Who wouldn't love a little boat like that? Very small, doesn't require huge amounts of cash to operate, needs very little maintenance and so simple to work on. This is great for hours of fun on a salt river or freshwater lake or pond. You could operate that 30 HP outboard all day for very little money and can pull it on the road with literally ANYTHING! What's not to like?

I had the same boat which was most likely from the same mold with full windshield, built by Princecraft in Canada.It had a 1972 Johnson 25hp and I grew up learning to waterski behind it. I also learned a lot about propellers and various pitch and blade configurations. It ran very well and planed out around 25 mph. top speed was around 32mph. Mine was a beige colour with brown seats

Fantastic little boat - a buddy of mine had one very similar to it when we were teens. I think his was only 18 hp but it still seem to go really well. I know it’s a long time after you posted and you probably discovered if there are any issues with that modified transom, but have a real good look at what the previous owner did, make sure that was mounted properly.

Sweet boat! It looks like the 10' GW Invader my brother owned many years ago. His had a Mariner 60HP outboard and it motored along rather smartly. He had no problem pulling a water skier. No idea how fast it went, the only instrumentation he had was a tachometer and volt meter. Would love to find one of those to flog around.

@@cooler066 Not Necessarily... "Hull speed" is generally connoted with displacement hulls where a general rule of thumb is 1.34*sqrt water line. This is because of complicated fluid dynamics but essentially displacement hulls have to combat 2 major resistances in wave making resistance and the whetted surface resistance. High speed power boats and even high performance sail boats reduce or eliminate wave making resistance by utilizing planing hulls where the boat is not actually displacing the water but gliding over it. In the extreme cases wave making resistance and whetted surface is near eliminated with the invention of hydrofoils however they face other speed limiting phenomena. Obviously there's still many other factors to a boats top speed but the comments here were essentially saying a more efficient use of the propulsion would probably result in greater speed. Check with Yamaha or a prop expert. There's a good chance that outboard wasn't designed to be on such a light boat. So with a prop designed for the light weight, it might go even faster if you want.

Guy was sitting in his truck was waiting like 15 minutes for someone to finishing launching their boat. Guy that was launching was really frustrated. So the guy waiting in his truck popped off and called the other guy an amateur after he was finished. Next thing you know the guy sitting in his truck gets cold-cocked like 3-4 times up side the head and face. The guy that got socked up took it like a man and didn't even call the cops. Never forgot that one. Watch out for nutty's at the boat launch/ramp. Lol

Looks like there's a good bit of adjustment that can be done to the trim of the engine. With just the driver in it you should easily get at least 35-40mph

That boat is a GW Invader, I owned one several years ago it was a real hoot with an old 55 Hp Merc behind it. Be careful with the high speed turns, no keel, flat bottom, it can kind of get away from you. I did one really scary unintentional 180 once.

I'm really impressed by how you work with those carbs so effortlessly, obviously evidence of lots of experience. The last time i tried working on a carb it was on a 1980 MGB. Tried rebuilding it myself, only to end up with little parts and screws leftover at the end that i had no idea where they belonged. Needless to say, my MG didn't run any better....well, not at all actually. I now own an older Evinrude outboard and am trying to get smart on this engine. Your videos help a lot.

Two stroke carbs are about as basic as you can get. There is an emulsifier tube and a main jet. The only tricky bit might be replacing the float spring. The pin that holds it is ridiculously tiny. Take lots of pictures during disassembly to refer back to and get a shop manual for your exact model engine. Be methodical and patient. Two strokes are finicky engines that need constant love and affection! 😝 I personally own a pair of ‘93 Yamaha 6 cylinder 200’s and a ‘95 Evinrude 48SPL. All three puke blue smoke and kick around like a mad horse, but they’re a blast to run, and man do they run. I’ve owned them since they were brand new. It would take a crazy offer to get me to part with any of them.

I had a 10 foot Veck speed boat with a 33 hp Johnson with Dolefins on it. It had the center front sear and steering wheel, and had a rear seat that was a 4 foot wife 2x6 with a cushion on it. We had a speed prop on it and had more fun with that that little boat than any boat I've ever owned.

@@pyroboobysmith359 Running a 60 on that tiny thing had to be hair raising! I’d like to find a hull like that for my ‘95 Evinrude 48 SPL. That motor has outlived three hulls already. 😂

@@johnhiggs325, these hulls are a little on the heavy side, so 60 was just right for jumping out of the hole and getting on plane quick, then very stable and predictable at speed.

There's no such thing as luck. Everything has a cause. Also how God's existence is proven.They've taken the proofs for the existence of God out of modern DEeducation but the proofs for the existence of God are a staple in any undergraduate philosophy tract. They're called St Thomas's 5 proofs. You can't get to Catholicism via logic alone but the sheer existence of God and that He must, for example, be One, IS proven. Here's one. You see that things have a cause. If you don't assent to this you're simply a liar. IF you don't have a First Cause of all Himself Uncaused you have an infinite regress of causes of effects and never getting to the First Cause you never get in reverse logic to what you see today by neccessary result of this infinite regress. The infinity (i.e. NEVER ending of causes creates an insurmountable gap because if its inherent infinity insurmountable gap because if its inherent infinity insurmountable to suffice for the existence of anything you see that exists and has a cause of its existence. There MUST therefore by neccesity exist a FIRST Cause that is Himself Uncaused Who is God. You're welcome

Neat! Used to water ski behind a 13.5 ft Boston Whaler with a 40 hp engine. It used to top out at about 30mph. Your boat has less hp, but better aqua dynamics, so the top speed is probably about the same as the Whaler.

Brian Burress sounds like big inboard problems my parents have had a Chapparral 162XL with a Johnson VRO 90 for like 20 year which gets stored outside in like 3 feet of snow in the winter. That boat which they bought for like $5000 in 2004 has probably only had like $1500 in maintenance in the last 15 years.

@OIF/OEF-0341 It's a GW Invader. There is no way his buddy ever had a 100hp on one. I know from experience as I've owned 3 of them. I had a 70hp inline 6 tower of power on one of them and had to put it on a 40hp lower unit to reduce weight. They are not particularly fast boats for the size and have flat bottoms so they don't turn well....they slide. Fun, though.

I use to work at a marina on a state park lake in the 80’s and we rented them out. They will fly, even with a little 10hp outboard. They were super fun.
