This is similar to a keto diet but with some healthy carbs and veggies. You won’t lose any muscle mass because you do need to exercise some. Fat weighs some so naturally if you lose fat you lose weight. Muscle weighs more than fat but you won’t lose muscle if you are exercising. The weight coming off will be fat and your body will start turning that into muscle soon. I’ve lost 25 pounds over one night but it was in water gain. When my body got into ketosis it dumped all that water gain in a night. I got up and went to pee about every 30 minutes that night and didn’t sleep. That was on the Atkinson diet. We found it worked better when we took Dr Atkinson combination of vitamins. Just cutting out starchy carbs and sugars is the best start.

@@DavidBridge-u8d "you won’t lose muscle if you are exercising" --> that's not entirely true; you can exercise all you want, if you don't take in enough proteins and carbs, you *will* lose musscle tissue "will be fat and your body will start turning that into muscle soon" --> also not true, fat is not turned into muscle tissue in any way "I’ve lost 25 pounds over one night" --> you probably mean 2.5 pounds? That's about a kilo, which is a lot but not uncommon in certain situations. If you really lost over 11 kilos in one night, I advise you to go to an emergency unit immediately, that's absolutely abnormal. "When my body got into ketosis it dumped all that water gain in a night." --> again, if you really mean 11 kilos (that's 11 litres of water) you have a serious and probably life threatening kidney problem, go see a doctor. Kidneys simply cannot process that much fluid in one night, even perfectly healthy kidneys (I lost one so I'm very well informed on how kidneys function).

This works for women, as well. I’ve been animal based for 52 years. I’ve had the CAC screening and the Echo screening and my arteries are clear. Very healthy way to eat. Doing the 16+ hour fasting is your best friend. Cleanses the kidneys, gives your liver a break, and you will feel terrific. Dairy slows the process down. Alcohol slows the process down. The goal is to get fat adapted. Lion diet (meat salt & water) is the extreme elimination diet, good for curing autoimmune disorders.

I never used any of these oils in my entire life. I’m not eating any of unhealthy foods, not smoking, not drinking, regularly exercising, eating two meals per day and still the weight I’ve gained during the perimenopause period is not going down. Never had any weight issues in my life before. There are other reasons why people can’t lose weight and I truly wish this will be more acknowledged than just throwing out generalized information.

Perimenopause is no joke. I'm finding that I have to switch up my fasting frame, and sometimes eat a little as well as less. I have always had a hard time losing weight, took me a year to lose 25 pounds, with walking 3 to 5 miles daily, exercise writing every morsel of food down... Then I know people who change their eating and lose crazy easily. Recently I went to the doctors for a return visit 2 weeks later and had gained 3 pounds... With me intentionally trying to boost my exercise and really limit food options. Don't give up, perhaps look at Mindy Pelz as suggested in a comment, she has a great youtube channel. I think his information is great and good advice for people.

Mindy Pelz and Ben's info is similar. They've done episodes together. This information is evidence based. Mindy addresses Peri and post menopause but the info is similar. I haven't been at it long but daily BG and ketone testing is a game changer. It shows me how all this works for me and when I do something right or wrong, the numbers tell me the next day. Consider a CGM. You will see in real time what works and what doesn't.

If you just eliminate all flour/rice/corn/grain carbs and fruit juices/sugar/corn syrup/fructose etc and eat 2-3 medium size meals within an 8 hour window (16 hours eating nothing) you will slowly lose fat. If you add some aerobics for 30-45 minutes each day you'll lose the fat much faster. I dropped 25 lbs in a month doing this and it was fairly easy, but keeping away from foods made with flour is hard over the long term.

This sounds like a good plan. One thing you need to add to your protocol is 1 tsp of psyllium husk (Metamucil or Equate brand) in a glass of tomato juice or water once or twice per day - without fail - to keep your digestive system running smoothly. This is not really a laxative and will prevent diarrhea/constipation. Also, you said that in Week 4, on the days that you have 3 meals you should have 100-150 g of carbs and proteins, even telling people they can add rice to their diet. But at Minute 26 you said that on those 3-meal days you should consume less than 50 grams of carbs. ALSO, you should tell people how important it is to stay hydrated during these times! They should have at least 1 ounce of fluid for every kg of body weight.

I’ve done most of these before and of course fallen off without accountability and gratitude, but this laid out detail is refreshing! I can’t wait to start! But first I must watch a few more times. So much great info. Thank you! I had to comment as a way of commitment. I will start in about a week. I need to write things down, psyche myself up, purchase food and plan. I am worth this! I’ve lost 25 lbs this last year of the 100 I need to lose but have been stuck here for about 9 months now. Time to move on to better health! I need to be here longer for myself and my daughter. ❤️🥰🙏🏻

I figure it will slow down. Today and this week I will be on a 6 hour eating window. Thank you for the great video!! I’ve done intermittent fasting in the past and high protein diets, but this video put it all together for me and made it very easy!!

Bro, you rock. Your podcast has helped me a ton. Thank you. I saw you speak at John L's clinic last year in Sarasota. I would like to kindly say using the AI to remove the space between your sentences (and every video/podcast that does that) raises cortisol to the listener. It's a distraction to an otherwise incredibly awesome podcast. This is a trend in our online (certainly not just you) world that I don't think is congruent with health and wellness.
@KetoKamp

Thank you!! So grateful you were at Dr John's event, and have been listening to the podcast. My video editor removes dead space in between sentences to make the video or audio as short as possible since many people are busy and have a shorter attention span these days. You can always slow down my rate of speech in the settings of each video, if you click the gear icon, and then speed, you can adjust it there!

Hi Ben. Thank you for this excellent video. You present both very clear and defined protocols as well as flexibility, plus a lot of suggestions rather than “must do’s”. That opens the diet to many more people who cannot necessarily follow every step due to budget, work schedules and so on. I’ve always been keto conscious but have put on some weight after a back surgery last year and can’t get my gym time in to any great degree, so I’ve had to really cut back. I’d be very interested in your future videos where you might perhaps reports from several groups on weight loss - A) Control group. B). Group that follows your plan as exactly as possible. C) Group that adapts your plan but with fewer bells and whistles. A the end, it would be interesting to compare the A1C, weight loss and any other metrics that might be of interest to you and your viewers. Thanks again!

OMAD works for me. Lost 100#. Have kept it off 7 years now. It's a mind set. Eat proteins, limit carbs and processed foods, and keep moving. I'm 65, had a knee, hip, and shoulder replaced, play golf, bowl, and camp. Don't smoke, drink, A1C is 5.4. Still overweight but healthy. Still trying to get more weight off but it's tough when you are older. Just have to cut back. Refined carbs are a killer. If it's processed it's poison. Meats, non starchy veggies, no sweets, no breads. It's not easy at first but you have to train your body. It's a mind set. Jason Fung, Dr. Ken Berry, Dr. Sten Ekberg, they are great. Great video. Thanks.

Sorry to tell you but at around 6% body fat, your muscles will be highly visible, and you will have a very defined, “ripped” appearance. This low level of body fat means that there is minimal fat covering your muscles, making them stand out prominently. However, this also means that your skin may not have a smooth look, as the lack of fat can make veins and muscle striations more pronounced.
