Making your own caramel sauce is super easy! And once you try it, you'll never go back to the bottled variety. This super easy recipe requires just six ingredients and it's perfect for drizzling over coffee drinks, cakes and desserts. For a thicker caramel to use in frosting, simply refrigerate the sauce overnight!

Just made this 😍 this went perfectly over your maple pecan cheesecake recipe! We used the leftovers for the ice cream topping and in our boozy drinks. For anyone ready, serve after the 5 minute cool down. It’s velvety ❤️

This is far by the BEST caramel sauce I’ve ever made!!!!! You just need to follow instructions and muah. I’ve made it twice thus far and it sets perfectly in the fridge. Previous recipes I’ve tried the caramel would be too runny even after being put in the fridge. I LOVE THIS RECIPE!❤️❤️❤️💋

I made this last night and it was a fabulous success 🙂 we are having with our lattes right now. All I have is the light brown cane sugar. The only difference was that the recipe came together much faster but still worked. Thank you Tatyana ☺️❤️

Just tried this caramel 😩it’s sooooooo good 🤤I can’t stop licking my spoon omg... my caramel did crystalize before browning (because I stirred it at the beginning 🤭) but I went in with my whisk and beat it all together and left it to brown more. It was silky smooth after and oh so tasty 😋 thank you so much for the recipe... new subbie 🍀

i just made your caramel sauce rn. the first time my sugur burned, so i tried again and it came out amazingggg the second timeee its coooling rn it tastes sooo gooodd. the only thing i would chand=ge for next time is that istead of putting 1 and half tsp of vanilla extract ill put 1. thank uu

Took me 3 tries to make this, I had the heat too low and the water was evaporating before the sugar caramelized. After I figured that out this was easy and delicious!

Hello Tatyana, I have watched your videos for along time now. I love everyone of them.. I have watched the video a bunch of times and today just now I made it.. Turns out better then someone else's did.. Thanks for the video and the recipe and this recipe is a keeper. As my husband Rex says. We have a home bakery and these videos come in handy on here and I add things to make it my own of course. you are so beautiful and your hair is gorgeous and my hair was that long and now I have to keep it a crew cut because of massive headaches.. but that's ok I wear a wig. love you girl keep the videos and recipes coming.

It's just slightly different - butterscotch sauce is made with brown sugar and a lot more butter :)

QUESTION, Tay, what's the difference between caramel and toffee, and is it the same thing. me and my sister loved eating cracker Jack when we were younger , way younger!😊.i still love eating this popcorn and have it gor movie night when i want something sweet.

Hi! Toffee is usually hard and crispy. The sugar is cooked for longer and less butter is added, which makes the sugar harden.

After the sugar turned amber did you turn off the heat then you add the butter and cream. If not do I need to simmer or boil the cream?

I like to remove the syrup from the heat when I'm adding the butter and cream, but then you can return it to the stove to melt the butter completely.

Hi! Yes, heavy cream and heavy whipping cream are the same. You can add walnuts after the caramel has cooled :)

Looks yummy! I know you said it can be used either at room temp. or chilled, but how would you store it? I'm guessing in the fridge, since there's cream in it??

You can keep it at room temp for up to a week since the cream gets boiled and caramelized. It will keep much longer in the fridge :)

It all depends on how long you cook the sugar syrup. For a lighter caramel, cook until just golden

It will stand well for a few weeks, even up to month. Just keep it well covered :)

I personally haven't tried this recipe with brown sugar. It is more likely to burn before it reaches a high temperature.

i tried this recipe with whole milk and margarine and it turns out good. but why does the margarine and the caramel cant blended well? when i pour it on my jar, theres one layer of melted margarine on it and when i freeze it, theres 1 layer of frozen margarine, is it because i added more two tablespoon of margarine? but its not really disturb my caramel anyways, overall its goodd haha thankss sorry for my bad english haha

Hi! I never use margarine for dessert recipes because it acts a little differently than butter. Because it's not a real dairy product, it won't combine with the sugar like real butter would.

Great recipe! But im having one problem.... When i just made my caramel and pour in into a clean jar, my caramel starts get have some air bubbles.. its gets a bit bubbly and even after 2/3 days i tried a spoon of it and it feels like i was chewing on sand. How do i maintain a good caramel without getting bubbly? Or with air bubbles. theres something im doing wrong ?

Hi! that's not good! sounds like you got some uncaramelized sugar mixed into the sauce. Once you add the sugar into the saucepan, do not stir it at all. When it's stirred, the sugar will settle on the sides of the pan, leaving unmelted granules in the caramel sauce. Hope that helps!

Hi! Try placing the caramel into the refrigerator to let it thicken. You can also reduce the amount of butter in half. Enjoy! :)

Hi! Yes, you do need to add the heavy cream, otherwise the caramel will harden. I haven't tried this with milk but that might work?

does the recipe use salted or unsalted butter? I only have unsalted butter, so if it calls for salted butter, how much extra salt should I put?? thanks

Hi! This recipe uses unsalted butter - I prefer to use unsalted, that way you can adjust to your taste :)
