I read somewhere that toads in the garden eat the "bad" bugs and to encourage them, to turn a broken terra-cotta pot upside down to give them a place to hang out in the garden.

Anyone else strangely satisfied and feeling empowered when Laura cuts back a plant so far?? Certainly makes me confident to do the same on some plants that I know need it in my own garden! Great job Laura, thanks for demonstrating how you clean beds/give iron to plants. I think I say this everytime I see the plant in your garden but WOW that Winecraft Black Smokebush looks amazing! Really want that in my own garden soon.

I really appreciate you for being so authentic and showing us the "got a little ahead of me" garden spot. I think anyone who gardens knows how being busy in another area or project for a bit and then you look and a section has grown out of control. But what I love most is how quickly you got it under control. You said 1.5 hours. I've had areas I've avoided because they got out of control and I thought they were going to be a beast to straighten up but when I finally got motivated I too found that in only 15 minutes or a 1/2 hour of work it was done!! Lesson learned to not let these overgrown areas be so scary. (Another area I will use cardboard over the plants that I don't want and then soil on top). Much less work.

I love to watch these maintenance videos. You tie in to them with such confidence. After all your years of gardening you probably don’t have to think about it you just know I can tear this out, this I need to cut back to the ground, I can trim these branches and it won’t hurt a thing. Oops, chlorosis…needs iron. Oh yeah all of it could use mid-season fertilizer. And last but not least let’s put some compost on to give it that finishing touch! Absolutely love it! Then when I would be passed out on the grass, you stand back and say”it only took an hour and a half”. 🤭 in 100+ degree heat!

Laura, I think most of the soil in your area came from the Mazama Volcano blast that made Crater Lake. Your area is like a breadbasket area....tons of beets, carrots, wheat and onions are grown there. Have you ever talked to any of the local farmers about their iron problem? I live in North Central Washington and my soil is white powder just like your soil! I have hard water like you as well and I'm betting I have the same iron problem, too. anyway...your garden is looking beautiful as always!! I loved seeing the horse run thru the back pasture, btw. God Bless!

Yes, it’s good to see a cut back and shape up. Gardening really isn’t just buying and planting a bunch of stuff it’s taking care of WHAT YOU’VE GOT and making it look good in any season, especially after the bloom boom! Sometimes you just hafta see how a plant grows where you are and not what it says on a plant tag.

Thanks, Laura, for everything you have taught me! This year, I've had a problem with two andromeda bushes. They are in two different areas of my garden. They each started looking like they had a bug infestation, so I treated them for that, with no improvement. Then, I looked more carefully at the leaves. I realized it must be an iron deficiency. I've never had problems with lack of iron in my area but knew what it looked like because of your videos. I promptly treated both plants, and they are now doing just fine!! I need to continue to monitor them and treat them as needed, but I now feel empowered that being a good gardener is about trouble-shooting problems. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!

Did anyone else see the frog hop away after Laura finished blowing the dirt off the walk? I haven’t seen a frog in years! 🐸

7:50 wildlife, yay !! I love toads, so good for the garden 🐸❤. What beneficial wildlife do you have in your garden ? With all you have been planting, do you see more than in previous years ? Here's an idea for an inspiration video : areas of the garden dedicated to the wild little helpers of the garden.

I wondered how many Gator loads that was...I am guessing 3! Definitely a satisfying thing to see a space get cleaned up...also lets us all know that this happens, even to Laura'a perfect garden beds!

What a workout!! I was wondering how were you keeping up with the original garden. Thanks for showing us that you also let things go out of whack. Your property is so big and with so many projects going on, I was wondering how you managed. You are an inspiration to me. I think the palet walkway should maintain some curves. It would not have the same effect as a straight walkway. Loved seeing that Douglas is still around at 1:20 and Russell greeting you at 1:25. Also loved seeing that little frog leaping towards a shelter at 7:50 and the horse galloping in the background at 13:29 - 13:30. I am hoping you turn your newest property into a horse area with a stable, running circle and all. Great area for Benjamin to ride a horse.

Thank you for showing us real life. We all have spaces that get out of control with growth. It was encouraging to see you cut back the over growth. Sometimes it is hard to do in the middle of summer. I cut my salvia back for the second time and it was hard bc a few stalks had blooms left, but looked so much healthier afterwards.

Wow Laura, what a transformation! It just seems like yesterday that all of those plants behind the chicken coop were planted! I honestly didn’t realize where you were until you cleared most of the over growth. That had to be satisfying! The pallet walk looks brand new!

Watching you trimming and pruning in fast forward is one of the most satisfying things!! I always take big breaths during the videos, as if I'm breathing along with the plants...
