I have to thank you. I bought a $19 dollar pair of boots. ( All I could afford.) Just wanted to get through 6 months of winter, here. Of course, one fell apart. Using what I have learned from you, I pulled it apart and repaired the thing in a better way than it started. Thank you. On limited means and you meant the difference between my otherwise wasted money. I know this is a different kind of comment, but it saved my feet and money. I am very grateful for your help. One day, I will have R.M.Williams and a pair of Nick's boots. In my dreams. On welfare, but hope gives us drive.

I watched the entire October series and greatly appreciate all of the information. I decided for my needs the Rock Rooster was a good choice. My budget is limited so spending decisions are sometimes difficult. I just got the boots and out of the box they are the most comfortable boots that I have ever owned. I know going in that they will not stand up to hard wear, but at 60+ years old neither will I. They look nice, fit well and feel good. I have wide feet and have trouble sometimes finding shoes that do not hurt during the break in period, these were a joy to wear out of the box. I have 2 pair of safety toe work boots for rough duty so I bought these for style and comfort. In my opinion these are "budget" boots but not "cheap" boots. I conditioned them right away and will continue to do so regularly as 45 years of experience wearing work boots has shown me that taking good care of your boots can really extend their usefulness as well as cut down on damage to your feet. Thank you for helping me get the information to make an informed decision on choosing a boot that fills my requirements. They, of course, will not be the best choice for everyone but neither will ANY other boot. Thank you again for providing informative content with as close to a neutral bias as I have seen.

I bought a pair of this model for my very first moc-toe boot for $25 on eBay. Used acetone to strip the paint off and dyed it mahogany while replacing the laces with leather ones from Nick's. Pulled the insole out to use in my crappy Brahma's and used a leather insole from Nick's with a 3.5mm piece of cork stuck to the bottom making for an excellent boot wearing experience. Thank you for sharing your excellent review of this boot.

smart. Especially the leather/ cork insole... I do that with all of my boots and shoes if they don't have one already. This enables me to wear them in Florida without my feet being soaked
@AudioFileZ Жыл бұрын
One of the early things I noticed about Chinese made welted boots with mid-soles is the mid-soles were almost beyond glue bonded to the soles. Whatever glues they were using were more like model airplane glue which "melted" into the plastic based PU outsoles. This usually means you can't heat up the soles with an infra-red lamp and get a good peel-away from the midsoles. You either have to grind down the outsoles or cut them off leaving a little buffer layer so as not to cut into the mid-sole which easily with a sharp knife can accidentally cut through the mid into the actual welt (a big no, no). Up until these fusing glues (you have to let them melt and bite then firm up again often requiring a re-activation with a heat gun) we often just heated up soles with a heat lamp and then peeled them off. I will say these Chinese fused soles and mid-soles mostly eliminated sole/mid-sole delamination actually making the boots really strong if more difficult to re-sole. By your video here I think this boot will be a pretty tough customer. On rare occasion I have seen that final TPU out-sole layer separate from the main body of the PU sole...but, that is rare these days. If a guy wanted to save some bucks, yet get a respectable tough boot this one seems to be, by your tear-apart, a good choice. I did notice the shape of the left and right moc-toes were not truly symmetrical (your above photo shows this). At these price points this kind of thing often passes QC as it's considered minor and cosmetic and not affecting the functionality of the boot.

Great to see a more affordable boot featured, they look like a fairy well made option. Would be interesting to get feedback from those who have worn them and the durability of the outsole and overall construction/feel. After being there almost 2 hours I bought the Danners and have loved the feel and the look of them. It’s been a week and they are extremely comfortable and look great. This review was not quite as good as your usual, or maybe just a few missed opportunities. 1. I would have like to hear more about the leather. It looks tumbled, corrected grain and stamped (but not plastic coated) and quite hairy on the reverse side - you should talk about the quality indicators and trade offs here both in comparison to more rugged leather and a more extreme correction (ie stan smiths) 2. You make a lot of comparisons to Nicks and Whites which are good high-end examples but this is going up against Red Wing and Thorogood for the weekend warrior/ casual work boot crowd so would be good to see what the compromises are there/ whether it is worth going slightly higher in price for Thorogood. 3. A bit of history on these more iconic heritage styles like Moc Toes and what the Moc toe construction means would have been cool.

Definitely a Wedge or Swedge sole like the one here. The softer the better. If you are standing a lot go with the 8 inch for greater ankle and leg support. If you are walking a lot go with a shorter boot (lighter and more ankle movement). If you watch the channel up to this date... Thorogoods, Carolina, Redwings, Whites, Nicks are his favorites. Other brands you don't hear as much of is Danner and WESCO on the channel. I do not feel a warm and fuzzy on the last two brands.

If you ever get a chance I'd love to see a tear down of Meindl Dover or Island boots. Any kind of high quality mountain boots actually! I love the meindls I have but I'm itching to see what they look like inside.

Probably not as popular in the USA, but Panama Jack are in theory, good quality, made in Spain boots. Really comfy. I'd be great to see them cut in half, and see if they're worth the money (usually around 150€ to 200€). Not much info on them on the Internet sadly, other than their website and store that sell them.

You did not mention *SIZE, WIDTH and FIT*. Did you order your normal size, or larger or smaller? How did they FIT? I've seen a few complaints about being too BIG, others said they were too WIDE. Your input on that would be appreciated. I want to order a pair but not sure about what size to order. -- Thanks. -- (I enjoy your videos, good job!) :)
