Johan Jonatan "Jussi" Björling was a Swedish tenor. One of the leading operatic singers of the 20th century, Björling appeared for many years at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City and less frequently at the major European opera houses, including the Royal Opera House in London and La Scala in Milan. He sang the Italian, French and Russian opera repertory with taste.
Mario Lanza was an American tenor, actor, and Hollywood film star of the late 1940s and the 1950s of Italian descent. Lanza began studying to be a professional singer at the age of 16. After appearing at the Hollywood Bowl in 1947, Lanza signed a seven-year film contract with Louis B. Mayer, the head of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, who saw his performance and was impressed by his singing. Prior to that, the adult Lanza sang only two performances of an opera. The following year (1948), however, he sang the role of Pinkerton in Puccini's Madame Butterfly in New Orleans. His film debut for MGM was in That Midnight Kiss (1949) with Kathryn Grayson and Ethel Barrymore. A year later, in The Toast of New Orleans, his featured popular song "Be My Love" became his first million-selling hit. In 1951, he played the role of tenor Enrico Caruso, his idol, in the biopic The Great Caruso, which produced another million-seller with "The Loveliest Night of the Year" (a song which used the melody of Sobre las Olas).
Beniamino Gigli was an Italian opera singer. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest tenors of his generation. Early in his career, Gigli was known for a beautiful, soft and honey-like lyric voice, with incredible mezza-voice, allowing him to sing light, lyrical roles. As he grew older, his voice developed some dramatic qualities, enabling him to sing heavier roles like Ràdames in Aida and Cavaradossi in Tosca. Some critics say that he was overemotional during his performances, often resolving to sobbing and, in some cases, exaggerations.

I am so pleased you included Mario Lanza in your choices of the most beautiful opera arias. His most wonderful , crystalline voice only made these arias more beautiful. No one with his caliber as far as voice is concerned. My all time interpreter of any opera. His voice is pure pulcritude. It is the voice the just will be hearing in Heaven, I believe.

Amo la ópera.Ésa potencia creativa. Tan de reingrambre popular. Aunque ni idea el por qué parece ser, representativa y de gustos llamados, cultos, cultivados. Será por los precios de entradas supongo. El dinero todo ni ahí lo puede ,en gustos personales. En entrada a espectáculos artísticos obvio que sí.

Con lo que me gusta la ópera, y debo declararme ignorante, por evitar decir burra. Bueno piezas que en mi vida había escuchado. Otras obvio que sí. Pero la reflexión me vino cuando escuché que alguna se cantaba en francés y alguna otra en inglés. La verdad, de pura burra nomás. Yo siempre pensé que la ópera se cantaba solamente en italiano.

Obvio que siempre traducida al español. Mi lengua. Si no ni idea. Salvo piezas musicales , es decir sonido sin palabras o con imágenes tipo las películas. A mi me ponés el chiflido icónico y ya calzo manos en la cintura y te escupo tabaco decostado o me pones la suave lalala entre blancas nieves y ta me pongo sombrero y me abrigo y cosas asi.

Per carità, Lanza è stato un cantante dalla voce gradevole ma volerlo inserire tra i tenori, non dico grandi ma neanche tra i famosi è chiedere troppo. Senza una tecnica adegua, aiutato dai microfoni e aggiustato nelle sale di registrazioni, rimane comunque meno che mediocre. E poi quali opere ha cantato in teatro oltre le allegri comari. Un Bocelli degli anni cinquanta, però con una voce più calda squillante e comunicativa. La pubblicità fa il resto

Amo svisceratamente con tutto il cuore, l'opera è la musica classica, ma debbo dire con dispiacere, che questi interpreti non rendono giustizia, "scusate" ascoltate lucean le stelle, interpretata da Franco Corelli, oppure il Rigoletto interpretato da Pavarotti, bene li si eleva l'anima in paradiso.
