what do you think about the 1080ti? should i choose that over a rx 6600?

Honestly, if they are at the same price I would for sure. The 1080Ti having the extra VRAM will actually make quite the difference in today's games, that being said VRAM doesn't equal better perf but it sure does help as games become more hungry. The only thing is the 1080Ti would use up quite a bit more power so be sure to keep that in mind.

Save a little more and go for the rx 6800 Non xt for about 50 dollars more than what both those cards are selling for the 6800 has about the same tdp as the 1080 ti and is half the age and is only going to get better as the drivers continue to mature and with the 192bit memory bandwidth it isn't as bad of bottleneck on older systems as most the newer gpu's
