Sheesh I know a lot of yall gonna be upset with us this reaction but we stand behind the way we feel. Korra's naivety knows no bounds and for her to think she could kindly ask Kuvira to leave was foolish. Some of you wonder why we don't keep the same energy for Aang and the reason is simple. During ATLA Aang was a child. Korra is a grown ass adult with much better support at that so its not really comparable. Again dont take this as us not enjoying the show because we love it! While we know she is a dictator, Korra sees someone who saved her father, worked for Su, and is helping to restore order to an Earth Kingdom ravaged by anarchy. She wasn’t there for all the internal negotiations or when Kuvira declared an empire. She didn’t see any of the bad impacts (due to being disconnected from the world). I don’t think she approached the situation as a negotiation because she didn’t feel that Kuvira was unreasonable. Imagine if Su was in charge and she talked to Su. I think the major difference between Aang and Korra's emotional maturity has nothing to do with their ages and has everything to do with the fact that Aang's entire nation was annihilated and he literally had no one to rely on. That causes someone to grow up fast, despite how physically old they are. And even at the end Aang was hopelessly naive (Not listening to his past lives and sparing Ozai and Deus Ex Machina'ing his way to learning Spirit Bending) vs Korra who has literally had everything handed to her on a silver platter. She's never been forced to really grow up, and only through these trials is her emotional and spiritual self catching up to her physical maturity. It was the opposite with Aang, where it was his physical maturity that had to catch up to his emotional and spiritual maturity. I'm glad you enjoyed the show.

Aang had literally travelled the world with the monks by the age of 12 His mental age is already close to a middle aged person by 12. Compared to Korra, who was sheltered for 17 years and never seeing the outside world in her own. Yeah she will act naive. Plus the 3 years healing gap also is the issue. @@yukijames1321 Because even though she wants to try a different approach, she probably still doesn’t want to run away from her problems. That’s been a big part of her character, every time people have said they need to hide her (whether it was from Amon, Unalaq or Zaheer) she disagreed because she wanted to help. She spent her whole life locked up in a facility training to be the avatar, and so when people try to just tell her to walk away from something I imagine it’s not easy for her She also probably feels responsibility of being the avatar, especially after having been gone for so long, to fix the situation and bring balance. To her, letting Zaofu get taken would probably go directly against that Basically, she doesn’t want to run from her problems (like she did in Korra alone whenever she turned away from Republic City) but she still wants to try and approach things from a different angle, apply the lessons she learned the hard way

Kuvira has pretty good reasons to do what she's doing... 1.- The Earth Kingdom was slowly falling apart, it desperately needed someone to unify it. 2.- Su was given the chance to become the next Earth Queen and share Sao Fu's greatness with the rest of the Nation, but she (for some reason) refused. 3.- Kuvira originally wanted Su to be the Earth Queen because she believed she could be a good new ruler, but cuz' she refused Kuvira felt that she had to step up in order to not let another incompetent ruler take charge. 4.- for some people what Kuvira is doing it's the same as what the Fire Nation did during The Last Airbender, but the big difference here is that Kuvira and her army's goal is the complete control over THEIR OWN NATION, while the Fire Nation wanted to take control over the whole world (and yes, even if Republic City it's a somewhat Neutral ground to all Nations, it is still part of the Earth Kingdom) But not get the wrong idea... i perfectly know that despite wanting the best for her homeland... Kuvira became a very manipulative and power-hungry woman and because of that her leadership became very Dictator-like. Didn't Aang try to do the same thing with Ozai during the comet? Ozai's fleet was literally setting fire to the ground and was ready to scorch all in their path, and Aang's first words was to try and dissuade Ozai from continuing his plans. In both ATLA and LoK, we've constantly been told (we as in the viewers) that the Avatar is supposed to try and maintain peace. That's why we usually see the Avatar try and talk things out first before trying to go into a fight. Korra did it. Aang did it (in the comics as well). Roku did it. Hell, I think Kiyoshi did it. Talk things out first. When you realize that talking things out is not going to work then it is time to try force to put a stop to them. Not only that, but Korra was pretty much disconnected from the world since she's been away, and when she came back she was dealing with ptsd and was training with Toph. The only thing she knows about Kuvira and what's going on in the world is what she was told on her way to Zaofu. At this point in LoK, I wouldn't say she's naive. She was naive when it first started, back in Book One, but she's matured *a lot* since then. In Book One she was extremely naive. She thought Republic City was a utopia where people were "living it up" and there were no issues. You guys say that Aang was 12 and Korra's an adult, but that doesn't mean she's above the typical standards the Avatar's before her have set. Kiyoshi was also an adult and she warned Chin the Conqueror *before* splitting from the mainland. What Korra did was the exact same thing we've seen done with other avatars, and actually shows how she's matured since the beginning of the show, so I don't really get why you guys are getting on to her about her decision.

korra has only ever heard good things about kuvira, the person who fought alongside her against the red lotus and who also saved her father's life, in the three years she was recovering. she also literally JUST got the poison out and was a little rusty (like kuvira said), but then has to face an entire army basically by herself, of course she will try to negotiate first. she knows kuvira had good in her and it makes sense that maybe as the avatar she could try to convince her. a reckless, going straight into the fight approach has almost never brought her far, which shows how much she has grown and learned. i mean at the end she did have to fight her, but only after the peaceful negotiations (from her side) didn’t work. also korra has experienced a lot of trauma and pain, hence why toph said that korra could’ve unintentionally resisted recovering, cause she was scared of getting hurt (or worse) again. so right after that, standing in front of a whole army would obviously make her not want to immediately jump straight into the fight.

I think they had a hard time seeing Kuvira coming because they had just dealt with someone with exactly the opposite villain plan - complete anarchy, killing all leaders and order. @LordZeebee3 жыл бұрын
This does however show some much needed character growth. This is basically the first time Korra hasn't immediately responded to a problem with violence. Like, good on her but would have been nice if she'd gotten here a bit earlier than halfway through the last season lol.

Kuvira's map of conquered Earth Kingdom states shows the southernmost land of the United Republic under her control as an Earth Kingdom state. When Kuvira is threatening Suyin to take Zaofu by force, the line on her belt vanishes. When Kuvira's group enters Suyin's office, Wei and Wing are wearing identical belt buckles, while later in the scene, Wei is wearing his normal round belt buckle.
@mohammedalmail12763 жыл бұрын
Peaceful request comes first in an Avatar political response before a last resort attack. Roku did it with Sozin before he went Avatar state on the throne room. Aang did it with Ozai before they started their battle in the finale. But yeah, go off on Korra. It's a nod to the fact that Korra's matured at this point not to resort to violence, Book 4 is her emotional maturity arc. Let's praise Zuko for this, but let's shit on Korra because...reasons? Kuvira is a reflection of Korra's former self. She's a political figure now, she can't be the dictator through power Kuvira is.
@Kidapollo923 жыл бұрын
Kuvira's desire to share Zaofu's advancements with the Earth Kingdom mirrors Fire Lord Sozin's desire to share the Fire Nation's wealth with the world in "The Avatar and the Fire Lord", though Kuvira's actions were initially backed up by the world leaders. This is the first episode in which Bolin did appear, but Mako did not. A scene of Kuvira using metalbending to perform target practice was cut from the final storyboard.

Aang would do the same thing. He would try to talk to each side and but then fight the army off
@Warriorten103 жыл бұрын
The thing with Korra trying to talk down Kuvira is, Korra has no leverage. The best that she's got is her title as the Avatar and either 1) Kuvira's a good person and steps down now that the Avatar's back and can pick up where they left off or 2) Kuvira doesn't want to fight the "almighty" Avatar. She's been out of commission for years and got out of therapy yesterday, so the last thing she wants is a fight, and the last last thing she wants is for the people to see the Avatar lose again, legitimizing Kuvira's strength. Diplomacy is the best option but the enemy is right outside and again, no leverage.

Always Second Best: Baatar Jr. doesn't want to return to Zaofu because it would mean being in his father's shadow once again. The Atoner: Hiroshi Sato says he would like make up for what he did but doesn't expect Asami to ever forgive him. Audience Surrogate: Korra insists she's going to try to talk Kuvira down, rather than just fight her right off the bat. Meelo reacts just like the audience; not believing that we went through four episodes of building up her return without her "beating someone up" at the end. Borrowed Catchphrase: Zhu Li does this to Varrick after her Face-Heel Turn. Zhu Li: Guards, do the thing! Varrick: No, not the thing! Both Sides Have a Point: Bolin and Varrick argue over where to go after escaping Kuvira's army. Bolin wants to stay and help Zaofu, while Varrick considers it as good as lost and instead wants to warn Republic City about the spirit vine weapons. The inability to come to a decision about who's right slows them down, allowing Baatar Jr. to find them.

His social skills far surpass Korra’s and his understanding of people and community is ingrained in his culture. Korra’s only friend was literally a polar bear dog for years lol. She was kept in a compound her whole life. It’s a huge part of her character arc to gain understanding of people, communicate, and accept support from others. Just because you're an adult doesn't mean you can deal with issues any better either. And Aang didn't have half the stuff happen to him that Korra did in the beginning of his 'Avatar-ing'. Despite the fact that she failed, a lot of the things she fearlessly stood up to, Aang would have ran from. And that's not me trying to down him, that's just his personality. Unlike Korra, Aang never wanted to be the Avatar and always looked for a peaceful, non-Avatar solution first. But it's fine, like I said, if the tune still the same when we get to episode 8 then I guess I'll be watching someone else react to this.
