I can't imagine it's useful for more than daily rapid logging. I think a challenge with the bullet journal is that you don't always have your journal with you, so this is a way to rapid log in those situations.

Yeah - and this fits in the Bujo back pocket. So you could keep it a part until it needed to be separate.

I went from a5 to a6 horizontal a few days ago and right now it feels very nice. It actually feels very similar, because it‘s now one spread a6 for one page a5 and I‘m not really missing anything at the moment. but we will see how it turns out and how long it takes for me to fill the notebook up. it‘s a leuchtturm a6 harcover with 187 pages (I‘m from germany and many local stores have them in stock and i love the durability of them) and those little things are expensive as hell. I paid 16,99 € which is kinda insane.

I keep a small dot grid notebook in my back pocket every day for work, I don't have a desk job, I'm in a different place doing different things every day. It's my work bujo. I hate the look of standing there on my phone, and I need an indexed list of the dozens of projects and jobs I have to keep track of. This will be perfect!

I appreciate that you saved me $20 by doing the pen test -- even the 120 gsm of the edition 2 felt too thin (which is why I went to an Archer & Olive, and now Baron Confidant). I do love the column guides, though, and also the vertical layout -- reminds me of how I've used traveler's notebooks in the past. I wish the packaging wasn't so cool, because I still WANT one, just for the pleasure of unwrapping it.

My bullet journal style is minimalistic - mostly pen (I’m using fountain pen with deAtramentis grey document ink which is fast drying), very occasionally small decoration or photo. I also like Leuchtturm’s 80gsm paper because it creates feel of lived in notebook that was used (160gsm feels like cardboard to me 😅). So far I like this notebook. Portability is great. I love that it folds out to A5 size. That was a brilliant idea. My daily logs are long so I expect one notebook to last only 4-6 weeks but we will see. I’m still experimenting around and it’s all new and shiny. I’m curious what my feelings will be once the “boredom and routine” sets in.

I’d like to see a video about what you called a “down and dirty” notebook vs the full bujo. Do you copy todos into it and make it a smaller bujo or is it just a scribbled list of things that might eventually make it to the official bullet journal? Not necessarily this notebook but anything. Like, I usually carry a field notes in my pocket for scribbling random things.

I'm still struggling on the idea of juggling between different sized journals. I can only write everything on one journal, once finished, write on a new one. The only way I see myself writing in more than one journal is with pocket sizeo journals, but that's strictly for emergencies, and throwing in info that is precisely short, and transferring it to the main journal. Or like when I need to go to the ATM and not rely on my phone to search for info, I would write those kind of details. Phone numbers, emails, bank accounts, contact info. Never could I write future plans.

I maybe would use it for my job, to have in the pocket of my lab coat for fast access, instead of the cheap ruled notepads with spirals they provide us with. I’m a leftie too, so every time I turn a page it’s a battle to find out how to write basically. As of now I’ve ordered an a&o a6 notebook. I also figured that since I’m going to have to draw in the book sometimes it will be better with the 160 gsm paper. So maybe after my a&o book is finished? I kind of like that you need to use it vertically.

It’s cute. I can see how it could be a shopping/errand of the day list. Personally, I never use perforated paper. I don’t really have a reason to tear a page out. I don’t want them ripping out from daily wear and tear. Honestly, if I’m only using it to log as needed, I have a lot of notepads that I would use. The ghosting is a big no for me. I probably wouldn’t buy it for myself. I can see it being useful if someone is new to Bujo. It would be less intimidating, I think.

I think this would be a good solution for semester-long planning, as it seems to have the right amount of pages for 16 weeks. which could be useful as I find the discrepancy between short/medium/long term collections in the same journal to be a little disorienting. but then would I also feel the need to carry around my longer term collections journal? I might use 2 pocket notebooks instead of 1 a5, but if I'm doing that I might as well use a travellers notebook with different inserts so that I only have to carry 1 thing

But I wanted to drop a comment because I thought it was interesting that you didn’t actually use any of the pages as an A5 spread, it was all kind of like just using an A6 side ways. Not a criticism at all, I just noticed and thought that was interesting. I bet most people would struggle with the idea of having one A5 page the way it’s intended.

I think we are thinking this as a replacement instead of as supplement. So if you want mindfulness of bujo but can’t take your regular notebook then this can still keep track of your thoughts/notes. I picked a set up because I wanted to try them and liked the size. I hate to say that I hate the paper. I am getting ghosting with pencil. Also this is way too expensive for what it is. I'm just taking notes for training for my new job. While I'm reviewing for my test, the quality of the paper is just distracting. I still think the remaining notebooks would be good for traveling and adhering pictures or ticket stubs or maps (ephemera) to half of the page, that would prevent ghosting or bleed through and the travel notes would be on the other half of the page.

I'm not entirely sure of why I wouldn't just get a regular pocket sized notebook and flip that...I've done that before in the past, and so long as it isn't lined it's perfectly doable. Paying so much for what looks like a low-ish quality notebook that can't do anything I couldn't do with a regular notebook doesn't seem like a great idea 🤔

Great idea - but for the price it sounds like others are expecting a higher quality notebook

This is obviously meant for taking quick and messy notes throughout hectic days when carrying your usual notebook is too bulky. I'd only use it with pencil though to avoid ghosting. The smart grid is pretty cool. But overall I find it too expensive for what I can think of using it for.

I started using an A6 notebook for my rapid-logging and tasks a couple months ago, paired with a passport sized horizontal weekly planner with no months for all of the concrete and date-dependent things. It has been glorious. But in this case... 1) I don't see how using the book sideways is better than using it the normal way. 2) If I have to bust out a clip to keep it open.... I'm just not gonna do it. 3) If I'm only meant to use one side of the page, it's a tablet, not a notebook. Boo! Therefore, for me this is a product solving a problem I don't have and not adding anything to the game.

Chatting with others - there is only 1 page number cause it’s supposed to represent a single A5 page. So that vertical orientation is even more in place

I have switched to this entirely as it would be too heavy for me to bring the original sized bullet journal and I have used up the original one within a year because I journal (rant) a bit too much. Having a thinner and smaller notebook and making it just for work feels like a month of shitty time during work will pass sooner😂

I ordered this and don’t find it useful for any organizational purpose. The paper makes it useless for most of the pens I use. I really love how small and cute it is, I just can’t use it to organize my life so it is now a vocabulary book and wordle log. I track my daily wordle tries and put in any new words I come across. I also like adding new scrabble words. I found a use but not the one that was intended.

I think you didn't get the point about using it in portrait mode, there's only page number on the bottom of the each two page spread because you supposed to use it as a A5 page, this is not mean to you should use only one side.

Even though I'm a linxhinder, we'd use it like the others. Postscript; We could turn our current notebooks sideways and still do the same as this one...saving money...but we won't bother disorienting ourselves or potential archivists. ;)

I admit this notebook hits my 'aw tiny cute' buttons, but that doesn't make it useful. I have an A5 bujo and a packet of Field Notes someone gifted me. If i work out a more efficient 'keep and carry' scheme between those, then the bujo pocket will be the next purchase.

The immense care gone into making this high quality product is ruined by the bleed imo maling it a deal breaker for me. If you're going to pay top dollar for a notebook you wamt top performance. The vertical opening is the final coffin nail. Having to use bulldog clips to keep it open is just icky. Verdict: wrong, wrong, wrong
