On the night of April 25th 2009, 17-year-old Brittanee Drexel vanished while on her way to a hotel in Myrtle beach, South Carolina. The case would turn cold for more than an entire decade... but in May of 2022, that would all change when a familiar face to authorities came forward.

In college one of my friends was super close to Brittanee, and when spring break rolled around she invited Brittanee to come with us on our spring break trip. She didn’t end up coming with us, but when she went missing it was awful seeing how difficult it was for my friend as she tried to process Brittanee disappearing. I don’t want to go into detail out of respect, but suffice to say it was a really intense and painful first few days. These stories always feel like it can never happen in our world, until it does. Many kids do stupid stuff, especially with friends coercing them. I told my mom I was going to the movies and then staying at a friend's house. We rode to NYC at 15 yrs old with a guy from the Naval Academy. After going to clubs, we had to stay at a motel that was pay by the hour. I remember roaches swimming in the toilet and begging to sleep in the car. Plus, I had to read a huge book by Monday English class. I did love NYC though, and the clubs were amazing, so I started going every few weeks.

A few corrections/additions: 1. Her boyfriend never went down to myrtle beach with her. She went with two other couples. One of the main reasons she went to hang out with that other guy friend was because she felt like a 5th wheel in her group. 2. It was a family friend living somewhat close to South Carolina who called police. Brittanee’s mother called him about her daughter dropping off the grid, and he drove down from his military base to myrtle beach to look for her. The reason police took his missing person report seriously (since it had only been a few hours since she’d gone missing) was because he was a military man. 3. Police had actually pulled the disgusting pedo over for a traffic violation the day after he murdered Brittanee. Their own report described prominent scratch marks all down his face; as if someone had violently clawed at him. This poor, sweet girl had truly fought for her life, and the evidence was right there all along. RIP Brittanee.

Thank you for the info. Real life is not a horror movie and she's not the first victim who wasn't counting on someone's mercy. I'm still glad this petite girl went down fighting. The worst thing is that she wasn't in the middle of nowhere after midnight and this still happened to her.

Thank you for sharing this info! It is good to be precise. Especially I was surprised how the police reacted so quickly and made Brittanee missing person in their records. I was wondering why it happened so quickly and this is very important for people to know if their loved ones ever go missing...that perhaps if the alarm is rised by an higher status person then the case will be taken more seriously immeadiately. Those first 24-48 hours really matter!

I agree with what you said but I just want to add on that people can also condition themselves into being aroused by certain things even if they weren’t born that way. Orgasms make a powerful reward system, and violent and harmful acts are more common in porn than ever. So if someone finds themselves only getting off to such vile things, they shouldn’t shrug it off and think that they can’t help themselves, but instead stop consuming and engaging with such content. There are people who’ve been turned on around children or hearing assault cases bc of the porn they consume and they shouldn’t think it’s out of their control.

I agree. Unfortunately at 11 years old, I was kidnapped for 27 days during which time I was duck taped face down to a table and raped. This poisoned my mind and emotionally ruined me. My mind is full of dark perversion and emotional turmoil. However, I have no significant criminal history. I simply stay away from everyone but my family, afraid that one day I'll hurt someone. If I keep the protection of everyone else fore front in my mind, I can make it to my eventual grave not having victimized or manipulated anyone. I only make this post to illustrate one fact: sometimes desires are not ones fault. They may not be wanted or indulged in by the individual. It would however be my fault if I acted upon any of the shit my damaged psyche attempts to suggest to me

I personally believe we need to get rid of the whole, “let out early on good behavior”. Just because they are acting good now doesn’t and shouldn’t negate their awful actions that landed them in jail in the first place. EDIT: Yes, obviously I'm talking about the more serious of criminals. If you just did like a white collar crime like theft, you shouldn't be in jail for life. But the more violent of criminals like murderers and rapists, etc should stay in jail for their full sentencings without any chance of getting out early on "good behavior".
@Bubba__Sawyer

It's a tricky situation. His crimes were heinous, but did he deserve life behind bars? In hindsight the answer is obviously yes, but it's impossible to know for sure if someone has changed and no longer a threat to society. But in cases like this where they reoffend, they should then serve much longer sentences.

@@jordanthomas2010 they do have a choice, that's why the rule exists. How much sense the rule makes is a different question. But that's a discussion WAY too big and way too tricky for a comment section of any sort. Though, the main point would be rehabilitation. The US prison system isn't built on that, but on punishment. Which is fair enough, you commit a crime, you get punished. However, prison systems built on rehabilitation produce way less reoffenders, which is an argument FOR early release on good behaviour. And that's where it gets complicated. In the US, good behaviour would be not to start fights, not breaking the rules, to put it simple. In other systems, good behaviour is working with the help you're offered. And before anyone gets me wrong: the first thing to look at is the crime committed. I'm not saying to prematurely release murderers, for example. Mostly talking about nonviolent crimes

The people involved, the officials who, after charing Raymond went on to say they treated this case professionally, need to be held accountable and shouldn't be able to just walk away from this .They had no evidence and pushed a narrative that hurt and devastated Timothy and his family as well as allowing a terrible man be able to go free for a long period of time. RIP to Brittanee Drexel, I am happy that her family finally got answers and also I hope that Taylor and his family are able to move forward and that people know of his innocence . Thank you so much for covering this case

My brother is in prison for drug charges and the system is making sure he stays in but people who are predators get to be "reformed" and allowed to be out on streets with those evil thoughts. Okay let clarify what I'm saying my brother was sentenced to 8 years he is over the 4 year and normally you can be out after serving half the sentence but he still has to apply for release and it the discretion of the system to say yay or nay but his crime was victimless and nonviolent but in comparison to crimes with victims they have higher chance to be released at their half compared to cases like my brother

Also from Rochester, my best friend went to school with Brittanee. It was a massive shock. Myrtle Beach was one of the most popular spring break spots for kids in our area to travel to at the time so there was definitely a wave of 'this could have been any of us'. They can be cured... but they have to want it and from there perspective it involves them pychologically neutering themselves by using psychology techniques to basically demolish their sexual identity and any desires they would otherwise have in the future. MOST offenders will never be okay with this so life in prison sounds about right. Problem with the death penalty is to mitigate the risk of wrongful execution costs more than it does to just imprison them for life. I first heard about her, only about 6 months after she went missing. The day they announced her remains were found, I came home from work and just began sobbing, as I listened to the press conference. Her disappearance stuck with me through all these years. I’ve studied many cases as a hobby for over a decade now, and none has left as big a mark as this beautiful girl. She was older than me, and I was only a child. However, every day, for years, I wondered what happened to her. I’m just so glad that her loved ones finally after so many years, have answers and their angel back even if it’s not what we all hoped and wanted 😢🫶🏻

The entire US government, and almost every other government, murders plenty of innocent civilians in their own country and predominantly in other countries , they blow up innocent kids and call it collateral damage and get medals award and praise for it. Do you believe they should get life sentences? It’s funny how they sentence people to life in prison for the same things they do , but they get away with it because they are the judges .

The stats in this case are kinda incomplete. sex crimes have some of the lowest recidivism rates, but in the US, sex crime also have some of the lowest conviction rates, esp for white males. So stats are rather messy and open to interperation, which makes setting policy off them a bit sketchy.

@@boundsgreenboy8354 I am not sure what your point there is. Who said anything about 'the way it goes'? If you are going to try to make an assertion that sounds factual but is actually emotional, that is intellectually dishonest. If you just want to make an emotional or moral argument, that is fine, those can stand on their own. But don't try to wrap it in the false authority of made up 'statistics'.. it just makes it look like you are being untruthful on the moral argument too.

So who's casting aspersions.? Trouble is, as I am sure many may agree, that any attempt to lessen the spread of sex attacks and grooming gang's has been proven futile, the colour of " ones skin " is irrelevant but the effectiveness of deterrent from these crimes has clearly failed. Castrating is not the answer for most so the only guarantee is they should lose their right to freedom.
