If you're after performance and an engine with a bit of soul then there is only one choice the 3.0L. The 2.0L on the other hand appears to have an identity crisis, is it a cruiser, a poser or a sports coupe? To some extent it performs all roles well however being a jack of all trades it does nothing outstanding. It has a droney sound unless revved out, if you closed your eyes on kick down you could imagine it's some family 4 cylinder shitbox; overall not particularly sporty although the numbers are not to be sneered at. Here's the range of Supras I believe Toyota should make: 2.0L auto with a cruiser/poser focus, 2.0L manual with a sports focus, 3.0L auto the same focus as 2021 model, 3.0L auto with 500+ Hp hero sports coupe

Just got my 2021 3.0, I’ve owned dozens of sports cars, this is by far the most well rounded vehicle I’ve ever owned, period. And it’s putting down 388 to the pavement stock not 382 at the crank.

As the owner of the 1985 Toyota Supra for 23 years I can say it has been the best GT car out there with the unparalleled reliability. I’d buy the new Supra in a heartbeat regardless of people’s badmouthing.

Unfortunately, Toyota did a bad job marketing the car. Yes, it may be BMW but with Toyota speced engine which makes it incredible reliability. Closed decked design, oil squirters on the piston, reinforced everything, and made to handle twice the advertised horsepower easily. This is why the B58 will down as their greatest engine BMW has ever created. I would never purchase a BMW due to their reliability. This is the exception.

If I got a Supra, 4 or 6 cylinder, I’d get it very lightly optioned. I don’t ever see myself needing adaptive cruise control in a Supra. I’ll save that for the crossover I drive every day. My ideal Supra would be a base 6-cylinder for just under 50k

The changes are subtle. The hp bump is probably due to emissions. Toyota wanted to make sure they could release the supra to the world. Europe has banned the b58 382hp version both in the z4 and supra. They still get the 335hp from the 2020 model.

The 2 liter in the Supra 2.0 is the BMW B48. As with all turbocharged BMW engines from the past decade, the advertised horsepower and torque are approximately what it makes at the wheels. True crank horsepower is 290ish. The 2021 Supra 3.0 makes well over 400 horsepower at the crank, 380ish at the rear wheels.

All the fanboys that trash the A90 Supra are most likely under 21 and drive their parents 10 year old Honda CRV. The Supra is a brilliant sports car! It’s already fast stock, easily tuneable, balanced, looks great and sounds great. Yes, Toyota should offer it in a manual but that may still happen in the coming years. The A90 was already a win for Toyota and now with the 2021 engine upgrades it’s an even bigger W. I 100% will be cross shopping the 2021 3.0 Supra with a M2 Comp and a used 981 Cayman S!

Car and Driver dyno'd both. The increase was commensurate with the new rating. Of course, both outperformed their "crank" rating and the wheels.

The former. If you were to include the drivetrain losses of around 10% in the 2020 Supra after putting it on the dyno, you would have approximately 385-410 horsepower at the crank with the wheel numbers ranging from 340-382 horsepower depending on the source you look at. As for the 2021 Supra, Car and Driver released a video today of them putting the Supra on the dyno, and it made ~390 horsepower to the wheels. However, Car and Driver indirectly admitted there is some room for improvement especially with how they ran through the power and torque band when it was going through dyno testing, so I'd imagine it'd be considerably higher than 390. If you were to include the drivetrain loss of ~10% in the 2021 Supra after putting it on the dyno, you would have approximately 430-450 horsepower to the crankshaft. To put all of these numbers into context, there has been constant findings that Z4 makes 420-440 at the wheels, which shows that there's a difference with the Supra's numbers and in my opinion, this makes the Supra's numbers more impressive especially given the fact that the Supra has a lower compression ratio than the Z4, but on the other hand, the Supra is actually fitted with more boost from the turbocharger than the Z4, so the Supra has way more high end power past 5-6k RPM. All in all, Toyota did not just change the power number to it's correct rating, that's just a false narrative that Supra haters want to keep spreading because they're sad excuses of human beings. In fact, these findings PROVE that Toyota actually did their own development work on the engine and it's not just a copy of the Z4. It never was.

Redline Reviews The MKIV Supra still sells for $50,000+. Many people are buying the Dodge Demon and that is over $100k. The Supra is a car many many people love and want. Toyota simply did not listen to what people wanted and missed the opportunity. If they built it themselves and priced it at $100k people would buy it because it is a Supra. Perfect example is the GTR. Even the overpriced Civic CTR sold well over sticker price.

M340i the 4 Door Supra. Much more usable and fun to daily drive while you can still enjoy some track time. Change the RFT to Non RFT Michellin PS 4S and you can have a blast.

My son bought the 2020 supra and I've talked to the sales man who sold the supra to him, said the horsepower between the 2020 to 2021 wont change. On paper, the salesman was confused as well why Toyota spec it 335 hp 365. And when in fact people dynoed the car on stock tune, it made more horsepower and torqe than what toyota is claiming. This is what the salesman told me least. The 2021 probably makes the same just tuned a little, updated various parts, and on paper looks right. 😎👍

Interesting that the prices for the new supras havent been revealed in USA... They have in Norway, 4cyl for 650 000NOK, 4cyl "sport" which has the adaptive suspension, sport differential, toyota supra connect ETC... is 700 000NOK and the 6 cyl is 899 000NOK. In USD that then is 65 000USD, 70 000USD and 90 000USD, thats 25% tax incl and with EUs absolutely ridiculous emission tax (but TBF, Norway to have higher average wage than USA)... But considering the fully loaded 6cyl here costs 90 000USD, and in USA the same version costs 53 000USD, its around 1.7 times as expensive, if the 4 cyl is about 1.7 times as expensive aswell, then the 2021 4cyl Supra will cost around 38 000USD, so my guess is that its gonna cost 36 000-38 000USD for you.

13:24. Yesterday I was driving my 4Runner uphill, yeah it's slow as hell. STILL I was stuck behind some lady in an Outback, going like 25 in a 40. When I got close I saw.......it was a 3.6R!!! The way she was driving it could have been a 1.0 liter 2 cylinder. I just traded a vanilla WRX for this 4Runner, I still can't stand slow drivers lol. (will get a sports car in the future, the rex was getting to a point where depreciation was going to ramp up fast and needed a ton of stuff, so I offloaded it for a practical car for now.....keeping an eye on the Supra and STI, possibly 400z for future purchase as a 2nd car)
