He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Sad because most if not all the issues were with the barrel feed ramp which is why there is now the enhanced feed ramp offered by ballistic advantage which runs flawless btw. The only other issue I ever found was the ejector screws came lose. I cleaned them and the hole and used blue loctite, never had another issue after that. She runs better than my boys vector. He looks at my ar9 with envy now lol. Also his vector broke the bolt tabs that the bolt rides on! One over pressured reloaded 9mm destroyed the bolt. Had to get a new one, what a POS.

I also changed to a carbine spring, with the 308 spring the scopes and rail covers where shaking loose, and I guess the holosun on it would have died had I not changed the spring. Macon is the name I couldn't remember in my comment! Same change here and had them do my barrel. I run it suppressed now and there may as well be no recoil with the suppressor damping the recoil jump. No suppressor I still find it very jumpy like a pistol compared to a smooth AR-15

I purchased the 9mm BCG a little over a year ago from Aero Precision. I did have a problem at first finding them in stock. What I found was that if you request an “in stock” notification you will not receive one for one to two days after they are in stock. By then they are sold out. I have no idea why that is but that is what I found. I learned this once I started checking their website multiple times a day. That’s how I found it in stock and ordered it immediately. I never received the notification until the next day. By that time they were indeed sold out.

Hop, you really gotta check out the extar ep9. Original design, but it uses AR controls and Glock magazines. It's super entry level at sub 500 bucks, but mine kicks ass and runs nonstop. They swapped out the AR BCG for a 17 oz blowback bolt, and preserved the AR buffer system to dampen recoil. My friend has a CMMG banshee, and don't get me wrong. The banshee is way more high end. But when we shoot them side by side, the extar is absolutely within the same context, and performs very well. I honestly believe that if they made a premium version with higher grade materials and tighter fit, extar would absolutely crush the market. It's impressive.
@smokingcrab2290
@smokingcrab2290 Жыл бұрын
I have one and I agree. It's a kickass gun. I'm disappointed you can't really use aftermarket triggers (or so extar says), and the fact that simple upgrades are expensive and limited (adapter for a milspec buffer tube and an upgraded handguard is upwards of $350) but overall the value is tremendous. Very light. Very fun to shoot. Accurate af. The only way it fails is if it's due to a magazine related failure. I want to put a suppressor compatible muzzle brake on mine.

I can vouch for this. I bought the Foxtrot Mike upper/lower from Primary arms about 18 months ago and it has worked perfectly from the first trigger pull. I got the 3" upper and put a SBA3 and a Sylvan Arms folding adapter. Also replaced the trigger with a CMC 3lb AR9 trigger. It is the funnest gun I own and everyone who sees it wants one. It is a completely drama-free AR, tons of fun, and cheap. With the brace and trigger I'm into it about $700.

Came here to say this. He dismissed it way too quick up front. The CMMG RDB system is fantastic for reliability and mitigating the recoil compared to a blowback AR9. I built an EPC9 last year, great gun. I'm running an integrally suppressed build myself. The recoil was annoying for sure, it was just so jumpy with that heavy bolt and buffer slapping around in there. But my local shop had some Armaspec SMB-9 6.8oz captured spring buffers and I took a chance on it. Best upgrade so far. It feels just like a smooth 5.56 now. You remove the weights from your bolt upon installation and it really cuts down on reciprocating mass. I want to say it also lightened the gun, but I haven't weighed it. Might be worth looking into for $59.99!

My AR9 uses the modified AR15 mags, which have built-in feed ramps. So the feed cone in the barrel becomes redundant. So far, it has run just about everything I feed it... hollowpoints, round-nose FMJ, flat-nose FMJ, 115grn, 124grn, 147grn. The one downside is the ejector built into the magazine. When you drop the mag, you lose the ejector. So you need to have an empty mag handy, to stuff in and clear the chamber.

At 6.5k, I’ve had to change out the ejector spring 5 times, have gone through 2 extractors, and now have a crack on the bolt where the cam pin goes through. Shooting suppressed with a YHM R9, using the heaviest bolt weight, and carbine spring & buffer that cmmg reccomends. Shoots well, but now that I travel for work I wish I had gotten a Glock fed lower.

I have an EPC9 bolt and my local store has them in stock I could go buy one right now. Edit: Having watched the video now... Works great suppressed if you aren't using direct thread. Most compatible brakes etc will get the teeth out past the handguard to function. I have mine in an Aero Enhanced handguard so suppressors will fit under as well if that is desirable to you. I had to switch springs to an AR carbine spring for subs to function, the 308 spring caused failure to feeds on subs. I keep the 308 spring in the bag for supers though. I also had a gen1 barrel design and ended up paying ~115$ with shipping to have the barrel re-machined to what looks identical to the new barrel design and a non-aero buffer. I originally went 100% aero for the build and immediately regretted it with the gen1 barrel not being able to feed literally anything I put in it round nose or not. Mine did eat a Vortex Sparc Solar after about 400 mostly subsonic rounds.

@@sluttybutt One of the things about the gun community is that anything considered a "low cost" option is immediately regarded as dogshit and not serious. Hop isn't terrible about this, but every gun forum is. In reality, often a low-cost option is FANTASTIC - for example, LaRue Triggers, Streamlight Protac lights, PSA anything, most Ruger things. Guys who think cost = quality get really uptight when something that cost half as much preforms twice as well, because they assume it makes them look foolish. There is a real attitude about "Hey, I spend $2,500 for this Noveske, I'm better than you." Great video as always thank you. I absolutely agree with your comments about Aero! I built 2 - LR308 pattern guns. One 308 Win. and one 7mm08 Remmington. All of the parts for one were Aero -Enhanced upper/ complete lower set with Magpul PRS stock, adjustable gas block, bolt carrier, charging handle, etc. The only part NOT Aero was the barrel (Wilson combat stainless steel) The other build was with Wilson combat barrel/bolt carrier/adjustable gas block but all the same Aero parts. I assembled both firearms and test fired with multiple different loads, and both had cycling issues mostly short stroking / failure to eject /etc. No matter what I did with swapping out the Wilson combat parts with the Aero parts -still the same issues even with both gas blocks fully open (the gas blocks are aligned and confirmed with a bore scope). I swapped out the recoil spring for an AR15 rifle length spring I had on hand and both functions properly with the correct ejection pattern. This is still with the gas blocks fully open. I contacted Aero about the issues and told them what the issue was - the LR 308 springs they supplied are too stout for this application. I asked them if they could send me 2 AR15 rifle length springs and I would send them back the ones that did not work. I was told that since I used parts that were "NOT" Aero there was nothing they could do for me. I told them that NO WERE on their site does it say that you can "ONLY" use Aero parts to build an AR platform. He was snide and told me that is not what he is saying. After 2 months of back and forth he sent me 2 of the exact same springs I already had that didn't work and now I have 4 of them. I looked online and found multiple people having the same cycling issues with Aero's LR platform. I purchased 2 AR15 rifle length springs and installed them and now both are working great with many rounds down range. As a side note - when I assemble any platform, I grease the crap out of them, and hand cycle the action at least a couple of hundred times, then fully clean and lube before test firing. I do like the quality and affordability from Aero and have purchased more items from them, but you may have to do some troubleshooting first before function!

I put one of these together with the 8.3" barrel & "enhanced" m-lok rail and ended up buying a bolt from Faxon because I also could never find the Aero bolt lol. Also, I never knew how sketchy it sounds when you drop an AR9 bolt on an empty chamber. There's no way that bolt hammering into the barrel could do anything other than beat itself to death lol. Furthermore, I never had a gun that absolutely positively required a break in period like my EPC9 did. I have never used any other AR9 but yeah, can confirm everything you said.

I've had really good results with the Foxtrot Mike FM9 "platform" in my AR9 builds. They make a good BCG, and they make a very nice LRBHO lower. So far I've had the best/most comfortable setup using a Rise PCC 140 drop-in trigger and Ballistic Advantage barrels (not the "EPC" ones to my knowledge) - but there's a catch. Only some magazines mate properly with the lower so that they don't tilt the wrong way and cause feed issues. Naturally I get the best results from factory glock or knock-offs like the Korean or the P80 ones, but also the 27 round Pmags seem to fit snugly enough to not rock north/south and cause feed issues, even with (most) hollow points. Steer clear of really thin bodied mags like Amend2. Obviously it helps to have the roundest and/or pointiest bullet shape, so some rounds work better than others, but as long as you put a decent charging handle on them any feed issues are pretty easily cleared.

I got my EPC-9 upper and lower set on the third wave of its release. I got the barrel, handguard, drop in trigger assembly,BCG, buffer and buffer tube during Aero Precision’s second EPC-9 release wave. I got a buffer spring and takedown pins from Strike Industries. I put a Sig Romeo MSR on it and to be honest after about 300 rounds of a mixture of target and critical defense ammo the only problems I’ve had is mine won’t drop (without pulling it) Glock stick mags. I appreciate the video.

Hop, you are 100% correct on trying to hit a goal weight for reciprocating mass in an AR9. That goal should be around 22-24oz atleast. It can cycle up to 37oz and 27oz is the sweet spot for a soft recoil and reliability. I recommend a dead blow style buffer like the Midway USA AR Stoner 11oz heavy 9mm buffer. My EPC 9 runs great with this buffer. Check out the work and reasesrch preformed by a KZbinr “Blowback9”

I'm just gonna mention, CMMG has a Colt SMG lower for their radial delay, so one can have a radial delay without going to Glock or Sig magazines. You need to use the CMMG lower, barrel, and bolt carrier ground. You can use your own standard upper, stocks (regular 5.56 buffers/springs), and triggers. It's the only gun I regret selling, and I will be building one in the future on the Colt SMG lower (I had the Glock lower, the only unreliability I had was a +2 extension on a 24 round magazine _without_ a longer spring, because I was both lazy and curious, which means _I_ was the cause entirely)

I built a Frankenstein AP EPC with their upper/lower, Faxon 16" (really 14" with break), Alpha Shooting BCG, and CMC trigger. I had to reduce the dwell because it was just ramming the bullets against the cone and sinking them into the cases. I changed to a hydraulic buffer with reduced weight and reduced spring to slow things down. This allowed the next round to get in the correct position before the bolt came slamming back. Slow motion on the GoPro captured a few damning frames of the problem. Polished the feed cone just because and had to tune the follower on some mags so they work with the catch wire. Definitely not for a beginner, but once tuned it performs like a swiss watch. AR-9's make sense to me because several of the local ranges only allow pistol calibers.

Glock mags might be "better" than Colt SMG mags, but I'd still rather see the market move in the direction of the PSA AR-V and New Frontier Armory in going with scorpion mags. I also went with a 5.5" barrel when I built out my AR-V, although I opted to put a KVP modular linear comp and as MWI 8" SP handguard on it, which offers a comfortable amount of rail space to actually mount accessories and leave room for my hand. unfortunately, even with the folding buffer tube adapter it's still ended up a little too big to be properly a bag gun.

PSA have an AR9 that's 100% built by them, I think it's called the gen 4 AR9 or something that uses Glock mags and is different than the other AR9 stuff they have, but you can buy it fully assembled and everything and even find it as a daily deal quite often I'd be *REALLY* interested in a review of that (Or the jackl as I really wanna see a review of a prison based AR that can be set for both 223/556 and 300blackout (from the same upper, unlike brownells that's like a grand or cheaper, and if built not only is it cheaper but it uses regular AR lowers) So for the more budget minded like me, I'd REALLY REALLY wanna see a review of either from a KZbinr I trust and respect review either of them... Also when someone who doesn't review 2A items often reviews an item they buy there's always that review paradox where they might be reviewing it with a better impression simply because they put *THEIR* money into it(not getting a review copy or one bought with subscribe star/Patreon/whatever supporters cash) and so will justify some of the issues with the item so they don't feel "stupid" for wasting their own cash on a firearm that really isn't good... Whereas I believe you could get either a copy of either from PSA directly and do a review (with a disclaimer/disclosure as you're clearly used to doing) or buy one with money from your supporters knowing it's for review (and that after you keep it if you like it, sell it if you don't, and there's no pressure about it as it's not your *only* AR9 or in case of the jackl it's not a firearm you have to keep as money is that tight... Just a random subscribers requests/hopes to see in a future video

After retorquing the bolts it shot great for a couple of mags then failed to fire every other round. I disassembled and inspected the bolt carrier and found a round burr that had worked loose covering the firing pin hole inside the bolt. I removed the burr and reassembled, it's been functioning great for several hundred rounds now. Quality control with the bolts is an issue and probably why they are out of stock.

I built one with all Aero parts minus the barrel which was ballistics advantage (still Areo right). It refuses to fire hallow points which smashes the bullet into the case against the barrel without actually feeding into the ramp or chamber. Interestingly I had some 140+ grain bullets which had a flat tip which did the same. 115 grain fmj feeds and cycles fine. I'm not an AR guy, never had a practical reason for it, however my son and I where shooting indoor and the range rules did allow him to shoot .22 and 9mm in rifle format so my reason became evident. I'm overall dissatisfied with the performance of it but will keep it in the collection and am glad to have him exposed to the AR platform for education and safety. My Henry is still the coolest looking and being 44mag can actually be used for hunting. Great content and thank you!
