I'm curious regarding the following question: how much was rare literacy in the bronze and early iron age the primary basis of what one might call "hard magic systems" (Tolkien used a soft magic system, Harry Potter is very hard) of early human civilization. Which seems to be the case based on the material you've provided, as I read it. That a Babylonian magic amulet might seem to possess no other characteristics other than writing saying "Get Out, Stay Away" seems to be trick of literacy being rare in and of itself rather than any sort of intricate engineering of the language or attempted alchemy in combination. A video on this, if it hasn't been done would be great.

I dont know much about the Angel of Death except my personal experience with this angel... in meditation, this angel appeared to me, showed me many levels, showed many things to come.... like a story book coming to life...very cool my second encounter with this Angel, II seen him casting a spell upon me, as I accepted this spell, lots of hands started coming from all over my vessel and removing what looked to be parasites. Not only did I feel refreshed but I feel that a lot that was bothering me, never came back into my experience. Much loves and appreciation for this Angel because this entity, killed parts of myself that was hindering me.

@@justbrian... So my awakening started, with AA Michael, hardcore atheist, and was visited by him and others, I got no visual experience from the beginning of my journey... I ended up making my way across the states, when I hit the streets of San Fran, a lot of things came to life there in meditation. First time seeing the Angel of Death in many meditation sittings. What prompted my journey though... one night I was visited by a UFO and a group of entities. made me question reality, and what is real. I am grateful for that night because it opened my mind to the endless possibilities. Scared the crap out of me, but it all happened for a reason, I'm more loving, caring and more peaceful then I have ever been. Spent years in the desert, finding myself, and learning to love myself and respect myself. I am so grateful.

Yahwism? TF are you even saying. No offence but people like you need to stay far far away from theology and religion. yhwh is a name that existed since exodus and even before that, translated from ancient Hebrew literally means "behold thy nail behold thy hand" a name that prophecied Jesus since the beginning of Zoroastrianism. At my time of need in my life when I layed injured and abandoned I had one request granted to me by a presence that loomed over my body. I asked why my rest had been disturbed and the response was infuriating, respect thy father and thy mother. I had no interest in bargaining with outside forces yet the presence remained. The conversation eventually lead to a forced confession, my heart responded and I was granted a sweet depiction of the story of a flood and the reason why my request was the description of love.

Dearest Dr. Justin: Here in Mexico we have the prehispanic legacy of worshiping the angel of death. I, my self have a beautiful collection of art regarding this feature. Both prehispanic and modern. Most worshipers of the Santa Muerte have a doctrine similar to that of the Sabateans. Shabtai Tzvi sustaind that enlightenment would be achieved thru sin an inmoral conducts. Here, the cult of the Santa Muerte has the goal of being awarded in life with terrenial pleasures such as economic wealth, social acceptance and respect. That is, in it's inner core. For, new sects of drug dealers take it to the highest level of violence and social degradation. Any ways... others (the fewer) like me, preserve this cult sincretized with cristianity as a way of showing the Angel of death that he is welcome to proceed when ever the supreme wills it. For that, the good deads have to be practiced every day so that, when the time of being slayn by the obsidian fire, we can turn around and celebrate a life of righteusness and compation. Never expecting compation from the angel of death, for the pain of the obsidians fire is the only purification way for trancsending.

Loved the +1 thunderbolt vs Yahwism. I was interested in this video because my Patron God (Gwyn ap Nudd) is, as I experience Him, a Divine Psychopomp / Lord of the Dead, and it's neat to see other ideas of death-associated beings, or Death personified as it were. (One of my favorite is Death from the Sandman.) One interesting thing that myself and other modern devotees of Gwyn have found, is that He's rather invested in keeping people *alive*--He's saved my life, and others have said similarly--and also, very much shows a sense of humor. (One of the ways I see Him is almost exactly looking and acting like Jareth from Labyrinth, and I'm not certain that film wasn't Divinely inspired. XD) As a godspouse (kind of like a Pagan nun? but gender neutral and not celibate necessarily), I have a rather close relationship with Gwyn, and He's taken a big role in helping me rebuild my life after recent low periods, and reach the place I want to be. It could be considered rather interesting that a Death God not only seems to be saving people, but also (in my case, and others I've heard from) leading them towards a much healthier and happier quality of life. So, hearing that the Angel is said to sometimes teach people how to avoid them, and also to have a sense of humor at times, was really fascinating! If they ever start giving advice on doing your taxes or learning a new language though, that would be really something.
