Eliza's got a super collection of fishes. Love her enthusiasm and her honesty. We all have our failures. She definitely has more success than failures. BTW, Nick, adding salt does not raise the hardness, only the conductivity.
@k2ggers9614 ай бұрын
salt and other dissolved minerals certainly do increase water hardness in the density sense, not the pH sense though

After your last tour with Elyza, I was inspired to buy myself a 2 ft tank and create a natural river style scape. I'm now waiting for it to mature and letting the plants grow in a little. I'm hoping to buy some native nano fish from Elyza and yourself soon. Just have to decide which ones.... OK, Now I think I might need to set up another tank for some Shell Dwellers.

I keep my cpds at 75f. I have 2 males and 3 females in a 10 gallon tank. I have an air lift system as well. Every 2 or three days I'll get anywhere from 20 to 40 eggs but I'm having trouble with hatch rate. Only around 10 percent will hatch. I'm going to put Indian almond leaves in with the eggs like u guys showed to c if it helps. I feed live bbs every other day religiously and I've found if I keep the lights as low as possible and keep a lot of top water floating plants the fish r more willing to breed

Thanks guys so much for the breakdown on grindal worms. My fish club sometimes has free cultures but mine always crash after a few months so I'll be switching up from dirt + sponge to the peat and plastic screen method. Here's to hoping I can keep a culture going for 3+ months with this method.😂✌️

Have to ask, since I love(!) my Pseudomugil luminatus... I haven't managed to get mine to spawn. I think that i have too many males compared to females. Because the males show off a lot and everyone seem happy. They live in a 54L with a lot of plants, perfect water parameters and so on. But no eggs or fry :( Is there any other Pseudomugil that's easier? I live really on the other side of the planet, in Sweden, far up north in Europe, and the luminatus are difficult to find and expensive as well, so I really wanted to get more from the ones I bought...
@CyrilleTremblay-f2d10 ай бұрын
@NinniAquariums P.luminatus are notorious for eating their own eggs and preying on their fry. A trick I will try, learned from Fish E-Z, is to put only one female with 2 males (sounds counter intuitive, but …) When you have 2 or more females, while one is going in the mop to spawn, others will follow to gobble the eggs. 2 males will sparr, but are more interested in breeding than in eating the eggs. As soon as the female approches the mop, the males will drive her to lay or she will go away. That way, females enter the mop escorted to lay but will probably stay away when not ready to lay, not eating their eggs. I guess I will use a 5 gallons to hold 2 males and a breeding mop and put a conditioned female and a fresh mop daily. 🤔 I will keep my females in a 10 gallons, with tons of livefood and play musical fish from the 10 the the spawning tank. 😊
@NinniAquariums10 ай бұрын
@@CyrilleTremblay-f2d Yeah... I've heard that too... It feels so sad just having three of them together though. I guess I will give it a try, because now I only have two females left and not that many males.
