This was the episode I’ve been waiting for. I lost my husband who was 37 due to COVID back in 2021. I felt and still in some ways so unseen by the grip of grief. I didn’t need to scriptures or the flowers. I just needed company. Being 34 at the time and a mom to a 4 year-old without my husband was too much… But God AND a therapist helped me and is continuing to help me through.

Thank you so much for verbalizing my frustration regarding dumb things you hear during grieving. I lost my grandmother, daddy and mom within 8 months and the rage I felt at times is indescribable. I know the scriptures. I've said them to others. But scriptures don't take away the excrutiating pain of grief; moreso with a complicated and compound grief. I wish people would understand the gift of sitting with loved ones. That's it. just sitting and being available to listen.

I’m not one of those who are super hung up on the cursing but as a Christian I just can’t get behind excusing it and it being seen as subjective. If Jesus could go ham in the marketplace and not swear, I don’t see why His children are exempted from that. Swearing to me shows a lack of discipline and failing to use other clean words that are just as good if not better at expressing your disdain for something. It’s one thing if you get mad and it slips out but another to intentionally curse and feel no ways about it. If you want to keep swearing in private, that’s your prerogative, but let’s call a spade, a spade, man lol. This new age Christianity where we want to excuse certain things and make obvious sins “subjective convictions” is hilarious to me. I’ll keep watching the basement cause I appreciate the content but just my .02 😂

I think that the space that is created on the basement allows room for your two cents. I hold a similar view to yourself when it comes to the usage of strong language and I can hold the tension of knowing that I disagree with Tim’s thoughts on that topic and still appreciate what his calling is. The very issue that Tim is addressing is the pharisee spirit that seems to be behind a lot of people’s accusations that does not allow them to see any other perspective. Ultimately, we have to account for every word that comes out of our mouths and I would not feel comfortable using that language in front of the Lord on judgment day, so I don’t use it. I think a lot of people need to pray for discernment and realize that Tim is simply a man. No Christian should be doing things solely based off what another man does. When it comes to the content I consume, I personally take everything back to God. I trust that the Holy Spirit is the best filter that there is. I’ve asked the Lord to reveal to me if the Basement is not a place that I need to be dwelling in, but the Lord keeps telling me to look at the fruit, and frankly Tim has a way of connecting with people that I could learn from (for the most part) because evangelizing requires empathy for others. I’m going off on a tangent now, but I just want to say lastly that we are called to speak truth to our brethren and pray for them, not judge them and condemn them. The Holy Spirit is in charge of convicting and changing hearts. I respect Tim for acknowledging that he will no longer use that language publicly, and I will continue praying over him and the channel as well as the audience that follows his ministry. I hope that everyone reading this feels the presence and the love of the Holy Spirit today!

Monsignor Richard Albert was a catholic priest whose calling was to use his priesthood to help the poor and needy. My mom was his secretary for about 30+ years so he was also family. He was also caught in a compromising situation with the same sex which was recorded and intentionally “leaked” and the church he led for many years turned against him. His fall from grace was noticed immediately. Unfortunately he passed away a few years ago with a broken heart because he LOVED the church and the foundation he founded for the poor. CHURCH WAS NOT SAFE…. Now that he’s gone, everything he had a hand in, including the church has been slowly falling apart.

Ultimately I follow Jesus so man can do whatever. I pay attention to the fruit a person bears…only God can know the heart. And to me a cuss word doesn’t constitute anything but a way of expressing yourself. I’ve lived in dangerous, not so conservative environments as I grew up so maybe I have more compassion and tolerance towards certain things and people. Not everyone can relate and that’s ok. Thinking about your friend Carl L. and your references to King David, when I was reading about his relationship with Jonathan I wondered if they were more than brothers? I concluded that they were not, but I thought about it which I think is a problem with the church, people are afraid to think. I feel so blessed that God put me in a church where the pulpit transparently tells its faults and they have a celebrate recovery. Totally disagree worth the just cross the street mentality. It is called THE BODY OF CHRIST, emphasis on the OF CHRIST. IF you are attached to the same body as I am and you are going rogue or being harmful to other parts of the body that we are supposed to have one mind in, how dare the finger tell the arm it doesn't have a right to correct the way it directs the blood to it. The whole body is affected by every other part of the body, that is IF a person is actually in the body. Public domain is public domain. God is using you. As long as that is true, the way you represent US and OUR Father matters. SO IT MATTERS. We are not even ALLOWED to turn a blind eye to our brethren. When you or I or any other member of the body starts to wane in ANY area, there MUST be correction if you are going to continue to be connected to the Body of Christ. Love corrects. Love also cuts off. If a part of the body is so unpalatable that it can't nourish the rest of the body, it is cut off by THE HEAD, which is the doctor. I know that's not what you want although that's what you said. We must be our brother's keeper for many reasons that benefit you AND us but most importantly the Kingdom of God. @@jenniferfredzess You are misusing the scripture. Jesus is referring to not judging hypocritically. This is not a "cup of tea" issue. If @thecornucopia5471 was judging this issue while cussing herself then it'd be accurate to what Jesus was teaching. The body of Christ is not a safe space to "be who you are." Because from experience, my authentic self aside from Christ is sinful. We have die to our flesh and be born again. It's a struggle and a sanctification process as we experience stumbles, which is where the patience and grace grace grace comes in. But we can't just shrug off things that the Word specifically says not to practice and say "I'm just being authentic." Or in the name of reaching people. Paul became whatever to whomever he needed to reach them with the gospel, but he EVER compromised by sinning to do it.

We're just gonna go with every interpretation of Eph 4:29 except the one that it actually says? It just seems like you don't have the conviction to bridle your tongue. How does saying you wanted to prison shank someone in the neck with a dull spoon till blood sprays everywhere not fall into that category? Doing it private and public isn't going to work, because the public already sees that bad fruit of unwholesome speech in your private life. Out of the abundance the heart the mouth speaks. "Just unfollow me" just sounds like you rebuking wise correction. Just looks foolish. And don't say "just don't watch my content." Well bro I don't! But when you're calling out the church as fragile and judgmental in the title, you're expecting people who aren't subscribed to you to watch. And KZbin just hands it to us as a suggestion. It's like if someone puts a flyer on your door of an advertisement that you don't like, you should have the ability to say you don't like it. You're acting like everyone who watches is only watching because they followed you before and now they disagree with you. Nah man I don't follow you, your confrontational title lured me in to watch!

​@@phidawg Lure in is the wrong word, because it makes it sounds like there is ill-intent with the title on your teams end. Please forgive me for that poor/inaccurate wording. A better phrase would be "attracted me to watch." And I appreciate you responding with love, and though we disagree, it's a part of fellow believers longsuffering with each other. I respect your leadership and dedication to spreading the gospel. My thoughts are the same as the first comment, and even though I'm not too familiar with your ministry specifically on on KZbin, I wanted to add I think it's ridiculous that people will claim false teacher/deceiver over this issue. I just see it as something that is coming up multiple times publicly because it's possible that the Lord may want to prune it to strengthen you even more than he already has.
