Dr Janine Bowring says she takes D3 in the morning together with magnesium (as D3 depletes magnesium) + some MCT oil. In the evening around bedtime she takes K2 (MK7 variant) because calcium absorption happens during sleep. The separate intake of both vitamins makes sense (one commenter added) because D3 and K2 compete for absorption. Dr Eric Berg says the best ratio of D3/K2 is 2.5 / 1

My mom was your patient for a few years, I would take her to her appointments. You were always so convincing and still are. I have to share something very interesting with you all. A few years ago, I kept on getting mouth sores that wouldn’t go away with anything I tried. For years I suffered. It wasn’t until I had my vitamin D levels were checked that my MD prescribed the once a week vitamin D supplement. After that, my sores went away, and my thinning hair started to fill in To this day, I take a minimum of 5000 units daily without skipping Otherwise, the mouth sores return, and that’s how I know that I’m low on my vitamin D again.

Not unimportant, what the doctor forgot to mention, is that people with a dark skin color have a natural UV-b filter due to the melanin in their skin, which makes it more difficult / slows down the production of vitamin D. The darker the skin color, the greater the risk of vitamin D deficiency. I take 10,000 IU of vitamin D per day from October to the end of March April through September 5,000 IU per day. Daily all year round vitamin K2mk7 200 µg - zinc 20 mg - vitamin B12 1,000 µg - and magnesium 155 mg. I live near Antwerp at about the same latitude (51° N) as London. Despite all the disclaimerese I found the worst thing one can do is ask an actually licensed doctor to give advice on this subject. Good luck getting any primary care physician to advise on the right combination of vitamin K2 d3 and magnesium. They don’t read studies and flippantly dismiss patients that do. There are exceptions, but I find my generalization is the rule I’ve been amazed at the number of studies, looking at auto immune diseases with a perfect, 45° angle, showing the correlation between vitamin D levels, and survival and getting diagnosed with a particular condition The upper limit seems close to what this video proposes. My lab tests showed no substantial traces of Vitamin D. I was put on 10,000 Units of a Vitamin D3 with K2 combo. Within 6 months, they did another Vitamin D test and found I had extremely high levels of Calcium in my blood and acceptable levels of Vitamin D. Due to worsening symptoms, further tests were done and have now shown a Parathyroid issue and I need surgery to remove a few nodules. I am told I can no longer take Vitamin D as it can be dangerous and this may now lead to bone issues for the rest of my life. Then another blood test, still low, so a script of an amount I can't find the bottle for, I remembered earlier and can't find the bottle but the directions on it were wrong. Anyway, I now have 200+ calcium in my blood, hyper something calcium, and I'm to take NO D3. They're ignoring the issue-especially the K2 factor. I don't know how to get this calcium out of my blood and apparently, neither do they - they ignore it and want a bone scan. I don't want to, but I have broken numerous bones over the last several years, and am weakened. Haven't been told of these issues you have. Do you have any potential info for me? Thanks.

Vitamin D may not be toxic by itself per se, but my understanding is that it can seriously drop your magnesium levels. Many nutritionists report that Vitamin D requires magnesium for proper utilization. A lot of people may have higher levels of Vitamin D in storage but not circulating in the blood serum preciously because they don't have the magnesium to manage it. So adding Vitamin D to a body that's not equipped to manage it can spell problems. that's why people get the palpitations and so forth from high Vitamin D usage. They probably have a magnesium deficiency brought about by Vitamin D usage. So I would recommend people take some magnesium, which is probably low in their diet anyway and a great thing to take anyway. Taking high magnesium can also cause issues, so there's a lot of things to consider to keep everything in balance. The Root Cause Protocol people are experts in this (formerly called the Magnesium Advocacy Group). New users of magnesium can have diarrhea and too much mag can cause potassium and sodium shortages, so you have to balance all that with adrenal cocktails if your magnesium gets too high and you have to start taking magnesium slowly so your body can adapt to it.

If I ignore this sign, my joint mobility all over my body starts to stiffen until I can hardly bend my arms and legs, and start walking like a robot, and I become depressed, with low energy. It took me a while to figure out what was going on, as the signs of lack of vitamin D are similar to the signs of excess, like depression and achy joints.

There is no evidence for any benefit from a blood serum D level over 100ng/ml. However, most people will be under 100 with a daily intake of 40,000 IU/day of vitamin D3. For me, a maintenance dosage of 11,000 IU/day will maintain a blood serum D level of 83mg/ml, while for my sister this same 11,000 IU of vitamin D3/day will maintain a blood serum D level just over 50ng/ml. Blood serum D tests are not expensive, but it is cheaper to blindly supplement with vitamin D3. The recommendation of 9600 IU/day is based on this fact. I have been tested several times and found that a maintenance dose of 5600 IU/day results in a consistent blood serum D level of 75ng/ml. My target level is between 75ng/ml and 80ng/ml, so I take one 5000 IU D3 plus 100 mcg K2 gel cap every day, and an extra one of these gel caps every other day. My advice is, if you don't want to pay for a blood test, take two of these gel caps per day for 4 months, then back off to one a day with one extra gel cap per day as a maintenance dosage. I get Upnourish Liposomal D3 with K2. It is currently $19.79 for 365 gel caps on Amazon. This is cheaper than a blood serum D test. For me, this is an 8 month supply.

My 15 year old daughter had blood work done last week. Her Vitamin D levels are EXTREMELY low. Like a 5.6, her pediatrician is recommending 1000iu's, but some how i don't think thats enough...however im not finding much info on teens. For reference, we're black, she doesn't spend a lot of time outdoors, shes 5'10 and 190lbs....i feel like she should be dosed like an adult.

I have just been diagnosed with Great Cell Arteritis and Polymyalgia Reumatica and my specialist prescribe 40 minutes of sun per day. Has to be during midday when the son is on its strongest. The epidemic of vitamin D deficiency is the cause of health nuts that went berserk about skin cancer and to cover up. Again a fad that cause more damage than good. I am in Africa
@Armenianshugah2 жыл бұрын
You are 1000% correct! As soon as I was urged to STOP going in the sun was when depression hit me like a freight truck. Unfortunately, it took me years to make this connection. Doctors know that Vitamin D deficiency is the culprit behind so many health issues … yet, patients still have to ask to have VITAMIN D levels tested with routine blood work. WHY???? This should be standard! If I don’t ask for it, they certainly don’t recommend it. BUT HERE IS THE BOTTOM LINE. DOCTORS DON’T MAKE MONEY IF THEIR PATIENTS ARE HEALTHY. AND NO “KICK BACKS” FOR THEM FROM BIG PHARMA IF THEY AREN’T PUSHING THOSE PRESCRIPTIONS, WHICH CREATE OTHER HEALTH ISSUES FOR EVERY ONE THEY “TREAT.” I SAID WHAT I SAID. MY FATHER WAS A PHARMACIST CHEMIST. I KNOW EVERYTHING THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT THEIR GREED AND THE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS THEY GENERATE WHILST MAKING US ALL SICK! I’VE BEEN MY OWN HEALTH ADVOCATE FOR A LONG TIME NOW, AND I FEEL BETTER THAN EVER.

Vitamin D isn't toxic but can hurt the kidneys if you keep taking supplement after supplment of vitamin D, your kidneys still work on supplements so its generally a good idea not to overdose but to take adquate 100% of RDA is different for each of us because of the size of our bodies, as a larger human my 100%RDA is gonna need more Vitamin -D to travel in my body than small size human.

The number of people who have absorption or conversion issues or have issues with their receptor maybe very high: Depending on the cut off and population, this may affect 25% of the people. Fun fact: the distribution is wide and there are also people who are very sensitive who will be fine with very low doses of Vit D. Patients with auto-immune diseases (as Gundry also suggests) probably need very high vit D doses to get an effect (and get Parathyroid hormone levels into the lower end of the recommended/normal range).
