upon leaving Scarif was Alderaan. That changed, likely when the Empire got a clue as to their whereabouts, and they altered course to Tatooine to try to find Obi Wan Kenobi. It likely took Vader a few days to find the Tantive IV, not ten minutes.

Exactly. Plus, you don't flee in the direction you mean to go; you go in a random direction, stop, jump again, stop, jump again, and so on. It was far from clear that he was on the right ship. If you recall, his lieutenant didn't seem to think they had enough on her, but Vader insisted she had the plans. He knew in the same way he knew the Hoth base was theirs. You'll remember Admiral Ozzel scoffed at him for that.

@VonSnootingham 5 жыл бұрын
The exact amount of time is beside the point, though. Be it 10 minutes or 5 days in between, the point is that Vader saw with his own eyes the rebels steal the plans and put them on that ship, and when he found and stopped that ship, Leia goes "Duhhh what plans?"
@Sindraug25
@Sindraug25 5 жыл бұрын
@@VonSnootingham It's not a one-of-a-kind ship though; it's a Corellian Corvette, which is a very common ship. It would be like a cop arresting someone in Maine because they were driving the same kind of car as someone who committed a crime in Kentucky.

@@VonSnootingham Are we fucking forgetting the part where Leia is actually an active member of the Rebellion, and that, afaik Vader doesn't have any sorry if lie detecting force ability. Fucking morons, honestly. If you are actually a simple crew making a diplomatic mission, why the fuck would you flee the empire and open fire on imperial troops. Of course they must have had an important reason, or even had the plans themselves.

Maiq The Liar the book I’m writing is similar to the Percy Jackson books. It takes the Greek Mythology and puts it in the real world. The difference between the Percy Jackson books and mine is that not only are the Greek Myths real but so are the Norse ones. The premise of the book is the Greek Gods are at war with the Norse ones.

Can I just say that the exhaust port on the Death Star would be a terrible thing to have done on purpose. It's a single exhaust port (kind of need one of those) that's in a highly protected area and was extremely hard to effectively shoot down. It took the most powerful force user ever doing a suicide run led by the force and having perfectly aimed, 90° turning projectiles to exploit it. You can't create something that big without some weak spots. We can't do it with our military vehicle after all

Riker adjusts his top quite a bit as well. It’s especially present when he’s about to put in some work - like he’s rolling up his sleeves to get to it. Rodenberry was a Navy Man and applied much of the command structure of Star Fleet on it. There are tons of references to being on the open sea all throughout Trek.
