I love the whole arc of this movie. Starting Peter off as just looking for revenge, rationalizing it as trying to protect people. Then Captain Stacy calls it what it is, a personal vendetta, and that flawed as the system is, it's what makes sure a person has to be guilty beyond a reasonable doubt before the state can take away their freedom. Peter learns and grows and moves past his motive for revenge and into truly helping people in ways no one else can, from threats no one else can handle. Much as I love the Raimi Spider-Man movie, the emotional and character journey of Peter in this one feels so much more rewarding.

Admittedly Flash is a hard character in the movies to like because they don’t give you all the details. Canonically, Flash has an abusive homelife so the only coping mechanism Flash learns is to pass on the abuse to others. In the current MCU it’s more of abandonment by emotionally unavailable parents because family-friendly Disney. Comics-wise, after high school Flash sees the hurt he does to others and becomes a better person and mends things with Peter. In more recent years writers had Flash join the US military and he served overseas in an active conflict where he lost both his legs. Shortly after recovering in the states the government gave him the venom symbiote which had been confiscated from Eddie Brock and Flash became a government sanctioned hero in his own right with his own monthly book as Agent Venom, my personal favorite host of the venom symbiote. So yeah, a case of a c-list supporting character getting a weirdly intense amount of development over the decades.

Even when he beat up Peter, he looked bored, he didn’t look pumped or excited to beat him up, it was all a front to hide his own pain most likely and he was lost. But we see this changes in amazing Spider-Man 2 when they hug and became friends.

Andrew Garfield is my favorite Spider-Man AND Peter Parker. He brings such a wounded anger to the character that really elevates to the themes in the movie (isolation, abandonment, etc.)… and I’ve never felt more of a grounded and relatable performance from a Spidey than when Andrew played him. Love his work.

The whole abandonment thing feels a little contrived. Like, surely May and Ben would have set the record straight that Peter’s parents didn’t leave because they didn’t want anything to do with him. If they don’t want to tell him how his parents were branded as criminals they can still make up and twist any story they want.

One KZbinr I know pointed out that since Peter’s dad was able to make his dna compatible with the spider venom, then that in theory means he could have done the same for Norman Osborne to cure him of his disease. If he told Norman that then that might of convinced him to stop his dealings with whatever foreign power that was funding the research.

I don’t know about that. TSM is like a low 6/10 and TSM2 a higher 6/10, these movies writing is not that good and the best thing about them is the acting carried they the actors doing their best they can with a bad script, the relationship of Peter and Gwen, the VFX and score, other than that these movies aren’t that good. Underrated superhero movies are Unbreakable, Watchmen, Dredd 2012, Megamind and maybe you can slide Man of Steel in there.

37:14 Connors/Lizard at least when I paid attention to Spider-Man stuff was always a bit of a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde thing, Curt Connors himself is an ally that often helped Spider-Man in whatever way he could but the Lizard was not really good or bad just primal and chaotic. Something would happen to trigger the Lizard transformation(his family, friends or him being in danger or just extreme stress) then Spider-Man would have to battle the Lizard and find a way to revert him back to Curt Connors.

I'm so glad you checked out Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man! I remember when this movie came out! It felt weird seeing him as Spider-Man the first time I saw this movie because I was use to Tobey's Spider-Man, but at the end of the day I thought this movie was good. The second one, in my opinion, was even better than the first! I personally enjoyed the second Amazing Spider-Man movie and it was unfortunate that it'll be the last Spidey movie for this series. Once again, I'm glad you enjoyed this movie and I look forward seeing the next one! :-D

The reason why the original trilogy and TASM1 were memorable, was because of the producer LAURA ZISKIN It was because of her and her husband (the screenwriter Alvin Sargent) that the movies had depth She was the only one capable to tell AVI ARAD when to back off Unfortunately, she died in 2011, during the production of TASM1 Without her, there was no one to stop Arad from destroying the franchise Spiderman was nothing without her

Gwen Stacy: Amazing Spider Man #53 ( 1967) appears. Tragically Gwen Stacy was killed during battle between Spider Man and Green Goblin. Green Goblin dropped her off his glider. The writers of Spider Man saw the growing popularity of Mary Jane Watson, they changed the storyline of Gwen Stacy being the central love interest. So they decided to kill her off, and made Mary Jane Watson the main love interest. Later they killed her off, but public was angrier by this. They brought her back by saying Spider Man thought she was killed by a super villain. Mean while Peter Park relationship with Mary Jane Cousin Jill Watson , didn't last because Mary Jane Watson returned. Peter grieved over Mary Jane Watson death, during his grief he found comfort with Jill, and it grow to love relationship. Jill disappeared after Mary Jane return.

I always liked how after Uncle Ben dies Pete totally misunderstands when Flash approaches him at school and assumes he's trying to pick a fight when he's just trying to tell him he's sorry for his loss and by the time the movie ends they're on good terms. It was a cool little callback to the comics, where Flash was originally Pete's bully but they eventually became good friends after they grew up and Flash matured a bit. I remember all that from the Spider-Man comics I used to read as a kid back in the day and how it stuck with me that even as adults they'd sometimes talk about their teens and laugh about how Flash was a jerk.

The label on the camera had to be one of the dumbest choices for the story. I would have had Peter take some photos earlier in the film while he was with Conners, and later when Lizard finds the camera he goes through the cameras files and when he finds the photos Peter took earlier, he realizes who Spider-Man is.

Black Cat (Felicia something) has the hots for the Spider-Man but I dunno if there was ever any romance between them before MJ came along... the Cat does still lust for the Spider, though.

If you’re gonna criticize the MCU Spider-Man at least do it with a good argument, I hate how people criticize the MCU Spider-Man with shitty arguments. “Notice how Spider-Man villains are people that are connected to Peter, not Tony Stark” Why don’t you notice how SM3 had horrible villains, TSM and TSM2 and Homecoming and FFH gave us two of the best Spidey villain in live action what about that? Tom Holland Spider-Man is connected to something bigger, like in the comics while Tobey and Andrew didn’t had anything expect the Spidey characters. MCU Spider-Man also don’t had the characters rights so they couldn’t use Oscorp, Alchemax, etc, to create the villains and be more connected to Spider-Man instead of Tony. Also Tom’s interpretation was the third one and Spider-Man already had five movies before Tom’s first appearance in Civil War. The MCU couldn’t do an origin story and give us the same characters again, they did MCU Spider-Man very unique by being inspired by different versions of the character (616 comics, Ultimate and Miles). You may not like it but the MCU gave us the best Spider-Man character arc and the best portrait of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, he is perfect at both. Tobey and Andrew got bitten and instantly became a hero, that’s not how Spider-Man is, he is a very flawed character and the MCU portrayed that perfectly. It’s sad that so many people are blinded by nostalgia and don’t appreciate how amazing Tom’s Spider-Man is. Y’all love to criticize the MCU Spider-Man but don’t use the same energy with the others. For example, Tobey had the worse acting of the three, it was pretty bad and cringe. He also had the worse relationship out of the three, it was retry toxic and horrible. SM1 and SM2 are carried by the villains mostly, they carry in the acting aspect and JK because without Willem, Alfred and JK the acting in those movies are bad and haven’t age well and let’s not talk about SM3. He got bitten and they made him an adult and we didn’t saw any of his child face, literally when the character is supposed to be bitten at 15. TSM I already told you the best things but other than that the villains are horrible, the plot is trash, the storytelling and the writing. Andrew Garfield is the best actor out of the three and I am glad he got a redemption in NWH but sadly his movies aren’t great. Just like with Tobey he got bitten and they instantly made him a man, we didn’t get any face of a child Spider-Man (Literally when the character is created). And now Tom, he gave us the best acting performances. His movies portrayed the character perfectly and when Peter Parker is a kid in the comics and gets bitten, they did it perfectly. The movies aren’t perfect tho, but they are not horrible, both Homecoming and FFH are a solid 7.5/10 and NWH a 8/10. He had the best character arc and I can’t wait to see how the MCU portrait my favorite face of the character (when he is an adult and starts to struggle with money, time, work, grades, relationship, etc).
