You’ve touched on many reasons why I’ve ruled the LC out 1. Battery taking up precious cargo room 2. Can’t disable start/stop 3. Rat’s nest under the hood Also, standard nanny-cam? No thanks Of note - can easily upgrade horn, a few tutorials on KZbin now along with P/Ns etc

The Prado has always been sold in the UK as their "Land Cruiser", since the first gen Prado first released, so Toyota has extended that trend to North America.

4:51 Fun fact: In Japan Toyota offers color-switchable fog lights on many models, and not just SUVs. It's also on the Yaris.

It does in fact have a starter just like the Tundra hybrid. When you open the gas door with the ignition off(getting gas) it should start the engine with the starter, and not the MG.

@Benoncars it does have a HUD, you will have to go into the instrument settings to put it on as its not put ON from factory. Had to go deep into the settings cos I noticed there was HUD glass panel on the dashboard. Chatting from Nigeria 🇳🇬

The 2.4L T24A-FTS might already be replaced soon. The next generation Hilux will get the still in development 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder and it will probably move to all the other Toyotas shortly after.

Absolutely agree about the interior. It is a much better laid out and thought out space than the GX550. Frankly, the Lexus would be better if they just kept the Prado interior. Toyota’s positioning on this is weird though. The price point and feature set as so close between the GX550 and LC, and given how it has traditionally been on the same platform as the 4Runner, it would have made more sense to drop the hybrid system, reduce cost, and sell this as the new 4Runner.
@georgetown8986Ай бұрын
The Land Cruiser has always been in a different league. And has always been at a higher point than the Lexus GX. The Land Cruiser is a more prestigious SUV than the GX and has always had a higher demand and significantly better resale value than the Lexus.

I wish we got the diesel or even the N/A 2.4 for cheaper money. It may not be as fast but 50+ thousand dollars starting is still a lot tbh, especially for, a compromised hybrid

This is not a mild-hybrid. It's a full hybrid.
@dtcjeep3957Ай бұрын
Hybrid only kicks in when you step on the gas, or are idling around the parking lot. You can’t drive in electric mode only. It’s there for extra power.
@imnotusingmyrealname4566Ай бұрын
@@dtcjeep3957 it's still not a mild mybrid, mild hybrid can't improve peak power, this can, also mild hybrid voltage is 48V, this has 300V or so

Incredible review, I love the way you do it, but holy that is the wimpiest horn for a massive SUV I've ever heard. At least that can be swapped out easily for something from like a Camry or Tacoma.

@BernonCarsАй бұрын
LOL prolapsed 😭😭😭
@georgetown8986Ай бұрын
The Land Cruiser comes with two different hitch covers. The hitch is large and attached to the frame and has a large tow capacity.
@jdrein9511Ай бұрын
The hitch won't be relocated. It protrudes because the spare tire takes up space in front of it.

The new land cruiser might be the final nail in the coffin for me ever thinking Toyota can make another great car tbh. A great review (as always) but these things are absolutely hideous to me, like, several leagues below Toyota's already plain car designs, and it's pretty clear that this is just a slightly more-capable mall crawler. Shouldn't be too hard to find good condition used ones in 10 years after half of them get repo'd off that $70k MSRP tho

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder- I fell in love with the style, sold my 2016 rubicon 4door (fully kitted out) and bought the base model. Now I have more creature comforts and more towing capacity. Hopefully better reliability. I’m going to change the oil every 5k or even less just to try and make this the last 4x4 I need…

These smaller, more powerful 4 cylinders need the extra octane. My 2020 Miata had a naturally aspirated 2.0 and required premium. It’s the way the automotive world is going. Smaller and more powerful.
@dtcjeep3957Ай бұрын
@@Anomize23I preferred the interior design (dash) layout better in the Land Cruiser. Just a personal preference- I bought a 1958- so far so good. Almost had it for 4 months now. It’s my first ever Toyota. Had 2 Jeep Wranglers for a total of 27 years. It was time for a change. For Desert off roading , I believe I’ll do fine with 4 traction mats a shovel and a compressor. A winch is in the future but there’s not many bumpers available now.
