Okay, I am a beef loving Texas girl, no doubt about it. However, never in my life have I been even slightly attracted to beef pot pies, or even chicken ones... but turkey...YES! With that said, this video absolutely enthralled me. I was salivating all the way through and now I am craving one. You made it look delicious and inviting and by the time it baked, it was absolutely gorgeous and alluring! I am up for a beef pot pie now... homemade. The only thing I would possibly change is to add mushrooms. Brilliant! Great job both Eric and Amy {:-))

Thank you Mae. Glad I could make a convert out of you. LOL!!! Yeah, these things turned out pretty good. Dunno if you saw my chunky beef stew video yet. That features the missing part (POTATOES and BIG hunks of beef. Three pound beef recipe!!!) For more beef, there's my 7 pound cheese burger video. Then I have the Panini ribeye sandwiches. Get your saliva ready if you haven't watched those yet. LOL!!!!!

@EricLearnstoCook7 жыл бұрын
Thank you Sherri, glad it was helpful for you. Yeah, I wanted to show how to cook the recipe, but also show how to use the cooker since many people don't show the details of how it works. Yeah, you can cook up a big beef pie. I did a different video doing beef stew. Forgot if it was on the IP or the Cosori, but they are almost identical. Watch that one too if you want to make a beef stew. Once again, thanks for watching.

@EricLearnstoCook7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and the complement. I'm glad you like this. Yes, I would treat this like a beef stew recipe. I only suggested smaller pieces because of the individual pies are kinda small. If you are baking in a larger container, then regular stew size should work. I was only nervous a bit in that Amy did not help me film, except for her small part. I always like a second set of eyes on the camera to make sure I don't goof. I'd hate to have it all cooked and find out I forgot to turn on the second (close-up_) camera, like I did when I made the huge oatmeal cookies :-( Amy's fine. We filmed this a few weeks back during our Christmas break. I just didn't have time to edit it. I appreciate your words. I had only used this Instant Pot once before with this recipe (the trial run was equally tasty), but I wanted to convey on camera that it works well. I usually use a heavy pan to cook my stew meat, so the pressure cooker was an interesting change. If not being accused of TMI, Amy and her mom beat me once at a chili cook-off because I used a different pressure cooker. I had NO IDEA that this meat cooks so fast. I think I ran it for like an hour or more and scorched it so bad, it was horrible. I came in last. Only good thing was, that I had some tasty beer, so I didn't care too much about what the poor judges had to eat :-) LOL!!! Amy's fine. She wasn't feeling good for a few days on our break. She's back to her normal self. Please let us know how it turns out for you.

I couldn't imagine desiring any pot pie at all...but given it is you two I wanted to watch....I loved every moment-I so want to do this ! I just love that I'm going to be able to accomplish this...I shared in another video when making muffin meatloaf(s) I was going to give them to an uncle a good distance away(Hospice) & they were so successful & such a surprise, I'm going to do the same with this...can I freeze them? You two are a winning combination in every way...cannot put into words how good I feel when watching any of your videos...and afterwards...I learn so much...I laugh often at you Eric & your comments...you're an entertainer...and Amy...well...she's just got a permanent place right here in our home...we love visiting with her...well it's almost like a real visit... Here's to you both ! Thanks for everything.
@EricLearnstoCook7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoy our videos and even give the recipes a try. Thanks for letting us know about the muffin meatloaf. I don't know why you couldn't freeze them. Just do your best to get rid of the air if not using a food saver. If using Ziplock bags, maybe cover in freezer paper or just make sure to not leave them in there too long. Glad you watch us for entertainment as well. My biggest concern is that if people ONLY watch for watching, then it doesn't matter how the food turns out, right? But if one person actually dared to try the recipe, then it had better work or else it's not going to be pleasant. So we do our best to teach and show how to cook so anyone can do it. Thank you for all the kind words. You are very kind and thoughtful. We definitely appreciate that. Glad I inspired you to try the pot pie. It is very tasty and has a fraction of the chemicals the Banquet TV dinner ones have. LOL!!! We have a lot of videos on the way. Just need to get them edited and uploaded.

Thanks for subbing. It's amazing what you can cook in a pressure cooker for say, 20 or 30 minutes under pressure. I have this video and the beef stew video. Most Aroma pressure cookers are also multi-cookers like the Insta Pot and the Cosori. So you can brown your meat in the cooker to save on dirtying a pan, or do it in the pan and save time. Up to you. Stew meat cooks fast. Chicken cooks fast. Really amazing. We made chicken bone stock in one of these. Saves a ton of time. Cook something and let us know how it goes.

I think I'll make chicken pot pies this week and beef pot pies next week, with pie crust from scratch. I've never liked store bought pot pies, although I've eaten them often. I made Hummingbird cake and sweet potato cornbread in silicone cake/loaf pans I recently bought because I like the idea of smaller cakes, smaller meatloaf, etc. Really looking forward to using them for pot pies, even though I have small springform pans. @EricLearnstoCook6 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching. You can use either one, but I think cornstarch is a little more powerful in absorbing the liquid, thus takes a little less. But when making gravy, I'll use either one. For those that are gluten intolerant, they would prefer cornstarch.

How's is this different then a normal pressure cooker?
@EricLearnstoCook7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, we appreciate it. I'm not sure what a "normal" pressure cooker is. There are stovetop models that have less safety features going all the way back to the ones my mom used years ago that have simple weights on the vent. You control the pressure by adjusting the stove burner temp. The electric ones adjust automatically so all you do is tell it how hot and how long and it takes care of the rest. They all feature interlocks keeping the lid from flying off (and preventing you) from removing the lid unless you manually defeat the device. That's about all I can think of. Does that help?
@sussanalee4307 жыл бұрын
Is everything supposed to be so overcooked and soggy? Do the vegs still crunch and retain their nutrients? Sorry if I am used to fresh quick tasty stir-fry
@EricLearnstoCook7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. In your case, you may want to cook the meat under pressure and add the veggies at the end like we do with the peas. That way your veggies are still raw like you like them. For people that usually cook their veggies, they can add them like I did, and they'll turn out fine. See my chunky beef stew for an alternate way to cook the veggies. Thanks.

Oh man, those looked awesome. I love pot pies but I'm not to fond of the ones you buy in the stores. Could you tell me what brand of piecrust you used? The reason I ask is because I bought Pillsbury pie crust one time to make a pot pie and it turned out looking great. I let it cool and put one on my plate and took a big bite of it and I was like whoa, something is way off. Then it dawned in me that it was sweet, I'm like what the hell? So get the piecrust box and start reading the ingredients and there is sugar in the crust. It just really ruined my pot pies. I'm 61 years old and I don't recall ever seeing my mom, or any of my aunts or my grannies use sugar in a pie crust. Maybe some people do, but no one in my family ever did.
@EricLearnstoCook7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I honestly can't tell you. Our supermarket sells a name brand, probably Pillsbury, and a store brand. I've used the name brand. I don't recall any sweetness from sugar, but will have to look the next time I'm in that aisle.

Thanks for watching. Amy's in negotiations right now to get a pressure cooker for review purposes. So we'll see how that turns out. Eric, can you pressure fry with the instant pot?
@AmyLearnsToCook7 жыл бұрын
+julee nave You definitely do not want to deep fry in a pressure cooker. It is only done in a commercial pressure fryer that has a heavy latched lid and is built for pressure frying. They are very expensive. Deep frying in a home pressure cooker is dangerous.

If you want so.etging to brown, don't stir it. Let it set until it is brown and flip it over

Also the store bought ones break apart every time yo remove them from the container.
@EricLearnstoCook7 жыл бұрын
Yup and then makes a mess once it bakes and leaks everywhere. Thanks for watching. How have you been David?
@davidbennett607 жыл бұрын
Oh, can't complain. Just made a couple of Samosas that turned out ok. The yoghurt, mint, onion and feta mixed to ones taste was just good enough to eat by itself, but I digress. Will definitely try the pot pie as soon as I get those pans that come apart.

OH>>>MY>>>GOSH!!!! I was wondering when Amy and Eric were going to get an IP!!!
@msdemeanorscott18557 жыл бұрын
I'll bet they've had it for a while and she just found it in the pan room putting away her Christmas goodies.
@EricLearnstoCook7 жыл бұрын
She's had it for a while. But while Mardie's response is hilarious, it isn't quite true. Amy did KNOW where the IP was. She just couldn't get to it. LOL!!! I think we've used it a few times. It is really nice once you figure it out, which wasn't too hard, even for me.
@AmyLearnsToCook7 жыл бұрын
Yeah..I've had it for a while. We did a video about a year ago using it to make turkey stock. I am just starting to use it. Do you have one Sharon?
@sharonlatour62307 жыл бұрын
Yes I do, but i've not used it yet. I'm going to soon!

Thanks for watching. I don't think we'd still have 3 pies after 10 minutes. :-) Might have to fight you for them. LOL!!!

@EricLearnstoCook7 жыл бұрын
How to cook white eggs? boil, scramble, poach, fry, bake? What do you want to use them in or for what? Amy did a scrambled egg video and showed how to boil/steam eggs so the shells come off easy.

Potatoes??? Gotta have potatoes in my beef pot pie.
@EricLearnstoCook7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Yeah, this is basically a small version of beef stew. I've already come to my senses. :-) When I do my beef stew video, I'll use big chunks of beef and potatoes!
@andrewcullen86357 жыл бұрын
Not a Pot Pie. That is a Pie. Pot Pies do not have a Pastry Bottom. That is why they are made in a Pot not a sprung loaded baking tin. The Beef mixture goes straight into the Pot/Pan The Pastry lid is fitted then it is cooked. (Most often in individual Pots and served to the person in it). You can make bigger ones but they still should not have a Pastry Bottom. Nice looking Pie though
@EricLearnstoCook7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I have never eaten a single crust as you have mentioned, but you are correct as they can be baked in individual ramkins. I did a regular beef pie after this as these look like mini versions of the bigger pie.

I have never not eaten a pot pie without a bottom in pie form. You must be special.
