Update: On the 7th May, in a letter to Manchester United fans, Joel Glazer wrote: "We recognise that we will need to significantly increase investment in Old Trafford and our training complex to ensure that the club’s facilities remain among the best in Europe. As part of this, we will consult with fans on investments related to the stadium and the matchday experience."

Today Old Trafford is in a sorry state, a cramped ground with terrible facilities, only 3 seasons ago an elderly gentleman died after falling down the exit during a game against City, if you happen to be sat at the back of any of the 3 big stands, you have trouble seeing the whole pitch, especially the goal at the opposite end, in comparison to City's, Arsenal's & Tottenham's new grounds, it's decades behind.... A good 3rd of the stadium you couldn't see because the roof was hiding it. We were all shocked by how shabby the exterior of the stadium was also looking, rust and flaking paint on the white(ish) steel on the roof. There are far worse stadiums of course but this is Manchester United who like to call themselves the biggest club in the world, well if they are they really need to act like it. Forgetting all the Glazer issues, I find myself wandering on to websites to check stadium developments and wish they could extend that South Stand. Despite financial matters and logistics, it would be great to see it done. I’ll just look out for the Bernabeu, new Feyenoord, Bramley Dock and Power Court for now

I’m probably one of the few supporters that would like a completely new stadium - I’ve been going to OT on and off since 1972 it once was beyond doubt the best club ground in the country, it’s now by modern standards years behind the top PL stadiums. A new stadium could be built that was still sympathetic to the history of the club and as long as we kept the name Old Trafford I really wouldn’t have an issue with that.

The fact that Glazers spent zero on transfer in the previous season shows that all they want is a top four finish. Mourinho had succeeded to get a second position finish too and he wasn't given a center back. They will probably not spend again when United has a chance to be the contender for EPL in the next season. No wonder the protests are happening.

As a football fan I've been to Old Trafford a few times, I can really appreciate that it has a really old school feel. That it's old and a bit torn makes it really feels like a historical stadium with lots of legacy. It's lovely. Newer stadiums feel and look like plastic wifi router boxes. They are much more boring. I think you should upgrade some aspects, but I hope it can keep the old school feel, it's very unique. Preserving legacy is more important than ever. I'm not really a Man Utd supporter (or of any Premier League team really) but I really respect the club and its history and has followed it on a distance for long time.

In the last few seasons there has been a lot of empty seats every game, so OT has regularly not been getting filled (despite the official attendance), a lot of people are simply not turning up! The railway line stops an expansion of the South stand and I cannot see a way round that problem that would not cost at least a billion - and we still have the problem that OT is regularly not getting filled so it would not be cost effective in any case to expand further with more seats. Fans are already too far away from the pitch with poor sightlines in other parts of the ground which proves that continually building back, back and back again in existing stands simply does not work . Even poor old Everton will have a better ground soon which shows you how far OT has fallen.

People have got short memories: LFC were close to going into administration under H&G, who were worse than the Glazers. The big difference is LFC got lucky in the end that they couldn't afford to keep hold of the club and Hicks couldn't raise the finances to buy out Gillet, which led to the banks stepping in and forcing through a sale to FSG. Also, Utd fans were spoilt under Edwards, Gill & Sir Alex whilst Moores & Parry let LFC stagnate. I would say LFC fans have had it far tougher in regard to ownership problems than Utd fans since the 90s.

Man Utd's Old Trafford stadium that a bit if TLC won't cure. All it needs is the Upgrade of the Sir Bobby Charlton's Stand with a 2nd tier to complete the original design & the removal of the 3rd tier of the Sir Alex Ferguson's Stand & replaced by TV Screens for all 4 corners. We also want a levelled new Roof + modern refurbishment of the rest of the stadium to warrant a 90K capacity in comfort. SBCS 25K + SAFS 25K + SES 20K + ES 20K = 90K. Take Note: The Stadium Expansion should not exceed the rail track. Old Trafford known as 'The Theatre of Dreams' unique in style is the Super Bowl of stadiums & is potentially The best Stadium in the country, possibly the world.

The nature of an older stadium influences the nature of fan culture. A brand new Emirates Stadium has changed the Arsenal culture since Highbury. Rats and bad internet are embarrassing, but the discomforts at an Old Trafford may actually be envied by the comfortable fans at the Etihad.

I agree, much like Fenway Park's charm. It's no more confusing awaiting a decision on a check than at other grounds with large screens as VAR itself has been a total shambles; besides, the stadium announcer keeps the crowd informed. Maybe smaller LED strips/screens placed in the corners, like those used as scoreboards at Anfield, would look better than massive screens.

I'm surprised that there is no mention of Old Trafford being downgraded as a European Final Venue, a UEFA Euro's venue, and FIFA WC venue ! all because it doesn't meet modern stadia requirements. Stairs too steep, seating too close, concourses too narrow, too few toilets, not enough food and drink outlets, the list is massive ! The solution is simple, build a new stadium 50 meters to the North of the present one. Or better still out near the airport, so you don't have to queue for two hours after a game to get down the Chester Road.
