I don't understand why Hans was reacting like this at Petrov's defense as Nepo has been playing this opening for a very long time. Even if you don't like the opening, it doesn't justify this childish behaviour. Hans has been doing some amazing things but this wasn't called for.

Relax, you're overreacting more than he did. He literally just laughed because Ian is playing like a pssy playing that opening because he's scared of a fight on the board. That's why he had that reaction. It's like you show up to mma cage and your opponent says, "draw?" Sure it's legal, because being a pssy is not against the rules. But no one likes a pssy is the point.

@@raindabz You’d think so, yes, but it is only very recently that players began trying to force more wins. When Kasparov and those guys were champs we’d have twice as many draws as wins. He's arrogant, petulant, ill-tempered, and cocky well beyond his actual accomplishments. With all that being said, most chess players do respect his game. The only reason this whole cheating thing blew up was because Magnus had a temper tantrum when he lost to him otb. Hans cheated when he was a kid online, but nobody cared until Magnus lost to him otb and had an ego meltdown. And since then Magnus has lost to even lower rated players than Hans in classical. Maybe Hans feels like the upper echelon players are denying him serious, more challenging matches and playing bringing dead end lines that lead to draws from which neither player can learn much but especially Hans who hungers for that knowledge and those real creative matches.

Hans was thinking because others think he’s weak they should take chances to beat him, but he’s not a weak player, so an easy draw with Black is fine. His thinking/response was odd.

Nepo is pretty much saying, if you don't win or draw when I move to the Russian from a Scotch prep, then... he's also saying the best he can do is draw, which is why I think the conversation to start was terse...it was: are you refusing or unaware?.... also, knowing that Niemann is a narcissist, he was trying to rope in the psychological distraction by attracting attention. Not classy, but i think the gloves are off with Niemann now.

I am a Magnus fanboy but I am starting liking Hans more and more. He never hides and he never plays drawish lines. Indeed he cheated in the past and actually nobody has to prove it, he said it himself. Carlsen, the mozart of chess, should start showing up, handshake the man and shake it off, because it looks bad and childish.
