"...And Their Eulogies Sang Me To Sleep" All I heard was the sound of fish who'd drowned. All I saw was the inside of my eyelids. All I said fell short of reaching open ears. Word's floating, clouding the view... “See no, hear no, speak no evil” leave you deaf, dumb and blind, because the bad is all that you'll find. A deeply heart-felt goodbye to the part of me that dies when I decided to put others before me, yes, my heart fell asleep -- boredom and fatigue. I always said I wanted to die smiling, to pretend I'm at peace. Now from my corpse beams a frigid, blank grin and once hopeful eyes are sunken in. Like a lullaby to the cradle is the eulogy to the casket. All my flaws swept under the table to grieve the porcelain doll that was me. Their solemn songs sang me to sleep as my body escaped me. Their solemn songs sang me to sleep as my body... (Welcome down to the new world! Happiness is being interred !) Such a shameful masquerade ! Fleeting, frozen minutes on display. Why is evolution such a shameful thing to say ? Can you feel your bodily decay ? (Arms are beside me, hands open wide. Seems I was living my life in rewind, taking so many steps backwards, not looking behind.) Because I can sure as hell feel my brain going blank. If my body betrays me, this pollution to thank. This condition infects my cells like it controls my mind. Internal army, defend me behind enemy lines ! Fragile vehicle of mine ! Don't abandon me yet ! There is so much to live for that we so easily forget. Fascination with the fear... The concept escapes me. All encompassing fate... how it wrenches our hearts, torments our souls and sings us all to sleep, to an eternal keep, no matter what beliefs, it sings us all...

@julianfelton3068
@julianfelton3068 4 жыл бұрын
@Naga Harley Quinn That's exactly my point! I don't hate her but I am also not her biggest fan either. And yes the chemistry with Alissa despite their infighting as some people love to focus on they made some top knotch kind of avant-garde stuff that they were on the cusp of getting too but never did. I myself have heard their newest album Orphans as well while their are a few alright tracks for different reasons it just pales in comparison and doesn't hit the way it use to with Alissa. And yeah that cover not that great I much prefer the original any day. What do you think of their new album Orphans?
@julianfelton3068
@julianfelton3068 4 жыл бұрын
@Naga Harley Quinn I know what you mean it's kind of the way I felt about it. Great instrumentals not all their best and yeah the vocals and lyrics just kill it for me as well. Especially the lyrics which just seem like their there to fill in space rather than mean something to the song. And that alone makes the album somewhat forgettable in that regard. What's even worse people actually tried defending Vicky lyrics by saying Alissa writes edgy teen mentality lyrics. I was like what the fuck are you talking about. Do you even know what emo is? Yeah a lot of morons who clearly don't know about the good stuff and like their streamlined sound now.
@julianfelton3068
@julianfelton3068 4 жыл бұрын
@Naga Harley Quinn Especially with the douche name M G this guy actually said emo lyrics? I was about through with the guy because at that point I knew he was absolute moron if I ever encountered one lol. It's clear most of the people in the comment section of the new stuff just hate Alissa because it's the cool thing to do rather than actually see what were saying in regard to her contributions that made that era timeless for a reason. And yeah after reading through the lyrics of Orphans before it came out I was like what in the fuck is this shit. I was underwhelm by that and the album followed suit in that degree as well. Funny thing you look up Alissa's lyrics endless quotable's and amazing writing through out which is gravely missed and is just one more nail in the coffin of the new era.
@julianfelton3068
@julianfelton3068 4 жыл бұрын
@Naga Harley Quinn That's mostly what it is bad blood/infighting but instead of letting that go they instead harp on it as if it's truth when the same thing they love to accuse Alissa of the band could be doing themselves. And of course they're not remembering because it's cool to hate her and shows many of them are followers with a lack of mind of their own. Trust me Alissa era blows Vicky's out the water because not one album since she's been there surpasses her stuff on any level. But have the audacity to say Orphans is their best album like Prisoners or Lullabies doesn't exist or something. It goes without saying Alissa's lyrics are miles, lightyears and even far to intellectual for the streamline audience Vicky has dragged into the house knowing hers are nothing to write home about at all. What's your favorite Alissa era album? Mine is Prisoners but I love them all honestly. Far as Five and Eye Of Providence which are Vicky's other two albums with the band. Five is streamline garbage and EOP while it had some decent songs in the first half slightly it just got boring by the end. Not too mention lyrically sort of ripping off her Alissa's writing style but not does as well despite their best efforts or even in their hatred of her.

¡No me abandones todavía!

it's a pity shame how you young people are so clueless on talent, great art. You missing out of the best entertainment. This girl is one of the best vocalist in the world, metal music is so loud you cannot hear yourself scream, a metal vocalist has the toughest job in music. You couldn't sing loud enough to sing in a live Arch Enemy song, noway with out alot of hard work/ practice. Metal genre is the best and you guys don't realize it. In the big brutal metal world some don't like her either because she's better, she doesn't get the credit she deserves, and many are mean and cruel to women, but the hip hop fake fuks get all the glory and money!, because again people are stupid, Americans do not know what real art is that's why you have auto tune.Justin, Miley, Pink, and old and new Rap SHIT!I wouldn't waste dime to listen too!

Doug Williams I agree with you that Alissa is a good singer, but that's a relative matter. Angela Gossow was a great vocalist too, she could sing louder than Alissa, you should check out some some of her videos when she was in the band. And yes, you said some true shit about the nowadays pop and rap musicians.
@dougwilliams2200
@dougwilliams2200 7 жыл бұрын
Ramon Oliveira I have studied Angela (I'm her fan), and again, I repeat often!, Angela shouts louder but it's not long , she makes them short so she can be louder, hmmm! think about it! Alissa is way underestimated and underrated. Alissa fools the ears because of her Beauty!! Alissa's vocal range is 'longer',and Alissa has WAY more 'melody' in her 'low pitch' ',Alissa has better body language with the crowds, she makes them active with her body language, not sexual either, musical. Alissa sings faster songs than Angela never sung before, on War Eternal album. fact. Also being the loudest isn't important as most people believe, Sometimes Alissa is louder sometimes she's not!. Most people also confuse 'low dirty vocal' with 'growls. You noticed Alissa's low pitch 'melody' in the War Eternanl album songs? it's beautiful to metal heads. listen!, these type of vocal sounds is the main thing in the songs, not always how loud you growl matters.. Some metal heads like low vocal melody with lower growls. Alissa's unique vocal range made that super album the best album in their career,highest album on all metal/rock charts around the world, facts. I read from Century records, Revolver mag, and Michael Amott's interviews, he said, ..... ''War Eternal turned out to be the best seller out of all our albums'' also it hit highest in the big charts in Germany and North America, higher than any other album we have''. We are going to Wacken as the main attraction and the 'biggest stage production show' for the first time'', we close the show!'' .''War Eternal song is the best song out of all our songs'', it sold more as a track and hit higher views on YT'', and best reviews world wide'', these are the reasons WE was picked to close the biggest metal show in the world this year,'' and aired live around the world it's the biggest thing we never had, before we was the underdog,... then Michael looked at Alissa and in front of the world he said, ''Thank you Alissa for all the great success, for once we are not the underdogs'', then Michael laughed! and the camera crew was SHOCKED! I was too. lol! facts. Did you not know this?. Also Arch Enemy's fan base is larger since she joined, they was BIG before, but much bigger now, THEY were the biggest band at the biggest metal fest and iit's like a secrect nobody talks about it, crazy! don't reply me if you disagree, go do your own research the proof is everywhere in videos. I just feel more people need to give Alissa at least a brake and a cheer for her cool ass suucess and I'm glad I'm a part of her, she is amazing, nice, and a sweet metal head chick! Angela I love and she is one of the best too but I do believe Alissa has much more ranges in her vocal skills, and her clean vocals are outstanding, I don't believe Angela is louder, Angela shouts more!

Honestly since I heard it for the first time (I was around 11-12) I thought it was such a brutal and great song. With time I got to really understand and think about the lyrics and I only liked more. Today I'm 19 close to 20 and tbh I barely listen to metal anymore, but damn this song is so fucking great in so many ways, I still think it needs more recognition.

She seems like a good person' and I assume she's had to go through people telling her how crazy she was being in this sort of band. It's rather inspiring, really. As Alissa said herself (In a song, mind you): "When half a race carries the weight of existence and society shuns most circumstances; reputation screams to conform, and cast out anything deviating from the norm."
