The interesting this is how much subtle self-reporting these responses contain. I like when my gf makes me a meal, I like being a provider, I like femininity period...They are associating certain acts with being a woman without ever interrogating their emotional association between them. WHY do you feel like it's "traditional" when your wife/gf cooks for you? WHY does being a provider mean being masculine to you? These people tend to be so invested in their own logical masculine intellect, but cannot work their way down the ladder far enough to see that "have a job" and "cook food" are genderless behaviors that we have assigned special, contextual meaning to as a society. And the last one, liking "femininity", is the most questionable of all. You like...what? A subjective jumble of behaviors accrued over hundreds of years, developed in societies that barely resemble ours anymore? I might as well say yeah, I like a MASCULINE man. If you aren't going out with a spear to spend weeks pursuit hunting mammoths, I don't want you. Not saying women don’t also act shitty about height as well although I don’t have those preferences I understand if you have a type and you’re just not attracted to certain people but there’s no need to make fun of peoples bodies in any way. Also some one can like you but not be ready or want to be in a relationship and there’s nothing wrong with having casual things with people you know won’t go anywhere bc you don’t want it to People will have a few weird experiences with another gender and find others online that say they can relate and use that as evidence to generalize hundreds of thousands of people they’ve never met - thus ruining their chance of having positive experiences in the future and dragging themselves deeper into their stinky delusions

besides the wording, i think the "hold yourself to the same standards as your potential *date" is fairly good advice. its not even a gender thing how often times people want more than theyre willing to put into a relationship. you shouldnt go into a relationship with the mindset of "they need to earn x amount of money and be movie star attractive and be willing to do whatever i want at the drop of a hat" while at the same time not wanting to provide anything in return. even pets provide entertainment, comfort, and love in return for you caring for them.

i hate living in a gendered society. having any scenario in which a society divides people into two boxes is set up for disaster from the getgo, because the two groups can never live equally. each group will have people that feel somewhere in between the groups internally but feel pressured to conform one way or another. each group will also have people that feel superior to the other group simply because of the group that they’re in and will take actions against the other group to prove this alleged superiority. this leads to assumed behaviors of either group that leave members of either group feeling ostracized, etc etc. whether it’s non-chosen groups, like the gender identity attached to your birth sex, or something you decide like which political party to follow.

to be perfectly clear, people do have an innate sense of gender that is internal and exists outside social norms. I think, since they're not normally forced to confront it, cis people don't tend to notice it in themselves. the only way I can describe it is that gender dysphoria is like a very very amplified version of if you've ever been called by a nickname you hated and crawled out of your skin whenever it was said. gender euphoria is like a very amplified version of getting a haircut that makes you feel inherently more like yourself. it may take a long time for a trans person to connect these feelings to our gender and that's why it's so hard to describe and understand- often it takes several years just to pinpoint and identify within one's self. it is, in a sense, almost like synesthesia. very hard to grasp from an outside perspective but internally you just *know* some things for a fact. edit to clarify, but this specifically includes nonbinary genders as well. i know enby people reading this will probably not question that, but i want to be very clear.

I can’t stand the way ask Reddit always insists on making the questions heteronormative for no damn reason. It’s always “women of reddit, what made you wanna divorce your husband” or “men of Reddit, what made you think yep I’m gonna marry this girl”. Like why is that necessary? It’s dumb and excludes people for literally no reason.

You’re consumers by nature you don’t build and need men for survival. You aren’t even chaste and you’re half naked online. Every female subreddit is delusional

I feel I accidentally pioneered the birthday week over 20 years ago. Boys got big gifts, girls got food out. I argued if the whole family wasn't there, it didn't count. Turned a birthday dinner into about 10 meals out.

"who has a birthday week" I'm just sitting here, as a person whose family each has a birthweek celebration. My mum, my sister, my brother, me...

Something I’ve noticed online when dudes complain about dating it’s always how “I didn’t get to hit” Like dawg just get to know them and treat them as a human being I cringe at my past self and how cringey I was

If you aren't getting the "woman from your dreams", it is 100% a you issue, not societal. Adjust your expectations and/or be a better human. No one owes you anything...and that shouldn't upset you. Know what isn't "manly"? Whining about never getting laid, taking no personal accountability, and blaming it on the "prey" you lust after.

I have a feeling that the guy at 5:23 got turned down by a Chilli's server, but I doubt it was because he wasn't a doctor or a lawyer.

In the west, 'mate' is typically associated with platonic compatriots who you would drive for after a drink in the pub. But something tells me these guys weren't using it that way.

On gender roles: one thought I had right after I came out as a trans man, is "I can be a truck driver now." I immediately wondered why that thought even popped up in my mind, considering I've never wanted to be a truck driver, and I can't even drive a car. And I could already be a truck driver if I wanted to, but society had made me feel like that just isn't an option for women. So you're absolutely right about gender roles informing the choices people feel like they're allowed to make. I'm sure there's plenty of women who love doing hard labour, and personally, as a man, I love being nurturing and creative, and I'm a full time single dad who crochets a lot in his free time.

Why birthday weeks are awesome af: - everyone can celebrate them - in dark times, we need more reasons to celebrate - because birthdays can be ruined by accidents, fights, abusive family members, etc... and you deserve to be happy - it is nice to celebrate the existence of someone else - it doesn't mean you need to be selfish and make a whole week about you. - because why do people care about others doing what brings them a little joy? The world can be hard enough. I started doing this in an abusive situation where I couldn't leave. I didn't want that day taken away from me by my abusers. So it became a week so I could actually feel some happiness. Let people feel happiness, guys 🤷♀️

i think a lot of this stems from a misunderstanding--or perhaps a lot of misunderstandings..? on both sides.
