I remember in the 60s when Bobby Baun was playing for the Leafs. It was game 6 of the Stanley Cup and towards the end of the 3rd period, he stopped a slapshot on his ankle. He was carried off the ice on a stretcher. He refused x-rays and insisted that they freeze his ankle. He returned for the overtime period and scored the winning goal. They then determined that his ankle was broken. The Leafs then went on to win the 7th game and the Stanley Cup. There are some videos out there where during games in both the US and Canada, when technical problems prevented the singers from singing the other country's national anthem, the crowds step up and sing for them. Very heart warming.

A former LA Kings season ticket holder for several years here before I left SoCal for Texas last year. IMO, hockey is the greatest spectator sport to attend. The game atmosphere is awesome and to see what those athletes can do on those blades is astounding. My wife and I plan on going to see the Kings play Dallas when they come to Texas.

I used to go down to the Garden and watch Bobby Orr. During those days players didn't wear helmets and the fights were brutal. I saw Bobby Orr get into a fight with a player who bragged that he had a Black Belt and Bobby beat the crap out of him. One time I saw the Bruins and Islanders in a brawl that lasted for over an hour. Every player was on the ice fighting. Even the goal tenders and backup goal tenders were fighting each other.

You should definitely watch more of Pavel Datsyuk. The things he did with the puck was just amazing. While he wasnt the greatest goalscorer or passer, imo he was for sure the greatest entertainer atleast in the last 20 or so years.

@@AgenteusaRR there have been some players before aswell that really brought some extra flare but only one i would compare to Datsyuk and that would be Sergei Makarov he like Datsyuk also danced with the puck. @pickboaa Well ok my point was Datsyuk was the best technical player i ever saw, still think scoring goes to Gretzky. And yes now I remember Larionov, Ive mistaken him for the LA Kings defender that was also Russian and I can't remember his name late 90',s early 2000's , you probably know who i mean. I'm not american or Canadian, I watched whenever I could and its broadcasted here in Europe, I remember Shanahan, still remember Hull, Lindros,Kronwall, Chelios, Chara, i still remember them but i didnt watch on a regular basis, one of the most talented when i watched was Jaromir Jagr, was czech (back then) i believe...

As a former goalie I greatly appreciate the call outs in regards to being the last line of defense but especially in regards to all the gear one has to wear(to be safe and even then sometimes it breaks or cracks with the cups, helmets etc. thankfully those events rarely happen)and still have the agility to make saves, occasionally of the spectacular variety as shown in this video. Much love 🩵 from Canada 🇨🇦🏒

Hockey's awesome. I grew up a beach rat in SoCal and did not care about hockey at all. Until I attended UCLA and my dorm friends were into it and got me into it. We ended up playing street hockey on the parking garages at least once a week and when I moved back home found out even my little SoCal region city had street pickup games in rinks that I didn't even know existed. Learning to play on roller blades translated to ice pretty well so I can bust out the ice skating skills and surprise friends from time to time.

Okay, I got an old school one for you, and perhaps one of the most fantastically insane moments in hockey! 1979 the entire Boston Bruins team climbs over the glass into the stands in full uniform, skates and all, and Mike Milbury beats the sh*t out of a guy with his own shoe! It's hilarious and bad-a$$ all at the same time! Please check it out! The full clip is about 3 1/2 minutes.

LOL, I've watched that a few times. Old time hockey was definitely different than todays game. No one wanted to mess with Philly nor Boston back in the 70's, then again each team shored up their physical aggression for a few years because of these teams. Not a single team didn't have at least a couple of enforcers.

The Dallas Stanley Cup game you mentioned was one of my greatest hockey memories. I had an evening game the night of that game and we decided to stay and play pickup hockey after the game. It was about 15 guys playing hockey for 5+ hours in an empty rink with the Stanley Cup playing live over the sound system.

Yes, the greatest game. Started playing goalie, at age 6, in 1965 in Montreal, the most storied hockey town. Played for 40 years. I've been a fan of many sports through my life, but I only watch hockey now. It has everything other sports offer, but no other sports offer it "all" like hockey does. They are also the best dressed athletes in the world, and damn good looking! Real men.

I hurt my knee when I was 18 pretty much ended the dream but I still played men's rec from 25 till 38 so had a good run. I played either wing it is such a great game. My dad had season tickets to the Atlanta Flames before they moved to Calgary and we went to all of them. Eventually we got a farm league team called the Atlanta Knights and we won the Turner Cup one year and I was lucky enough to see that. Then we got the Atlanta Thrashers and i bought season tickets every year only to lose them to Winnipeg. I moved to Boston and buy season tickets to the Bruins. Hope my presence isn't bad luck to them, but i was at all the playoff games where we BLEW IT last year!!! Great job and thanks to you fellow fans!!!

Yeah I wish there was some older stuff as well, I guess maybe he wanted the entire vid to be in HD maybe? Idk was trying to think of a justification. And yeah the Stanley Cup goals were iconic but there's a ton of more memorable ones I can think of. One of my favs is the Marek Malik between the legs goal because of the story of that one leading up to it. Also the Thornton v. Benn fight is one of the bests I've seen. As a SJS fan and one of my best friends is a huge Stars fan. Seeing two captains dish it out.

Hockey is the hardest major game in North America specially here in Canada 🇨🇦 the roots of hockey came from Canada always prevailed over Russia, USA both specially mens either junior senior or Olympic. Even today fighting is allowed on Hockey and is the only sports that’s legitimately. Wayne Gretzky record will never be broken on this’ll lifetime. Because the goalies are bigger and flexible, the net is now smaller from before 😂

Just came across this reaction, but this video tends to cater to people who aren't very familiar with aspects of the game. The clips selected are more recent for the quality and number of angles, shot blocks and the like that are and obvious, but aren't with the trainer and blocker trying to match the missing number of teeth versus how many they've found already. It's not easy to find too much footage before Jagr and you end up with a shitload of moaning about why Bobby Orrs lying goal isn't even HD. If someone's not already using AI to upscale and bump the good ones to 60fps some of the people doing it for corn could do a little community service for great sports moments.

Unfortunate that this video was recommended to you. Hockey needs to be seen at full speed and for the totality of the given play. Just showing the last part in slow-mo is fine, I guess, but doesn't give any real feel for how fast and spectacular the game is.
