As a farmer who grows grain wheat barley etc you guys need to know many many of us do not use gmo or any interfered with seed. We simply self seed our own crops over and over . I think you'd find if you ground your own wheat and made your own. We don't use chemicals on crops either. We spray before the seeds are even planted not when they're grown or growing. We keep the stubble of crops in the ground so the rain catches and keeps moist which in turn helps earthworms and all,manner of insect vital insect life. Please don't categorise all farmers in one box it's not fair. Food leaves our farms clean and it's the processing and additives that are causing cancers etc.

Yes! I hate how the processed fake bread and grain foods are bundled with real grain bread!!! I buy my own organic wheat berries and mill my own flour fresh and bake fresh! I pdnt get bloated! And it's actually filling! Plus delicious! And there's like 5 ingredients in my bread including water... only drawback is if I want bread I have to make time to bake! Same goes with any cookies, snacks, sourdough. Also, the studies are always around wheat that is no bueno! Real is better!

Yes I grew up farming and we grew naturally, so zero issues and we kept a huge compost pile so when we canned all summer we could add the scraps to break down and in spring it was a fantastic source of fertilizer.

I’ve stopped eating wheat bread and never eat red licorice nor microwave popcorn, or any popcorn. I live in Portugal and I adore fish but I eat mainly small oily fish like sardines and mackerel, both fresh and tinned in virgin olive oil. I haven’t had diet soda of any kind in years and I do drink organic kombucha zero, zero for no sugar. I limit fruit to organic blueberries, raspberries and strawberries but only in season, and in the summer water melon and white and green melons, which are typical of Portugal.

I avoided grains for years, lately I’ve started making my own bread with organic spelt berries. I activate the grain to the point of just sprouting, then turn the softened grains into a wet dough in my vitamix. I add egg, magnesium, selenium, salt, vinegar, yeast some water or milk. After rising it goes Into my air-fryer in two small pans. Sometimes I make biscotti with the mix, always aiming to up the protein level. Some pumpkin seeds, walnuts, coconut, butter…the recipe is open ended.

I don’t eat anything that contains sugar, glucose. No foods out of boxes. Only freshly cooked by self. No commercials food whatsoever. At the restaurant I only order chicken fillet with olive oil or steak. I learnt so much to be able to make healthy food choices and still being able to be in a social environment. Choosing healthy fruits and veggies is easier if you know the PLU Codes.... If the fruit/veggie sticker number starts with an 8, it's GMO. The code that starts with a 4, and is 4 numbers in length means "Conventionally grown", and a five-digit number that starts with a 9, is Organically grown.

If you eat coconut oil, when the container is empty, fill it half full with pop corn kernels. Shake vigorously. Then when you want microwave popcorn, put a half of a cup of kernels into a brown bag, like the ones we use for children's lunches. Roll the end shut - an inch or two of rolling is plenty, then put the bag into the microwave, cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until the popping has stopped, then salt with Redman's salt and enjoy. I like mine with sparkling water. Don't worry about a tight seal on the bag as you wish to allow steam to escape.

I had chronic fatigue and pain for years. I was constantly being told that it's my fault because I don't manage my stress properly (which isn't true but hearing that for the umpteenth would, in fact, make me stressed). Finally a holistic doctor ran an allergy panel on me and it turned out I'm allergic to wheat, which reminded me that my brother was so strongly allergic to wheat as a baby that he was initially diagnosed with coeliac's, but eventually outgrew it so it must have been just an allergy. My allergy isn't strong but it's strong enough to have completely messed up my gut microbiome with years of constant inflammation. I removed wheat from my diet just over a week ago and started a probiotic regime and let me tell you, it's life-changing. I know it'll take weeks for everything to settle down but already I feel so much better!

The chronic conditions will hopefully improve overtime as you start to heal your body. Good on you! I've had chronic bloating for many years. I developed IBS in my late teens and suffered with it ever since. It was emotionally influenced, so as my home life and mental health improved, I am much better now that I'm in my 30s. It seems I have left over inflammation. I have Apple cider vinegar every morning in water and now take organic tumeric tablets (plus fasting!). I've noticed a difference already! Hping it keeps on getting better!

Or PREbiotics? I have ACV every day too esp. after I eat, I seem to need more acidity in my stomach to break food down. I tried 'sneaking some Ritz crackers last week hoping it wasn't gIuten and boy am I paying. It set me way back again. I just can't believe this happened when it was never a problem before.😭

I gave up gluten in 2012- I realized years of health issues had been from a severe gluten sensitivity. My health and mood have improved tremendously. Small sardines and mackerel are the least polluted fish and very healthy. Great video, I agree with you, however concerning Kombucha ,depends on...the one I buy has only 2 % sugar in it,seems ok. But my favourite drink is carbonates water with lemon. Keep healthy !

Making your own kombucha is super easy and you get to control the sugar content. The longer you let it ferment the less sugar because the good bacteria and yeast eats it up. I don’t agree with stopping kombucha. It has great probiotic benefits especially for those that has a yogurt intolerance because of milk.

I believe that the wheat of today is completely different from the wheat of a few hundred years ago. I cut out bread, pasta, rice, noodles and potatoes, reaulting in me loaing 103 pounds of body weight in 10 months. I replaced the aforementioned items with my own keto flatbread, homemade from almond and coconut flour.

But if my wheat flour was 10 days old and was low carb, I'd be happy to use that for cooking. Therefore I only use coconut flour because it is much lower in carbs and almond flour because it is lower still.

I really thought potatoes and peanut butter would be on your no eating list. I no longer eat foods that for me are inflammatory: corn, peanut butter, gluten (of course), most fruit, a little if in season organic only, alcohol, cereal. It's really sad how tarnished our food supply has become and how vigilant we have become on choosing what we feel is safe and nutritious to eat.

Very informative video!! I realised I have given up all but one of the mentioned foods as you described. I have reduced my intake of bread , but still eat my own sourdough (rye) bread made of organic flour and often stone milled . The wheat I use is as much as possible ancient varieties. This is my choice and my own bread will continue to be a part of my healthy lifestyle - even though I know many of you have other thoughts 😊

While I don't eat most of Mindy's 7 and haven't for a long time, I think an important caveat to the fish and fruit no-nos is where they are from. In places like Europe, Australia, Japan, etc. have a) much stricter regulations around food production (and a lack of food lobbyists ;); and b) seasonal production only. There are more safeguards in place to ensure whole foods are healthy and accessible.

I would not eat the fish in Japan since the Fukushima nuclear accident. Even in Hawaii the radiation levels have gone up in fish since then. Once in a while would probably not be of concern, but a lot of people in those areas eat it almost every single day.

I'm with you on the 7. Wheat is the hardest to give up for me-bread is my absolute favorite thing on the planet, with fish being next-i love sushi as well as tuna sandwiches! Physically I can handle bread once a month, but emotionally I am so addicted to it it's easier to just avoid. I do eat bread on my birthday and when I can. My body definitely does not like the movie food/drink or kombucha. I used to get red vines and coke, and of course drink the coke through a licorice stick-oh my! Never diet, thank my luck, it always tasted bad. Homemade kefir and sauerkraut was a game changer for me. I have had the most benefit from learning how I feel when I consume something and learning my own diet will be different from others. Thank you, Dr. Mindy, I appreciate your work and support!

I also make overnight fermented sourdough bread with freshly ground organic Einkorn wheat berries. I don’t eat or drink any of the other foods on your list. 1) I rarely eat bread but will allow myself to eat it sometimes. Years ago I was eating Ezekiel a lot. Today I had a standard white flour tortilla with my Chipotle burrito. 😬 I mainly eat organic sourdough when I do eat bread now. I am planning to make my own at home soon! 2) I haven't had red licorice in ages. I definitely found it delicious when I was younger but never had it often. Don't feel like eating any now but maybe I'd maybe have a bit if someone offered. I rarely eat candy for it to matter. 3) I haven't had microwave popcorn (or movie theater popcorn) in ages. I never want to have it again. I mainly grew up eating homemade air-popped popcorn with drizzled melted butter and seasonings. Nowadays I make my own stovetop organic popcorn with organic cold-pressed olive oil or organic avo oil with seasonings (garlic and onion powder, Redmond salt, Italian seasoning, cayenne, pepper), maybe some melted grass-fed butter or ghee on top, or sometimes I buy the Lesser Evil popcorn. 4) Never have been into diet soda. I haven't had soda in ages. I mainly would drink it sometimes as a kid (I'm 35 now.) I think the last time I had it was a little in my late 20s with some rum a few times (not big on drinking btw, especially now). 5) I still eat wild-caught salmon and sardines (in water, no oil) a few times each week. I also supplement with cod-fish liver oil. 6) I used to drink kombucha a lot too. Not every day, often. It always would make me feel off if I drank too much and too often. For whatever silly reason I ignored the sugar content, even though I knew better, and only focused on the flavor and the probiotics. I'm not opposed to having one again someday. I haven't had one in maybe two years. The very last time I had some, I was only getting low sugar ones. 7) I had a non-organic, not-super-ripe banana for the first time in forever today. 😬 I only really eat organic sweet berries (mostly blueberries), organic tomatoes, olives and capers, avocado, organic lemons, papaya, limes, and plantains... I don't eat fruit every day, just a few times each week and only a little. I used to eat more fruit when I was younger. Nowadays it's mostly veggies and animal foods.

My life was miserable for a few years with so many ‘random’ symptoms which I later realised were all connected to the poor state of my gut after years of poor diet and antibiotics. Conventional medicine was no help at all, with one doctor offering antidepressants (I was exhausted and frustrated, not depressed!). I will be forever grateful to the friend who recommended a nutritionist who identified sugar and wheat to be the root cause of it all. After a few weeks of cutting them out and taking a good probiotic, I got my life back! Over the years I’ve come to realise how common this story sadly is. Thank you Dr Mindy, and everyone else, who work hard to spread this message and help others.

Really interesting what you said about the wheat grown in the US. This is just anecdotal, but when I ate bread overseas I felt perfectly fine. Eating bread over here makes me feel terrible.

I was a bread baker for a long time and many of my customers were from Eastern Europe and would always tell me how much better the bread from there was better! The flour is just different and healthier for you.

Also, "Remedy" Kombucha is the only one I've found that has only 3-5 grams of sugar. It has helped my gut health.

We have a small farm with our own chooks, orchard etc…. and my absolute favourite meal of the day is an organic berry, organic kefir and raw egg (our own) smoothie. Apart from that lots of meat, fish, shellfish, avocado, tomatoes and fruit in season. I take your point on fish of course. Also love raw milk. Love your videos, recently watched the one on Vitamin C flush, very enlightening, thankyou.

Living in Australia and having visited the US lots and having had family live there I have become aware of differences in our food industry and regulation. Not perfect here but definitely different to the US. I still eat fish as there are healthier options but am becoming more picky from where it comes from. Our once pristine Tasmanian salmon now has many problems with it. I eat a lot less bread. Still dapple with sourdough good quality bakery bread but eat a lot less. The other thing I notice about US bread ( and crackers) is the high sugar content- really different to these foods here. I like soup and like to have a bread roll or piece of bread with it and find that the feeling of satisfaction and satiety is just not there when I eliminate bread from this meal. Suggestions??

My daughter died of colon cancer 😭😭she was diagnosed at the age of 17 years old and died 3 years after, so we all wonder why,, when doctor asked what is she eating so my daughter replied I like popcorn then the doc explained why we all should avoid eating popcorn because of the small hard shell in the popcorn can pile up in our colon, unfortunately nobody knew.

Right. I always hear this sort of thing. Some people feel better letting go of some food, while another doesn't. Or someone heaps eating a meat centered diet while someone else heals because they eliminate meat. Don't drink sodas. Can't even if I wanted to. Can't have caffeine or lots of sugar (glucose/sucrose). But I do eat honey wheat bread. I'm fine with it. Eat mostly an organic, whole foods diet, and it's helped my hypoglycemia over the past 13 years I've switched to organic foods. The food that makes me feel most balanced and well oriented is steak.

I am totally with you on American hybridized wheat bread. I converted us over to einkorn flour a few years ago (only wheat varietal that has never been hybridized.) I make sourdough with it every week and use it in place of any other flour. It's a bit tricky to get used to, but it is a totally different experience than traditional American bread. It checks the fermented food box, has a higher protein and fat ratio that normal flours and is delicious!

I gave up all bread products 22 months ago the reason why is because I have an addiction to bread show me a loaf of bread and I'll show you an empty wrapper. I love toast and do not have an off switch. Giving up bread was hard and not having a hot cross bun at Easter was so difficult the first year. Now like all addictions I just no longer want it. When I gave up bread the weight loss accelerated now I only eat food with a nutritional value.

Occasionally I'll have wild caught salmon. I do love my fruit but I usually freeze it and eat it as a frozen treat instead of ice cream. I like getting the polythenals from dark fruits. I like to shop at my farmers market. I watch so many different doctors and each one says a bit different but Dr Mindy is one of my favorites and I also love Dr William Li. I follow a more Mediterranean diet. I can't do straight keto. My diet is way better than it used to be. The rest in the list I don't really eat. On an occasion I'll have bread with limited ingredients and it's usually sour dough bread. I just don't have it in me to be a really strict eater. I don't like all vegetables either. Something I'm learning.

I live in Europe and also follow a Mediterranean diet with salmon, sardines, herings, mackerel and some seafood- all wild caught, seeds and nuts, nut flours like almond, flaxseed, amaranth, quinoa, coconut, lots of vegetables and some fruit- all locally grown from local farmers. I quit meat, dairy 11 years ago, and gluten 5 years ago - it's the best and healthiest diet for me. I feel great.

I do eat Beef and lamb and carefully selected wild Caught Cod, Salmon, and Flounder. I am thrilled with your help in REFINING my FASTING and am now changing times and length of fasting. Added Raw Kefir made from Cows.. as part of my fast breaker 1st meal along w/avocado, protein .. kraut..w/Kefir on top is amazing!! As a desert .. I pour some Raw Kefir on frozen blueberries and a scoop of Whey protein.. mix it in a cup..pot it back in freezer till more solid…😁 great substitute for Haagen Diaz . And it is great nutrition any time.❤

I’m loosing belly fat for the first time in my life but I have to utilize wild caught tuna and salmon in order to get the benefits of protein over the side effects of mercury bc I can’t eat enough protein without those two food sources. Do what’s right for you. Dr. Mindy is sharing what is right for her! Sometimes the medical profession doesn’t realize how complicated life can be for people who need and want to be healthy and they “generalize” which can paralyze patients’ spirit! Not her, but a podcast she was on last night, the host was arrogant, dismissive, and cruel in his message that if “he can do it anyone can do it” and those who can’t do it , he implies, don’t really want to - spirit crunching as I said. And while I’m at it ranting, eat frozen fruit, mix it with Greek yogurt- good protein source. And if you like kombucha, keep it! Or, maybe make subtle changes! And, please don’t listen to just one doctor. While Dr. Mindy is my fasting favorite and is the person responsible for my belly fat loss, I have to eat a lot of Protein, Strength train, I workout on an Elliptical but no cardio, and I take other Dr’s advice and exercise and bodybuilding advice and I’m an editor of a magazine about Belly Fat while I was trying everything under the sun to lose weight. So, once day, I sat down opened up my magazine and started researching how to lose Belly Fat. Good luck with your journey!

I detox often and I eat other meat such as grilled chicken and every now and again red meat, shrimp and salmon. I just don’t like any other protein sources and until I added protein I couldn’t lose belly fat. But it’s a miracle bc I am losing Belly Fat! It’s a miracle and doing it by eating more (protein ) during my fasting window, strength training, Elliptical workout, and throwing away all processed food. That’s it in a nutshell! I’m hoping that salmon doesn’t have as bad of a rap as tuna but with actual belly fat loss and visceral fat loss I think I’m better off doing whatever I can to keep losing belly fat. But, it’s good to be mindful of these things.

I follow a Mediterranean diet with lots of fish - either sardines, herings, or mackerel, and some seafood - locally caught from the Mediterranean sea, also nuts, seeds, no bread, ancient grains like amaranth, quinoa, flaxseed flour, almond flour, beans, lentils, local fruits and vegetables directly from local farmers. I think this is one of the best diets - it has been around for over 2000 years unlike keto, paleo, Atkinson, carnivore, etc.. I feel great and don't need to supplement a lot because I live in Europe where I buy local high quality food from local farmers, which is far more superior than in the US.

I am new to this information. I stopped eating 11:30pm on Aug 9 and have only drank green tea with a sprinkle of pink Himalayan salt, (for minerals) and nothing else in it and lemon water and felt fine. (Just hunger waves that I overcame with the drinking of the green tea and lemon water) Today Aug 12 has been 3 days (72 hours) and I woke up feeling weak, with a dull headache and a challenging episode to breathe after I did a small task of putting a tarp over my catio to keep the furniture dry from the soon coming rain. I became fearful and decided to heat up some organic beef bone broth and ate a few spoonfuls and drank a few swallow of lemon water. I still feel weak and have a dull headache. I have "foam" in the urine and that is why I sense something is amiss with my kidneys. I am basically healthy and I'm not on any meds and rarely ever have been,(only when necessary) I would like a natural remedy but am ignorant to it all. I rarely ever go to the doctor and when I do,, everything is fine except my thyroid but i fear the meds so I haven't taken them. I want to take control of my health but I need a doctor to guide me. I'm not sure how to find one that will treat me in the most natural beneficial way. Can you please help me figure this out?

@@MrTruthseeker1980 Thank you. I ate 1/2 of a tiny container of Chobani Zero Sugar Mixed Berry yogurt (about 5 teaspoons) about 30 minutes ago. And I washed and cut up some fresh organic (bought at Meijer grocery store late last night after work) "leafy greens" to prepare to lightly steam them in an hour. (Spinich, Mustard Greens, Purple Kale) I wrote down these steps of how to break a fast from a prior video of Dr Mindy's. And I'm trying to adhere to her advice. I was hoping to make it to 5 days to to get to the "healing" level so I could try to heal my body and "reset" it. And I remember her saying that flu like symptoms would come and to push through it, but the breathing thing made me nervous to continue the fast, ya know. So I'm trying to break it correctly. I also bought organic, grass fed and finished meat last night; a steak (for beef protien) and some chicken breast that is organic pasture raised. She suggested to space out eating these things for 1 hour. So I did the organic bone broth, waited an hour and then did the yogurt, and next I am supposed to do the lightly steamed veggies, so I'm hoping the "leafy greens" qualify for that step (if not, I have Birds Eye brand frozen trio Cali, broccoli, carrot combo in the freezer) and then I have the steak set out to get room temperature so I can cut into 3 tiny portions (1 for now, 2 for other meals) and cook a pice of that later tonight as a dinner. But I'm wondering if I should eat anything along with that beef, like a 1/4 of a potatoe, or another small portion of lightly steamed veggies, or a small salad with raw greens, cherry tomatoes I picked from my neighbors garden this morning with some baby carrots in it... I'm just so ignorant to the process ya know. I have been listening to MANY videos of Dr's about food being key to a healthy lifestyle, and I find it amazing and powerful to know what NOT to eat and how to eat, and when to eat, etc. But putting it into practice without a guide is a bit scary. So I'm hoping to find a Dr in my area who I can trust to guide me, but that is the HARD part. Not sure how to search that out. Thank you for your advice, I appreciate your time and kindness. 🙏🙂

As a child, approximately 45 years ago, I clearly recall watching the 5:30 evening news with my grandparents. One night the news showed images of barges bringing heaping piles of bagged and loose trash from New York City and dropping it into the ocean. We were horrified! As an adult, I can look back over the years and see many times where other powerful entities were allowed to make similar horrible decisions that negatively impacted wildlife, less powerful people, and earth while they went unscathed. Some people don’t deserve to be so far up the food chain. The injustice makes me sick.

My doctor completely disregarded my concerns about the EBV and my hypothyroid symptoms. My holistic doctor put me on low dose naltrexone to see if I can lower my antibody levels. I hope that fasting helps me heal and finally feel normal again. If anyone has successfully healed from and EBV flare-up and off the charts antibodies, I would appreciate any advice you can give me 😊

You are 100% correct!!! I just wish this feminist movement would include not only women in politics, philanthropy and advocacy, but a whole healthy REAL food movement. Hi Doc! This may sound silly... but could you make a video showing exactly how you make your homemade kettle corn, please? I know it sounds easy enough... but I have a granddaughter with autism. She has what I would call disordered eating.... sensory/texture issues. She prefers crunchy things. She is obsessed with popcorn. I want to get her off the microwave popcorn and the artificial powder flavorings. The kettle corn recipe sounds amazing. I have questions. I have attempted to make buttered popcorn for her several times but I'm doing something wrong. It's like the butter kind of deflates the popcorn and makes it tough and chewy and not as crispy as she likes it. Could you make a kettle corn recipe video, please? She would love the coconut sugar... never thought of that! If any viewers have any tips and tricks I'd be so appreciative! Thank you!!! Love your videos and books! Thanks again!

Hi, I’m happy to share my recipe. I buy organic kernels from my local grocery store. Use a 2 qt pot with a lid. Add 3 tbsp of oil (I use either Chosen Foods Avocado oil or Organic coconut oil) over a medium high heat with 1/3 cup popcorn kernels. Cover with a lid and shake occasionally. Once you hear popping, slightly tilt the lid to vent. Once the popping slows down and you can see popcorn rising to top of the pot, turn off the flame and allow rest of kernels to pop. It tastes delicious plain. You can also top it with a few sprays of Chosen Foods Avocado Oil spray and salt. If you use butter as a topping, spoon off milk solids or use ghee instead. Enjoy!

I do that same recipe but sprinkle fresh herbs like oregano sage and sea salt so good - I feel coconut oil is best to use

You are right about fruit especially tomatoes. The shop bought tomatoes here in Scotland don't taste good. My garden has a blackberry bush and the berries are slowly becoming ripe and they taste fantastically good!

Thank you Dr. Mindy. I was IF for a couple of years, lost 12 pounds and my belly. Then I got LPR Reflux. I stopped coffee and changed my eating and am just fine again. I’m a bit worried about coffee on an empty stomach so will monitor that going forward. I’m going to try every other day OMAD as I saw a viewer do in your comments. I’m 76 on no meds weigh 140 lbs. am 5’6. I love IF for the energy I have and the flat stomach. I like your list of foods and drinks not to eat. I put collagen in my coffee and an almond milk creamer. Is that ok. Also, I often have lemon juice in water before the coffee. Am I still fasting with all this in the morning? Thanks for all that you do. Linda

I've recently started making my own sauerkraut - love it, SO easy! And now interested in making my own sourdough bread using Einkhorn and also making my own starter.... conventionally processed flours with all the glutens and the GMO'd grains - ugh! But I don't want to completely give up bread - that's not sustainable for me. So I will give my own sourdough a try 😄 plus since it takes about a year to make a loaf of sourdough from scratch ( 😂 ) I probably will only eat it once in a great while

Are you growing your own wheat? Making your own sourdough shouldn’t take that long unless you’re saving up for a grain mill. Traditional Cooking School online will teach you in no time!

Kombucha. I brew my own. I ferment out most of the sugar so there is only a very slight sweetness. And unlike commercial kombuchas (I imagine) it is unpasteurised so I don't believe it is a weak probiotic. Also has a ton of polyphenols because I steep the tea for 1/2 hour of more. As tea it just tastes nasty at that point but the kombucha is lovely. To make your own is easy enough once you are in the flow of it. Tip. The pellicle is not the scoby - the scoby is in the starter tea from the previous batch and the pellicle (mushroom, growth on the top) is not necessary to get going

Loved your comment about popcorn!! I love 'ladyfinger' popcorn. Tiny kernels that pop up small and crunchy. Anyway I put 1/3 cup in a paper lunch sack. Fold down several times and microwave on its side about 2-2 1/2 minutes. Then I spray with coconut oil to help salt to stick.
