Great question! I wondered this too when I first got it. My 7 day trial ended with the cloud storage so that stopped working, but yep it still lets me watch and download to my phone all the recordings I choose from the microSD card. Way better deal to just get a microSD card since they are so cheap and it's a one time thing.

So 2 questions.. The Amazon ad shows Android.. Does this app only work with Android phones? Second.. If you but multiple cameras how much does this impact the data usage on the home internet service?

Hey T. I recommend just buying Micro SD cards and not the Cloud Service. If you store all the recordings on the Micro SD card then you don't need to worry about the data usage as you only use wifi as a connection to view recordings and it doesn't actually use internet data. It works on both Android and Apple

Hey Jobita, sorry unfortunately it only records motion. You can set it up to be pretty sensitive though to where even a leaf will trigger the recording. I agree that would be the 1 thing that would make this security camera absolutely perfect

Great question Robert! No unfortunately it needs wifi to connect. Although it can record to the microSD card without needing to connect to the internet. You will just need to remove the SD card in order to review the recordings

It keeps asking me update the firmware to latest one ending 114 i think.. Have been downloading firmware file on app for 40 mins and it is still only about 1/4 of the way on downloading the file. Have you updated your firmware? What version are you on.. should it take this long? After this it still has to install it (wish i could just dload the file and put it on SD and update it that way)

Yeah for only 104 you could get a few of these and it wouldn't break the bank. The app will let you connect multiple cameras to it so you can view them all in one spot as well

Hey Troy, you need wifi just to view the video from your phone. If you get a memory card it will still store the motion recordings without wifi and you can remove the card to view them if you don't have wifi.

Hey Tomica, hmm that is really weird. Forgive me if you've already tried all of these solutions but they are the only things I could think of that could cause that.. -is there any dirt or scratches on the QR code? -possibly a new bug in the app (maybe see if there is a new update for the app) -are you connected to the internet when scanning the QR code? What error pops up when you try to scan it?

Just bought this on Amazon. Anybody know if this thing has a built in web server http interface? Wondering if a Chromebook with Android app support would connect with all the features? Also I know it says 128gb max, but any chance it can support more? wonder why they limit, it's not like the app should be loading the entire memory? I'm installing on remote property with a lot of trees and can only check it about once every few months.

Hey 12vLife that's a great question! I just checked mine and over the past 9 months it's only used 11GB of storage! I have the sensitivity settings all the way up and recording clip lengths set to the max as well so I definitely wouldn't worry about running out of space with that 128GB micro sd card. But to completely answer your question, no it cannot go any higher than 128GB

Would have been great for Off Grid .. BUT NOT.. Apparently no way can't connect to your phones hotspot? Seems a router is not enough either, must be a router with internet connection. Also though they have an android app, they won't let the app run on a Chromebook that runs Android apps. Also Most IP cameras host a web client, not this one.

Track down the squirrel that destroyed your nest cam and demand money from him. That wi-fi connection distance is insane and your voice carries very clearly with no muffling. Just a shame it doesn't record 24/7
