There's also a cancelled Getaway game from around the same time. I had a DVD that came with an issue of PSM (Playstation Magazine here in the UK) and there was a teaser for it on there. This was around 2005/06. Perhaps it actually went through development hell and eventually became what we know as Watch Dogs: Legion today. Kinda like what happened with True Crime: Hong Kong eventually becoming Sleeping Dogs. Just a theory.

A few things which really should have been mentioned. This studio, Team Soho. At the same time they announced this game at E3 also announced a PS3 The Getaway 3, and had a super sexy demo for it, set in Oxford Circus. This game, along with that game were mothballed at the same time. I followed the development for The Getaway more closely, and when I read it was mothballed, I read it was because Team Soho were working closely with Eyetoy, well, it was their creation and released loads of Singstar games. Which at the time was far more cheap and financially viable for the studio to stay open and working. Which feeds into the VR, they were really just making games for peripherals. I have no idea if the lack of network connectivity and multiplayer were the cause. But I wouldn't have said it's the primary reason by a long way. Small edit, after reading the wiki page. Pretty I was pretty much spot on with the mentions of connectivity. One of the reasons, but not the main reason..

The game was clearly developed by unskilled developers who tried to convince young audience into thinking that they're developing a high budget AAA title with their misleading trailers. The author of this video is either being sarcastic when he says that these are amazing graphics or he's one of those naive people who have been tricked by the developers of this game. All I see from these fake gameplay trailers is either misleading CGI that has nothing to do with the real gameplay or amateurish character animations which look very junky and scripted. And don't get me started on this laughable car physics at 1:09

The cars look like free models from unity asset store. The choppy animations look like choppy crap even for 2006. No wonder nobody has heard about this game. It's just a bunch of worthless poop.

some of the trailers were pre-rendered, and some were scripted gameplay so yes those physics were in real time but only the finished parts were shown, if they showed like a box or something that wasn’t in the script it’s likely the physics would have broke. so short answer yes they are real but they wernt finished
